We took our baby on a road trip to Alberta and spent a night here! It was so much fun to see the horses and farm animals. Beautiful mountains and scenery. Lovely people, outdoor shower and sink for doing dishes!

Absolutely loved the Back Forty, Katy and Hank were the best host. With the fires in Jasper on everyone’s mind and watching the helicopters it was still one of our best nights of our trip. Highly recommend the Back Forty and our dog Azo gave the ranch two paws up….

Katy’s place was exceptional!!! The mountain views were amazing — No matter which way you are facing the views were unbelievable I’ve never experienced anything like watching the horses run free in the field! We never wanted to leave! Katie and Hank made our visit extra special — We truly appreciated the time!

Camping on Katy's land was amazing. Having the cozy bed and large canvas tent already up saved us a lot of time on our way to Jasper for a big backpacking trip. We met some of the workers on the ranch who were from France and Germany. They were very nice! 10/10 would stay here again.

Katy is very friendly. We will be sorrounded by mountains 360degrees by escaping from technology.
We were welcomed by beautiful dogs and horses. This is one of our best places ever stayed.

The most incredible few nights! Pulled in to a great spot with incredible views and the best group of ranch hands who were super lovely and helpful, even taking us out on a horse ride at short notice early on our last day! Small touches like the first beers for free show what great hosts Katy and the team are. Highly recommend it for all animals lovers (28 horses, 2 donkeys, 5 dogs and a cat at my count!). Warm shower and cook facilities, too.

Throughly enjoyed camping on Katy's land, there was great facilities available and enjoyed the rustic feel of being out near nature. Towns to access groceries, fuel and other things was only a 20 min drive so a great balance. The tent was comfortable and stable (we learnt because it was incredibly windy) and had everything we needed!

The ranch was very beautiful with a stunning view. If you love horses this is the PERFECT place for you! If not, like us, it can be a bit intimidating that they run around everywhere. But Katy and her colleagues guaranteed us they knew how to behalve around people, and they luckily did! We stayed only one night instead of two but that was because there were less hikes than hoped around Mount Robson. Katy was very kind and her ranch screams girlpower!

I arrived at the site pretty late in the night since it was a bit tough to find the site and when I woke up first things came out of my mouth “oh Wowww” when I saw the mountains. Started going around and saw the beautiful horses. That just made my day. And a few minutes later I met Katy and the cutest dog Lucy advancing with so much active and fun energy. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start my vacation.

We had a great time with our hosts in a spectacular place with incredible views and rustic canvas tent. A true off grid experience with horses. We didn’t get to ride but with the option offered we are keen to get back there. 10 outta 10.

Overall we had many concerns with our stay, mainly regarding safety. Firstly communication with the host was poor. She did not call back or reply to 2 messages before we arrived. She did not respond to questions over the phone in a welcoming manner. Information was misleading - potable running water advertised & reinforced over the phone- but the water was in a tank, ran out, and was not clearly safe to drink. Water was used by ranchhands and was not refilled so there was barely any for our use. Outdoor Kitchen area was very messy; leftovers cooked by ranchhands were left out, along w/ open cereal boxes, bagels, and other foods. This was all outdoors, right next to the campsite and the outhouse, in bear country. The trash bin was not locked and would be very easy for wildlife to get into. My biggest concern was that there was an electric fence right next to the campsite with no sign or warning whatsoever. It just looked like a rope fence. Our son touched it almost immediately on arrival (thank goodness it wasn’t on). Later the ranchhands told us offhand that it is electric and gets turned on in the morning. Our second morning the horses were released around our campsite without notice. They suddenly ran around our toddler son and our dog without warning. I place the responsibility for these issues on our host, whom we never met, rather than the ranchhands, who were busy young women - they were not responsible for our comfort though they certainly should have been safer.

The ranch, horses and friendly ranchers created a nice peaceful setting. Beautiful mountain views and sunset added to the experience. The RV trailer spot could be improved by levelling it with a clear stone gravel pad. A vent for the outhouse would be helpful. We were grateful for the use of the BBQ grill and water.
The proximity to Mt. Robson visitor centre (15 mins. drive) was a big factor for us. Signage to the ranch from Hwy 97 could be improved.
At $30/n, the price is good value for campers who are travelling through. I would recommend it more highly if there was a purpose-made RV trailer pad with less dust.

On her working farm near Valemount, host Katy has put in good effort to create a well-equipped and welcoming stay. From a variety of dispersed camping choices to the canvas tent, it’s hard to set up without great views of the mountains rising above. The many horses make for scenic companions, and the friendly dogs are happy to hang, but by no means overbearing. The communal area features a clean pit outhouse, and a new covered kitchen with a fridge, water dispenser, BBQ, stove, and oven, plus two tables, one covered and the other exposed. The property has ample opportunity for sightseeing, with many different wildflowers blooming during my visit. A number of trails and dirt roads run from the property, providing endless chance to explore. Katy and her partner Herb are kind and welcoming. Overall, camping on the ranch was a great experience, and one that I’m sure is only going to get better and better as Katy continues to build upon her camping facilities.

The campsite was well maintained and we had access to a communal kitchen. Katy was a very helpful with directions to her land and restaurant recommendations in Valemount. Everything exceeded our expectations and we hope to return!

Horse Ranch in the Fraser Valley

Loved staying here for 5 nights. Well maintained track takes you off Highway 16 to a Ranch within the beautiful Fraser Valley. Twenty seven horses in the paddock that you can look into with the mountains as the backdrop. We chose to ride with them - which was tremendous - the young German women wranglers were good fun to be around - and we were in east distance of Mount Robson, excellent White Water Rafting and a hike to Little Lost Lake and it’s waterfalls. Valemont is the closest town - with good coffee and a bar and Jasper - well over an hour away - is worth the drive.

We had an amazing time at Katy‘s Ranch!! Lots of animals around that are really friendly & cute. Also there were 4 young german girls that were super helpful with everything & showing us around. Would definitely wanna stay there again!

This is an absolutely stunning setting in the mountains. Wake up to rainbows and horses grazing. Loads of space to set up your tent or camper and lots of privacy away from other campers.
It is quite hard to find as there is no signage off the highway so it's easy to take a wrong turn up the wrong driveway. Turning around with a camper on a gravel road is not an easy task and cell signal is really limited so updating your GPS is near impossible. There are also dogs running loose on the property and while they are very friendly, if you are travelling with dogs of your own or small kids, this might be an issue.

Had a great one night stay at the glamping tent. Beautiful, scenic, mountain ranch, with horses roaming freely within the property. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we did not get to enjoy an evening fire in the beautiful scenery. We did take do a 2 hr trail ride which I would highly recommend!

My husband and I spent one night on Katy’s ranch and we wish we had more time! From the phenomenal sunset sinking below the mountains in the evening to the horses running across the field in the morning, we were amazed at the beauty of this place! Relaxing by the fire or in the hammock made for a great way to end a day of hiking the mountains that surrounded her property. We would definitely recommend Katy’s place and will return again the next time we are back in BC!
