Camping at Possum Holler Camp will provide you the perfect blend of solitude and recreation access. You will truly be in the heart of the New River National Park, yet still feel secluded in the beautiful woods without neighbors. You will have private access to beautiful and idyllic Mill Creek, which has many beautiful emerald pools and is even seasonally stocked with rainbow trout! Within a mile you can access the New River Gorge Bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center, and you are equally close to the park's world class climbing, rafting, hiking, ziplining, and mountain biking at the New River Gorge National Park and surrounding areas. Your group will have the entire camp to yourselves, so there's no need to worry about noisy neighbors. Our driveway has recently been revamped to include more flat parking and a less steep access route! While these improvements are great, we still caution our guests to avoid bringing large trailers and to use 4WD if available in an attempt to minimize rutting in the future. Seasoned hardwood firewood is available on site for $6/bundle. You are allowed to bring your own firewood, but only if you source your firewood locally because invasive pest species can travel in firewood. Possum Holler Camp is a Leave No Trace campsite, guests are asked to pack out anything they bring in and leave the area undisturbed. This includes damaging vegetation, creating new fire rings, or altering the natural area in any way. Also, please do not camp in the meadow area and only use the cleared out areas in the woods surrounding the parking and picnic/fire area for pitching tents. If you stay below the high water line, then feel free to move as far up or downstream Mill Creek as you like. The creek is indescribably beautiful in both directions! But please keep in mind that there is private property once you are above the high water line, please do not trespass on our neighbor's property.

Retreat to our tiny houses that look like miniature log cabins inside & enjoy the freedom of having the whole space to yourselves. Just like the kind in the TV shows, we built these last year. Our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area where we have 4 tiny houses in total**. All are self contained and on grid with full electric & water. **No children under age 10 and not pet friendly**WE CLOSE THEM DOWN FOR THE WINTER FROM OCT 22, 2023 to MAY 1, 2024*** We are located exactly 2 & 1/2 miles north of the New River Gorge Bridge which is the edge of town of Fayetteville. We are close to the location that Airbnb put us, but due to West Virginia addressing it is the closest we could show on their map. Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking about location, the tiny houses, activities, or anything!! ** No children under age of 10 and all tiny houses are not pet friendly** We love the location being 2 minutes from the New river and close to all national parks. The Gorge is an awesome site and we hope others enjoy are area as much as we do. Close to white water rafting and rock climbing areas too. Guests have access to the parking lot and the yards in back of the cabins. Feel free to bring a frisbie! Also have free access to free washing machines and dryers on the property as well. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be very cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. The first floor approximately 126 square feet including the bathroom. The second floor loft is approx. 80 square feet. Our water is city water on tap. ALSO, there are 4 of the tiny houses on that part of the campground. EVERY tiny house has it's own picnic table and fire ring. You will never share anything with any other tiny house guest. This is like the new tiny house hotels! All 4 of them are listed on Airbnb. Ask us for the Airbnb links to the others! Built just last year, our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We have 4 tiny houses in total. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area***. All of our tiny houses are completely self contained and on grid with full electricity and running water. ***Please note*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. ***IN THE EARLY SPRING AND AGAIN IN THE FALL UNTIL END OF OCTOBER**There is a space heater and also a wall heater. Please note that these may not warm up to 80 degrees or more*** ***PLEASE NOTE****The couch on the first floor has 3 sections that are stacked and are made out of a regular 8 " memory foam , full size bed mattress. The mattress was cut into 3 sections and each section covered. This can sleep 2 people but please note it is a full size mattress, not a queen size. The 3 sections lay next to each other & become a regular full size mattress on the floor. *****The fitted sheet included in the bedding will keep all the pieces put tightly together side by side*** Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking if you are unsure. There is a regular home mattress that is queen size in the loft as well. Both are very thick memory foam, regular bed mattresses with all pillows and bed linens provided. The bedding for the first floor bed will be laid out on the couch when you come in. There is a folding card table and 2 metal folding chairs in the tiny house. The full bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. We include towels, toilet paper, and hand soap. Usually the towel sets are underneath the bathroom sinks. You will have access to the laundry building where washers and dryers are free to use. Kitchenette has a kitchen sink with running water, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a hot plate. We include a Mr Coffee type coffee maker, filters, coffee and styrofoam coffee cups. We have one pot, one pan (which are specific to the hot plate), paper plates, paper bowls, plastic ware -knives, forks, and spoons, & plastic cups. We also provide liquid dish soap and paper towels. There is a television but no satellite, cable or local stations. Feel free to bring your own DVD player, games, etc. and cords. We do not supply cords for your devices. **Please Note** There is NO wifi. The entire New River Gorge area does not have a good service provider yet. Cell service in our area is usually very good for most carriers, as we are high up and off the main highway. Your cellular hot spot should work very well. Outside the tiny house, there is a picnic table and fire ring that you’re able to use to cook and push aside the grate later to sit around a fire. Firewood is for sale for $5 per bundle if you call the phone # on the door. They will deliver it in a short period of time. You may want to bring lawn chairs as I do not supply them. Also any outdoor cooking utensils would be good to bring as well. Love playing games? This is the place for you! More than enough space outside to play bags, horses, washers, frisbee, soccer, kickball...you name it! Ask me about our space! There is plenty of parking to include trailers and toys. Our tiny houses are along the side on the inside of a campground. Feel free to have a friend camp outside the tiny house. We have no parking rules, feel free to park right by your tiny house. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and the cleaning team wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination. Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir.  Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.   We have two price points: 1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. 2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Weekend Trip to Bluestone Camp & Retreat
Mark is a great host and communicator. He gave us clear directions on what roads are best for pulling a trailer. Our rv site was awesome as we were the only people staying here at the time. The sky was clear for amazing star gazing and this location is about an hour from New River Gorge National Park. T-Mobile home internet was “weak”, about 25 Mbps - but enough to stream a tv show. Verizon cell was about 2 bars and T-Mobile cell was 1 bar. One thing to consider when staying here is the road in is very steep - about 14-16% grade, so if you have more trailer than truck, you may burn up your transmission/brakes. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a great 3 night stay . Steep driveway looked daunting, but it was nicely graveled, and my 2 wheel drive van had no problems getting up or down. Provided porta potty was nice and clean . Bundles of firewood are available for sale on site that we took advantage of . Site was large and private . Multiple spots to set up tents or hammocks by the beautiful creek. The dog had a great time … was nice to be able to let her run around off leash . Great location with easy access to the bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Nice general store is just a short dive away that serves great food . We visited two breweries in the area … Free Folk Brewery and Bridge Works Brewery … recommend them both . Nicely wooded and shady while the leaves are on the trees. Tons of rhododendron trees … must be beautiful when they are in bloom . Would definitely stay here again in the future … highly recommended.

The bear camper had everything guests would need for a getaway in the woods such as air conditioner, space heater, extra blankets, camping area/seating and TV. With no cell reception and wifi, it was a true unplugged experience. The farm also had many types of animals - donkey, peacocks, pigs, hens, cats and goats. Guests being able to pet and feed them was really fascinating and fun! Farm fresh breakfast in their marketplace was great as well. It was a bit of a hike to the camper and was challenging to carry luggage from the designated parking. Specific parking should be provided near this camper (on the hill). Overall, a great experience away from home. We would love to come back and visit.

We absolutely loved this campsite. It was very secluded and beautiful. There is a little bit of road noise but it's really not that bad. With all that this area has to offer the road noise is worth it. It is right next to a creek and if the water had been flowing it would have been even better. We are definitely planning I'm going back in the spring. There are rhododendrum trees all around at the campsite, I'm told that they will bloom beautifully, I cannot wait to see them. Our host was always responsive and keeps the site very nice! Having the firewood already there and the portapotty was a real bonus. I cannot say enough nice things about this pla e. It is one of the best HipCamps I've ever been to. The location is perfect literally minutes from the area's hiking and whitewater rafting and so much more.

This location is a must see! Could not have chosen a more perfect place for my first tent camping experience in over 15 years. It was a beautiful spot and the pictures don’t begin to compare to the real thing. The grounds are perfectly maintained and the bathhouse was spotless clean. It’s got a charm and nostalgic feel that would be hard to find elsewhere. Mark was a great host and a pleasure to chat with. I’m not an experienced camper but can say with confidence that this place has set the bar high and will be hard to top.

This is a fun place to stay if you’re visiting the Lewisburg area. Wish we could have stayed longer. I liked that there were yummy home cooked meals available right there onsite! The bathhouse was clean and nice. The cabins have a pretty good amount of space between them and the hosts were so kind when I ran out of drinking water. Bring your own bottles of water or you can purchase some at the little store. It was a fun experience with the animals and everything and the view of the mountains was unforgettable. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed escaping the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We were thrilled to bring our two large dogs with us and enjoy the creek and the beauty of WV nature. We had several trees to choose from to hang our hammocks and plenty of room to put up our tents. You can hear the creek water trickling as you relax near the fire pit. There was a tote with items that were helpful and a grill as well as bundles of firewood that could easily be purchased. Check in and out was amazing as we did not have to meet with anyone. We were able to enjoy our short stay without worrying about neighboring campers which was the experience we were needing and hoping for.

Things we loved: - Firewood onsite - Easy access to creek - Rhododendrons in bloom everywhere - Shaded with dappled light - 5 min drive to New River Gorge Visitor Center - Tarp covering over picnic table - Each tent site was tucked away between the trees with pathways in between. Enough privacy between tents but still felt close enough to others. Things to be aware of: - Road to site is very steep. Everyone who joined in sedans parked at the top of the hill. People with SUVs and trucks parked at the campsite. - Road to get to site is a little narrow. Just be careful and be prepared to pull off if need be! It’s about 1.5 cars wide.

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table.  We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay.  What to bring Your tent and camping equipment Potable water and/or water filtration and purification equipment Fire starting equipment if needed, assuming there is no local fire ban in place Pets are welcome During warm months, a swim suit to enjoy the river! There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. Guests can locally enjoy fly fishing, kayaking, biking, hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, and photography, etc. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. Google link, trail map, and campsite location map will be emailed the day before arrival.
