Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Welcome! See the stars above from this rustic 35 acre off-grid outpost just off Highway 50 from Howard, 25 minutes from downtown Salida. During the summer months, gear up for all the fishing and rafting you can handle on the nearby Arkansas River. World-class mountain biking is just a stone’s throw away on the Rainbow Trail, Monarch Crest, and Salida trail systems. Prefer your recreation motorized? The Texas Creek OHV Area is 35 minutes east on Hwy 50. Continue through Brown’s Canyon and Big Horn Sheep Canyon to visit the world-famous Royal Gorge. Cañon City is just 50 minutes east through the canyon and features a historic prison and a fun downtown area to explore. During the winter months, the locals’ favorite—and hidden gem—Monarch Mountain welcomes skiers and snowboarders of all levels with newly expanded terrain. It’s just 55 minutes away, door to door. Year-round, you can relax and unwind right on the property while taking in the beautiful views. Our place will help you experience everything Salida and the Arkansas River Valley have to offer. Due to the secluded nature of the property and prevailing weather conditions, absolutely no open flames are allowed outdoors. This unique and cozy, yurt-inspired cedar cabin with 1200 sq ft of living space features a private bedroom with a queen bed. The open loft area has one twin and one full bed. An inflatable queen mattress is available, and the sleeper chair in the living room folds out too. A solar-electric battery system powers the cabin, with a Generac generator available to easily recharge the battery when usage exceeds the solar capacity. The LP gas wall furnaces and on-demand hot water heater will keep you comfortable, while satellite Wi-Fi will keep you connected. With amenities like a fully equipped kitchen and a clothes washer/dryer, guests can enjoy a comfortable stay while getting away from it all.
