Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Campground
Slow down among the forests and river scenery of Tucker County, West Virginia. Our 36-acre campground has approximately 2,100 feet of Dry Fork River frontage, with wooded campsites, riverfront gathering spots and year-round stays near Parsons and Monongahela National Forest.
CHOOSE YOUR STAY
Pitch a tent in the forest, gather at a riverfront campsite, or choose a rustic cabin, the Bohemian Bus Retreat, our wood-stove tipi, or RiverCamp Lodge with its two glamping tents. RV1–RV4 offer electric and seasonal water hookups; RV6–RV10 are primitive RV sites without hookups. The former RV5 location is now RiverCamp Lodge.
Riverfront sites have different group limits: RF1 includes eight guests with a maximum of 12; RF2 includes 10 with a maximum of 16; RF3 includes six with a maximum of eight. The Bus has eight indoor sleeping spaces across two buses. The tipi has four cots, with outdoor tent space for additional registered guests. Check each listing for its sleeping arrangements, included guest allowance, total capacity and extra-guest charges.
RIVER DAYS AND FOREST EVENINGS
Enjoy the designated river access areas, fishing, wading, swimming, tubing and kayaking when conditions allow. Bring your hiking boots and bikes to explore nearby trails and the Hendricks pedestrian swinging bridge. River levels and currents change with rainfall; supervise children and choose activities appropriate to the conditions.
SHARED FACILITIES
Campground porta-potties and the Coffee Pavilion are available to guests. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate cost $2 per cup. The wood-fired sauna is booked separately, and firewood is available for purchase. Water systems are winterized November 1–April 15; plan accordingly and review your listing’s water details. Parsons is approximately four miles away for shopping and dining.

Check-in begins at 12 noon; checkout is by 10 AM Follow the arrival instructions for your reserved site. Quiet hours are 10 PM–8 AM Pets must be leashed and supervised. Use designated fire rings, follow burn restrictions, and fully extinguish fires. Expect natural slopes, roots, rocks and changing ground conditions throughout this woodland campground.

Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. We stayed in Blackbear 2 and the view was incredible. The cabin was a little musty but once the window and screen door was open with the fan going, it was fine. We did end up using our sleep pad on top of the futon for some extra cushion because you could feel the bars when folded out. But it was all worth it for that view. The mini-fridge was bigger than expected and the TV has basic cable.
The campground and the staff are lovely. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The facilities and grounds were clean and there was a lot to do! My daughter enjoyed the playgrounds, playing along the shoreline, riding her bike, playing basketball, and the splash pad (which is fed by a well - so it is not on all the time. They announce the times - usually runs for an hour at a time). She even made a few friends at the playground which is close enough to see from this cabin. It was helpful not having 2 RVs behind us though - it made for clear sight lines to the playground. The camp store is full of basics and fun souvenirs.
I realized I still had the cabin key after we were long gone on the way home 😬 I called them to let them know we would mail it and they were very gracious.
I would definitely recommend the campground, especially for families. We would stay again on our next trip out for sure.

Rainbow 1 was a perfect retreat for my partner and I during some rainy days. The cabin felt spacious yet cozy for 2. The big tv in the living room was wonderful for gaming and the hot tub out back was lovely. The staff was a delight as well, full of good advice on all manner of topics. It was nice to have the cabin and running water / toilets near by… we enjoyed hiking all the trails, met a nice couple … when we comeback we won’t stay in the Stanley cabin because cars drove right by our window a few times each night and people were partying at the main building at 2am one night so our sleep was not good

We had a lovely stay! Our cabin area was tidy and very peaceful with the lull of the river in the background. We enjoyed walking to the bridge down the road and exploring the local trails and riverfront. Ample camping amenities: coffee/tea/drinks/wifi available near the office area, plenty of wood/fire starter for those who needed some, and the port a potty was clean. Pro tip: bring your own potable water or a filter. There is plenty of fresh water available, but it's not potable. Vincent was an incredibly accommodating and personable host and you can tell how hard he and his crew work to keep the site in tip-top shape!
