Granite Creek Ranch is a 4th generation working cattle and horse ranch established in 1921 operated by the same family for over a century. Meadows, crop fields and forested mountains cover the ranch. 230 pairs of cows and two dozen horses call it home along with herds of Elk, Mule and Whitetail Deer, Moose, Coyotes, Redtail Hawks, Bald Eagles, Cranes and many other bird species. Ranch covers over 4,000 acres and the campsites have a couple hundred acres of hiking to enjoy. My family really enjoys the ranching and country life and want to be able to share it with others!

This site is suitable for tents or small campers due to the slope. My other site is very flat and can accommodate RVs or campers of any size.  Campground is 1 mile off the highway and not far off my gravel ranch road.  Very private, but easy to access.  Room to park a trailer or boat (Palisades Lake is 15 miles away and the South Fork of the Snake River is 3 miles away). The gravel road can be slick when it rains, so 4 wheel drive is recommended during inclement weather. There is a 24x20 platform that can be used for tents, cooking and eating area or for chairs.

Flat meadow area with some Aspen trees for shade.  1 mile off the highway and 100 yards off my ranch road.  Easy access.  I have a couple hammocks in the trees already for use.  Some shady spots large enough for a teardrop camper to go under.  Excellent spot for larger campers and RVs.  I have a small reservoir that I stock with rainbow trout that campers have access to 1 mile further up my road.  This area is 1 hr south of Jackson Hole.  Palisades reservoir is 17 miles east.  Boat docks for the South Fork of the Snake River are just a couple miles away.  Fall creek recreation area is about 8 miles away.  Kelly Canyon recreational area is about 20 min away.  If any assistance is needed I am usually working 1 mile further up my ranch road. The ranch road can be slick when it rains, so 4 wheel drive is recommended in inclement weather. Very quiet area Bring your own firewood or use wood you can find in the trees Porta Potty is provided 5 gallon jugs of drinkable water are provided Some chairs are provided A table is provided

Idaho Ranch Cabins

These are the rustic cabins at the Granite Creek Ranch headquarters. There are 4 cabins available. Granite Creek Ranch is a century old working cattle ranch. A small continental breakfast is provided in the kitchenette. The cabins have been renovated and have indoor plumbing with a shower. One was an original homesteaders cabin, another an old one room school house. Guests have access to the cabin area, a small lake with some canoes and stocked with rainbow trout fish (bring your own fishing gear) and hiking in the mountains right at the base of the ranch. We do guided trail rides throughout the summer and guests are welcome to join a ride if they would like (extra fee for the horse riding and needs to be reserved in advance). There are four cabins and a shared kitchenette with a firepit (wood is provided) an outdoor grill and a sink in the kitchenette. We do provide a small continental breakfast for guests, but lunch and dinner are up to you. We are 8 miles from Swan Valley, Idaho which has several places to eat as well as a grocery store. You are welcome to bring groceries and cook in the kitchenette or over the campfire. We have 2 fridges where you can store food for your stay. We will have horses and cattle in the corral area most everyday and ranch dogs will also be around. Please be aware of areas such as the corral which are off limits to guests.

Beautiful campsite! Very nice to have a platform. No flat ground if you’re in a van like we were. The portable toilet is also quite a walk away. Otherwise well worth the views.

I loved tent camping here! It is private, secure and quiet. There is one other site but its so far away you feel like you are by yourself. And the views!!!! Chefs kiss!!! AMAZING scenery. My dog loved exploring the space around camp and having the freedom to roam. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Peters property was perfect for my sons and I. We fished the South Fork Snake and it was the perfect location to return from a long day of fishing on the river. It was quiet and beautiful. Not super fancy but that is how we like it. Would stay again!

This campsite was excellent! The platform was super useful. The views were insanely beautiful. The directions led us right there. We saw some deer in the meadow in the morning and utilized the hammocks in the tree line. Was a beautiful escape and we even went horseback riding in the morning. The staff were so sweet and helpful. Made the experience overall so authentic and worth the stop

Beautiful views, quiet and comfortable. I only spent a quick night here on my way back east. It was way more space than I needed but it was nice to have the whole area to myself. I mainly chose this spot since everything in and around Jackson was way too expensive.

Peter’s spot was great. I do a good deal of dispersed camping, but with how far I was driving and the Fourth of July holiday, I didn’t want to try to try and stake out a spot. The platform was perfectly placed in a grove of beautiful aspens, the view was amazing, the sunrises were phenomenal. I loved waking up to all the birds chirping, and a deer went by my tent one morning, and on the Fourth of July, a moose came and grazed by our camp area. It was easy to find, well marked, and really enjoyed the quiet and the privacy, especially as I was trying to get away from the loud firework noises because me nor mydog like the sound of them too much.

This was such a perfect site. It's not too far from Idaho Falls and Rexburg, and is only a mile off the highway. The directions to get there are very clear. There's so much space to set up and roam around. There's a nice supply of firewood and fresh water and a Porta potty and two sturdy chairs and a nice table. The scenery is lovely. We had a wonderful time and would love to come again.

Absolutely stunning! The area is beautiful and was a perfect spot to camp. You can hear so many doves and birds, and in the distance you can hear cows. I really enjoyed the hammocks that are set up. The port-a-potty was clean and only shared by one other campsite. Both campsites were spaced far apart so I didn’t even hear them there.

We stopped here on our way out of Teton and what a wonderful place to finish our trip. Clear signage, clean, beautiful views, and a quiet experience were highlights of this campsite. Would absolutely stop again.

This was the perfect little getaway! It was in a very quiet, and secluded spot and the sunsets and sunrises were AMAZING! The few days we were here, we woke up to herds of elk grazing in the field :) it was so peaceful! It was about an hour and a half away from GTNP, but I prefer to be out of the cities when I camp anyways, so this was perfect and the drive to and from was one I didn't mind doing, anyways, because the VIEWS!! Make sure to go see Fall Creek Falls nearby :)

I was looking forward to staying here since I booked it! It did not disappoint. The area is so beautiful and Peter chose a beautiful spot to set up so that there's privacy and a view of rolling hills. I loved that my dogs were able to be dogs and had room to run. If I'm lucky to be in the area again I think I'll take advantage of the horseback riding and trails more.

Peter's campsite was a great place to stay during our time in Swan Valley. It is very secluded and has tons of space. I think it is a former pasture, so there is a bit of very old cow dung around and maybe a higher amount of flies because of that, but no mosquitos! The place is very convenient to the Snake River and the rest of the valley. The 6 gallon jug of potable water was a great benefit. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Privacy, quiet, beautiful vistas and a thoughtfully created camping spot. Elk roamed through on the opposite hillside and groundhogs made for good dog entertainment. Hammocks in the trees, Adirondack chairs, access to an outhouse and the platform made this a great work spot for the week. (Fantastic Verizon service). The area is on a hillside, but with some creative leveling my van was fine for sleeping. Hosts are responsive and warm hearted, and clearly take good care of the land as well as their guests.

Very private spot, well situated with the aspen grove behind the site and beautiful view of the mountains and fields. Road got very muddy due to the rain during our stay but was passable. Great little pond for kayaking and good access to local hikes and water areas.

This area was PERFECT!! So beautiful and private, gorgeous sunrise and sunset views, and very clean. It’s protected from wind by trees and hills which was great. Highly recommend!

Beautiful place to stay! So quiet and peaceful. Great place for evening walks just from the campsite but also close to town and amazing hikes, rivers, falls, reservoirs. The road in was a bit muddy after an unusually heavy rainstorm but the owner was close and attentive. Nothing a good pressure wash can’t fix.
