My husband and I work and live in Africa during the school year. We have 3 young boys and wanted them to be able to have a large place to explore and play, and learn to camp and enjoy nature. We purchased this cabin in 2021 from the original owners who built the home. We fell in love with the design of the cabin and the windows which allow great views of the river and wildlife. There is an Artesian well that is 200 feet deep in the granite ledge that the cabin sits on. Artesian wells are more common in sand and very uncommon in granite. This well provides some of the best water you’ll ever taste.The cabin has total privacy with no neighbors on either side. There are a couple cabins across the river and just north of the cabin that are visible when at the river's edge.The total acreage is approximately 6.5 with 300 feet of river frontage. The cabin is set back from the river, yet maintains a view of the river. At the river’s edge there is a picnic area deck with table and chairs.The land is wooded with a mix of small pine, some large pine old growth and hardwood. There are walking paths throughout the wooded lot. There are no houses on either side of the lot. It is not uncommon to see a lot of wildlife. There are many deer, grouse, eagles that nest just up the river, and an occasional bear. The 6.5 acres that the cabin sits on abuts 1500 acres of undeveloped land.

Many nice settings to gather: the big kitchen table, main room, fire pit. We had a big fresh ol’ hike on the trails surrounding the property. Crooked Creek was a perfect oasis away from the city. We really enjoyed the cozy vibes of the cabin, and the walking paths for us to enjoy. We wanted to get out but could not find camping with our trailer so my husband and I stayed in the Little Wooded Cottage. It was lovely. The cabin is super small but really cozy. I loved the mattress! It was incredibly comfortable. The cabin inside had a small chair, a nightstand, filled water jug and a few other small amenities. Outdoors came with a picnic table, fire pit, outdoor lighting and private outhouse ( which we appreciated) This cabin is not tucked away like the other cabins, you are close to the hosts home, but we had full privacy from the hosts and other campers. The cabin is shaded under pine trees and some maples and it was very quiet and serene. You are also within a 20 minute drive to Banning SP or St.Croix SP. I would book again for sure.

1 night at Northern Lights Cabin
Absolutely loved the space. Tucked away and got a good taste of what life (almost off grid) was like. The outdoor shower was a fun and the night sky was beautiful as we sat around the fire. There’s a boat and kayak at the end of the trail to take out on the little lake nearby. Close to so much but far enough where it was peaceful.

Group trip
We really enjoyed the Northern Lights Campground. It is close enough to everything you need and somehow super remote! We had so much fun on the lake with the canoe & kayak. We saw a whole flock of swans. Plus, the view of the sky was just what we were looking for! Eric was very helpful communication wise and answered all questions timely. We would definitely stay again in future years.
