This is a 16 foot traditional style tipi, facing east. It has two sleeping cots with inflatable pads, and a wood burning Solo fire container. (Yes I supply the firewood.) The National Park is 20 minutes away, the Town of Jackson is about 8 miles away, Teton Pass is just up the road. Right now (in the Fall) the Elk are bugling in the field right across from us. We have 2 canvas tents, 1 log cabin, and 2 bring your own tent sites along the Snake River in Swan Valley Idaho. Each cabin and glamping tent sites have electricity, minifridge, queen size bed and heat. Portable toilets and a community outdoor shower on 700ft of riverfront. Access to some of the best trout fishing in the U.S. is just steps from your stay. Mountain views with nesting Osprey. Elk and deer also wander the property. A trail to the right just before the lake brings you to an out cropping of rocks giving you an elevated view. And of course Palisades reservoir, a 20 mile long stretch of water is just 3 miles from camp. The dam keeps the water flow of the snake at optimal flow all season.

The Shoshone and Nez Perce Native American tribes spent their summers in this area hunting and fishing the many streams in this valley. Trapper's used the area until the U.S. market collapse of the beaver skin top-hat in the late 1830's. Mormon pioneers began settling here in the 1890's. My great-grandparents settled in Teton Valley after moving from Nebraska in 1917. They farmed this land; growing potatoes, barley and hay. Today we raise alfalfa/grass hay that we feed to our horses. In the bottom of our field south of the campsite is Trail Creek, which is the headwaters of the Teton River. It flows out of the southern Teton mountain range in Wyoming and into Idaho. This water eventually joins the mighty Snake River near Rexburg, Idaho as it continues it's journey to the pacific ocean. Summer's here are usually warm sunny days with cool, chilly nights. The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Granite Creek Ranch is a 4th generation working cattle and horse ranch established in 1921 operated by the same family for over a century. Meadows, crop fields and forested mountains cover the ranch. 230 pairs of cows and two dozen horses call it home along with herds of Elk, Mule and Whitetail Deer, Moose, Coyotes, Redtail Hawks, Bald Eagles, Cranes and many other bird species. Small, private camp spot with a beautiful view, I loved seeing the milky way at night and getting to watch the sun crest the mountains and wake up the whole valley. Only an 1hr35 from the Tetons and the drive is well worth it, with beautiful mountain roads following the Snake River.
No amenities really but as a self contained car-camper this was perfect for me. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an affordable, quiet, and beautiful spot near the Tetons and Yellowstone!

Creek bottom basecamp is a cozy gravel pad, with 50/30a power and water. Very private with chickens clucking and an occasional neighbor cat visit. 4 miles from Driggs and a short drive to Targhee.
We met our host as well as the neighbors, very friendly and helpful if needed.
We have a 36 ft 5thwheel, I recommend driving to the end of the paved road for a good turn around spot.

We absolutely looooved it here! Camping rionthe river was honestly my favorite part of the whole trip. Having the observation deck made for an awesome view watching the Osprey swoop down and catch fish from the river. Mike was such a welcoming host who seems to love doing this. There was porta pottys on every corner AND they were clean, which was amazing! We will definitely be back!

The stay was great, beautiful views and Joy was so accommodating. We stayed in our van with our dog and she offered us wifi when our solar went out and was very nice to our dog. Sauna and cold plunge were great to have and you can go see the horses on the property. Electricity and water is a great bonus too, highly recommend.

Plenty of room to park your camper, sitting area is pretty small, there is a picnic table and what room is left next to your camper on the pavement. Our "grassy" area was full of water the whole time we were there. They have free breakfast every day, which is very unusual at a campground, so that is a perk. They have a pool and hot tub and community gas lit fire pits with free s'mores. Trees are small right now so there is no shade, it was pretty warm sitting on the concrete.

Beautiful site. Hummingbirds flew through daily. Clean tent and comfortable bed. The extra blanket, heater, and fan helped us manage the daily high and low temperatures. Easy access to hikes and food, but beautiful enough to stay there all day. The warm shower was wonderful. Lots of boats and fisherman going by, but the site was still secluded and peaceful.

What a beautiful place. Step right out onto the river from your spacious tent. You wake up, and boom, there it is, flowing. Amazing!!! It was Elisabeth's 50th birthday; we had a smorgasbord of appetizers and charcuterie and "cups" of wine. on the deck like camping but civilized. Also, no bugs or flies or mosquitos—maybe just that time of year, but wow, that's amazing; dogs were loving it. What a great experience. Only negatives, only one restaurant in town; we didn't care; we brought our own food. What a beautiful river, moving fast. It's not the spot to throw frisbees for the dogs, but the energy is amazing.
