A truly supernatural setting. This retreat is very private and very quiet. It is remote enough to be serene, yet no more than 30 minutes from everything you might need. We are located 20 miles from Hilo and just 12 miles from Volcano National Park. There is beauty everywhere. Enjoy the outdoor tub, the spacious lanai, the songs of many beautiful birds, and the endless stars. It is the perfectly sweet retreat.Welcome to this sweet jungle home near Kurtistown/Kea'au on the Hilo side of Big Island! • 9 miles to Volcano Park • 30 minutes from downtown Hilo + airport • 20 minutes from Kea’au Bringing nature + dwelling together, the Watermelon House is a delightful 800 square foot home with huge pocket doors, allowing you to easily slide open the walls, to look out on lush jungle gardens + flowers galore. A 400’ square foot lanai is perfect for lounging, yoga, making art or just doing nothing. Watermelon House has one private bedroom + guest bed in the main space It comfortably hosts 3 guests. Full bathroom + outdoor soaking tub + outdoor shower. The kitchen has all the tools you’ll need, a full size fridge with freezer + propane full range cookstove. The propane BBQ on the lanai will make for some delightful meals. WiFi + TV. The whole property around the house is fenced + gated. Great for pets! You’ll have a gate remote to allow you access during your stay. Spacious lanai, lovely land, very quiet, virtually zero traffic. An easy space to just be in.
