Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike.
Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie.
The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation.
RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie.
All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument.
A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land.
Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. This was the best site I've ever camped at and can't recommend it enough! You're all to yourself but still nearby other sites. The town, as well as Scottsbluff NM and Chimney Rock, are close by. Lisa was an excellent host, wish we could've talked longer! Make sure you're well prepared for the weather...the wind swept through the canyon just right and snapped our tent. Will definitely look for this place again the next time I come out!

This land is gorgeous and we felt so lucky to camp there. We decided to camp last minute on our cross country road trip back home to Idaho and it happened to be my birthday. The sunset was incredible and the prairie was gorgeous. Be prepared for the wind!

Wow, it was raining HARD when we were driving towards the Peaceful Prairie location and the road condition concerned Lisa. She contacted us right away about getting into our spot and settled. Through the hip camp site/app and LIsa's guidance, we found our spot just fine and had a nice evening in the drizzle. Woke up to some beautiful fog and singing birds. The road does get a little greasy with that kind of rain, but we did fine.

This was a great quiet little campground. We had some issues with the camper the first night but it was nothing major and the host was so accommodating and helpful. We would recommend this place and the rental of the camper on site to friends.

We spent two peaceful nights at the Cozy Cove campsite at Peaceful Prairie in July 2025. The campsite itself is true to its name - cozy. It is just several minutes to town, but feels like you are a world away with the prairie to yourself. Lisa provides a trash can, two tables, and two firepits, and firewood all immediately at the campsite itself, giving you a sense of being alone in the wilderness while still having the comforts of an established campground- truly the best of both worlds! Lisa was so friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend Peaceful Prairie and the Cozy Cove site in particular for the ultimate prairie camping experience! 🙂

The campsite is exactly what we expected.
We had beautiful views of the national landmarks. And the stars at night were spectacular. There really isn’t much shade at all. So if you go during summer months bring a canopy of some sort.

The views are phenomenal and I saw the most brilliant shooting star on our first night.
A recommendation for campers at cozy canyon - use more guy-lines than you think you’ll need. It can be a bit of a wind tunnel. That being said, I’ll absolutely be camping at that site again.

It was so fun camping right by Scott's bluff! It made for really good camp photos having beautiful scenery in the background. Also, when we arrived it was very windy, but Lisa moved us to another available site that was shielded from the weather and closer to the entrance and bathroom. It was very nice of her!

I loved how the hosts came to welcome me to the property and personally give me directions to the site. Throughout the stay if there was something that was wrong I was informed immediately. The host Sarah told me of the potential dangers (snakes as it is in a prairie; and I had no issues) and answered any questions I had. She informed me of the wildlife in the area and what I could see. I felt very safe as a young solo female traveler. The views from my site was amazing. I could hear some louder cars on a highway but it still was very calming and you could see thousands of stars. I heard more wildlife than anything else.
