There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna.
I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose.
Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain.
Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking.
The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure!
I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do.

We recommend exercising caution when using them, especially for guests with mobility concerns, young children, or those who may be less sure-footed. Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements.
There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item.
In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV.
Outdoor Amenities:
Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Lounge in the double hammock, or challenge your friends to a friendly game of cornhole. We also provide extra camp chairs that you may take down to the creek. When exploring the field and creek area please look at boundary map in our pictures for property lines to respect our neighbors. Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are spotted daily, and our neighbors report occasional bear sightings.

For your convenience, we provide 6-8 pieces of firewood for your use during your stay. If you require additional firewood, we kindly ask that you bring your own or contact us. Cozy Bear sits right by the large noisy, trout stocked creek, and less than five miles from Hillsville, which has a grocery store, local shops, a gym, dining, and nearby hiking. There is a shared bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower, shared with tent guests occasionally. Inside Cozy Bear, there is a queen mattress up in the loft, and a sleeper sofa downstairs. The kitchen has a sink, coffee maker and on the deck is a blackstone griddle, a propane firepit and a wood burning firepit is by the creek. Cozy Bear has a composting toilet and a shower in the bathroom.

Inside the Cabin:
Our cozy cabin is thoughtfully designed to provide all the comforts of home. It features warm décor, with new furnishings and a well-equipped kitchen for your cooking needs.
Main floor sleeping arrangements are a bedroom with new memory foam queen bed, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Up the loft steps, a twin bed is located in the "Eagles landing", with a new memory foam double bed in the bedroom. Please be aware that the stairs are quite steep and were not designed with railing. We recommend exercising caution when using them, especially for guests with mobility concerns, young children, or those who may be less sure-footed. Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements.
There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item.
In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV.
Outdoor Amenities:
Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Lounge in the double hammock, or challenge your friends to a friendly game of cornhole. We also provide extra camp chairs that you may take down to the creek. When exploring the field and creek area please look at boundary map in our pictures for property lines to respect our neighbors. Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are spotted daily, and our neighbors report occasional bear sightings.
Firewood:
For your convenience, we provide 6-8 pieces of firewood for your use during your stay. If you require additional firewood, we kindly ask that you bring your own or contact us. We offer the option to use more firewood for a small donation. Just let us know, and we'll be happy to accommodate your needs.

I'm so glad we stayed here. This was such an incredible place it really feels like a hidden treasure. Incredible views EVERYWHERE. We came here specifically for the stars and milky way, which were amazing, but the fall colors really stole the show. This was the most wildflowers I've ever seen! Goldenrod in every direction. We were also completely alone here and there's plenty to explore. This is our new favorite place!

This is a fun place to stay if you’re visiting the Lewisburg area. Wish we could have stayed longer. I liked that there were yummy home cooked meals available right there onsite! The bathhouse was clean and nice. The cabins have a pretty good amount of space between them and the hosts were so kind when I ran out of drinking water. Bring your own bottles of water or you can purchase some at the little store. It was a fun experience with the animals and everything and the view of the mountains was unforgettable. Thank you!

The Cozy Bear was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. The cabin was beautifully designed, and included all the amenities we needed from kitchenware to a coffee bar to a fan. We used the sleeper sofa rather than the loft, and it was very comfortable. The site itself was beautiful; there was another tent within view, but far enough away that we still had privacy. We had great fun paddling in the creek and enjoying the mountain scenery - we hope to return again soon!

This spot was lovely to say the least. It’s in a quiet tucked away spot, I felt like I had enough privacy but took comfort in knowing the hosts live close by on the property in case of emergency.
They provided some water, firewood optional, a camping stove, lanterns and a few other small items that made a difference. My dog and I loved the pond that was just a short walk from the site. The dog who lives on the property was my dog’s little pal for the time we were there. Everything was clean by camping standards.
I got to truly relax here and it felt safe. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind in a very aesthetically pleasing setting. I would love to visit again sometime!

What a lovely retreat! A comfy & cozy stay tucked in the woods, surrounded by ferns and trees. Silas the canine camp host was a highlight…he played so respectfully with our old dog, we were shocked to see her running around with him and playing “tag!” The pond was great, and we look forward to coming back and exploring the trails! Our campsite was an easy walk to the pond and gathering areas, yet still felt completely private. FYI, the path down to the cabin is a little steep if you need to be mindful of how heavy your cooler is when you pack it. We highly recommend the fox den!
