Do yourself a favor and book this site! We loved every moment of our stay on Rod’s ‘oasis’. The views were stunning, the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful, and we even got to leave with some fresh blue crabs from the local watermen - such a cool experience. Rod was wonderfully welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, and we learned some fascinating facts about the local culture. Thank you, Rod, for an amazing stay!

Roderick was super kind. He let me move to the spot with the best morning sunrise view, made sure I knew where the fire pit was and left the light on in the outside portal potty. He stood around for a moment to answer all my questions about his site, made me feel very comfortable. What a wonderful place to wake up, the sunrise was absolutely stunning.

Simple family friendly and family run campground with all the needed resources. We don’t use any of the resources of the full fledged resort campgrounds. But Busch Gardens is just a few miles away if that is what you want. We stayed two extra days to better explore Colonial Williamsburg and the other historical sites - our main goals for this stay.

Weekend Trip to Pine Meadows Primitive Campground

My lady and I visited Pine Meadows on a gorgeous weather fall weekend in Oct. Erik's place is remote enough to not hear any cars - fulfilled our goal of peaceful solitude! Simple instructions, and Erik was friendly and easy to communicate with. We were able to have a super nice campfire, just chilling in the woods. Fell asleep to the gentle chorus of crickets, woke up to beautiful bird songs. Saw some different warblers and cool uncommon butterflies. The campsites are nestled into a huge stand of pines. We visited the nearby preserves, Bethel Beach and New Point Comfort. Both deserve a visit, to observe healthy natural ecosystems. A terrific experience - we will definitely be back!

The site was quiet and beautiful. We really enjoyed walking the farm and seeing the animals. I caught my first Bluegill in the lovely fishing pond. I would definitely recommend Peace Hill Farm if you’re looking for peace and quiet in a rustic rural setting.

Weekend Trip to Solitude at Thornton Farm

Best place ever! We came and had our first camping trip as a family. Marvin and his wife were extremely kind, understanding, patient and supportive. My ten year old son absolutely loved camping here at the farm and Marvin made us feel like we were at our other home. We are already planning to go back! What a dream of a trip! Thank you Marvin for ensuring my son and husband are convinced camping is our thing. And being only a hour from Downtown Norfolk, oh we will def return often as we can.

Weekend Trip to Anvil Campground

Such a well-maintained campground! The staff were super friendly and I just kept being so impressed by how clean everything was. Every single time I went into the bathroom, day or night, it looked as if it had just been wiped down. The pool was nicely warm and relaxing, and even though I didn't travel with kids, I think it's great that they had a playground and all kinds of different activities for them. I don't usually look for electric hook up when I travel, but this was a nice luxury this time. Would definitely stay here again!
