Complete with outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic table, well maintained outhouse, miles of trails and a large swimming or fishing pond (catch and release). This is a secluded off grid location without power, wifi, or cell service, so be prepared to UNPLUG and unwind. Firewood for your first campfire is provided along with one tank of propane to run the indoor camp stove. Five gallons of drinking water are included with coffee and a French press. There is a cooler provided. Remember to bring ice for your groceries and sleeping bags! Please include an extra rental fee of $20 for pets (up to 3). What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. The host is very responsive to any questions and the location is great. #5 is a great spot! We had enough space to set up a tailgate tent with our vehicle. The spot is set up on high ground so there's plenty of space for rain water to drain away. The spot also overlooks a stream though we didn't venture out to it. Make sure to read Chris' directions for how to find the campsite so you don't miss the driveway you should take to enter the property. The bathroom and shower were adequate and about a 2 minute walk from #5. All in all, great place and I would stay again if I'm in the area.

This spot was lovely to say the least. It’s in a quiet tucked away spot, I felt like I had enough privacy but took comfort in knowing the hosts live close by on the property in case of emergency. They provided some water, firewood optional, a camping stove, lanterns and a few other small items that made a difference. My dog and I loved the pond that was just a short walk from the site. The dog who lives on the property was my dog’s little pal for the time we were there. Everything was clean by camping standards. I got to truly relax here and it felt safe. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind in a very aesthetically pleasing setting. I would love to visit again sometime!

What a lovely retreat! A comfy & cozy stay tucked in the woods, surrounded by ferns and trees. Silas the canine camp host was a highlight…he played so respectfully with our old dog, we were shocked to see her running around with him and playing “tag!” The pond was great, and we look forward to coming back and exploring the trails! Our campsite was an easy walk to the pond and gathering areas, yet still felt completely private. FYI, the path down to the cabin is a little steep if you need to be mindful of how heavy your cooler is when you pack it. We highly recommend the fox den!

Breathtaking views and quiet. My family enjoyed an incredible spring night at WestWinds as we travelled across the state in a 27' RV. Lynne was an excellent hostess, providing clear directions to drive into her remote property deep in the Jefferson National Forest. The West Winds grounds include a large barn converted into a wedding venue, which includes two restrooms. The site looks out across many miles of forested hilltops with no other homes in site. During our stay, we were the only guests, and the sense of peace was divine. Late in the evening, our family enjoyed the swinging chairs, stargazing at the spectacular sky, and the quite peace that is West Winds. We can't say enough about Lynne and her hospitality. We look forward to our next visit!

We had a great stay at site #5! It was a very last minute thing to do with our kids and Chris’ place just kept popping out to us. We set up a tent and enjoyed the fire making hotdogs and marshmallows! The creek is clear and my son even caught his first crawdad lol. Listening to the creek at night is so peaceful I will definitely bring my family again. We met Chris and his family upon arrival and they seemed very nice. Highly recommend 👍🏼

Chris and his German shepherd were great hosts. Had a sweet little spot by the creek at site #5. The bathhouse was clean and the water was nice and hot. It’s close to the road but not so close you hear much at all. Chris also helped me pick a site in order to work remotely which was very helpful. He allowed me to take my time the next day and made sure I found some trails on the property. Definitely recommend.

Our stay at Jeanene’s Hipcamp was nothing short of amazing! We were able to truly connect with nature, enjoy a beautiful hike, and take time to recharge our souls. One of the highlights was hanging out with Sila, the sweetest dog who made our experience even more special. We’ve traveled to many places, including Colorado, but this spot has a unique charm that sets it apart. The peaceful surroundings and thoughtful touches made it a perfect getaway.
