Welcome to my homestead. 8 acres of old growth forest tucked way back off an old dirt road. The Quabbin reservoir is just minutes away, as are hiking trailheads, fishing sites, enduro riding, and mountain bike trails. From sunrise to sunset you can hear a vast collection of wild birds. In the evening the crickets come out to play, as do the deer, squirrels, frogs, chipmunks, bees, owls, and even a rare Bear sighting! As you enter the property, current being cleaned up after years of, ummm, storage, you will pass by some old buildings and scrap materials that have been excavated from the property on its way to start a new life elsewhere. Past all that you get to the good part. A private oasis of forest to do with as you see fit. There are 3 flat tent sites cleared out; each about 300 yards from the road and far from each other. The main site has 2 tents already set up for you; with plenty of space for more. There are tons of trees available for you hammocks lovers. Overlanders are welcome as well, but you better have a pretty big rig to get through the rocky pathway. My HMMWV has no issues 😎 It stays much cooler up here than most surrounding areas. However, in spring the mosquitos can be annoying. I certainly suggest bringing some bug spray. Fires can be made most of the time, and I have fire rings at the sites. If there is a fire ban I will do my best to inform you as it changes daily. I do not always occupy this property, but if I am there I will teach simple primitive skills to my occupants including fire making, shelter building, axe/knife handling, etc.. upon request. Pitch your tent next to the historical Puffer sawmill, in a thick conifer forest, or way back in the hardwoods of the great northeastern mountains. Deer, moose, and bear frequently pop in for a visit. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails, fly fishing creeks, and rivers are a short distance away. Lots of thick forest to choose from, all I ask is that you clean up when you’re finished and use a fire pit available on-site.

Rv or van site on historical sawmill property currently being renovated. Park your rig, make a fire, do some stuff, and just chill. Private secluded driveway that’ll be all yours for the night. Beware of the 2 old mobile homes directly behind your spot, but the price does reflect these eye nuisances until they are removed.

Nice quiet spot, parked for the night passing through on a trip. Good place to park a van or camper. Quiet but still had cell service and nice tree cover. Jared was out of town but made it easy and straight forward. Would definitely stay again when in the area.

Private but not what I expected
Secluded Campsites at old Sawmill
Pros: very quiet and secluded location. The owner is quick to respond and helpful. Cons there is a lot of stuff laying around like a pile of old tires, old oil barrels, and a rusted out old truck. From the pictures I was expecting a very wooded area without so much stuff. We paid for 2 nights but only stayed 1 night.

Great stay in a quite spot.

Jared had great communication and showed us the best place to set up. I heard a moose, tons of coyotes, and owls. It was secluded enough to leave the dogs off leash. So quiet and the back spots were 4x4 accessible only so I wasn’t worried about other campers setting up close. Lake Wyolo was close as well and we stopped there on the way for a nice hike and a look at the shore.

Secluded Campsites at old Sawmill
This was my second time at the Campsite and is a super considerate and approachable host. I arrived After dark my first day which was definitely an inconvenience for him, but he was a very good sport and still showed me around to all of the available spots. There are no cleared Trails so it's a lot of hiking but it's so worth it. (Even though I ended up staying very close to the parking lot) This latest time when I requested a larger fire pit he happily work something out for me. I wouldn't recommend for Less experienced campers though, it's pretty rustic!

Private RV/Van parking spot
Slept really well. Very quiet. Very rustic. We had no problem because we brought our own water, etc. Jared was a great host. Interesting guy with a gorgeous piece of property and a ton of work to do to realize his vision. He has the know how and energy to do it! He was very helpful and resourceful. We definitely want to go back again and see the evolution of this super-cool property.
