Weekend Trip to Private River - RV or tent
Great location right off the water. Plenty of launch space for paddle boards and kayaks. We tent camped so I can’t speak for the RV hookups but lots of space to rest/relax and let the dog run around. Fire pits very nice, quite a few neighboring campers but not noisy in the evening and no traffic noise once the sun went down. Very close to town for supplies and shops for anything we needed. Will definitely consider for future rentals when we’re in the area.

This property is picturesque and very private. The hosts are incredibly generous and available - there are kayaks, fishing gear, cornhole and kites provided. Watching the herons and ospreys feed right in front of us reminded us of the old Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom hour. A crab house, a bar and a market are within strolling distance. Cell service (with Verizon) is poor, but that’s not necessarily a negative. We’ve already scheduled another long weekend.

We could not have found a more peaceful, beautiful RV site on the water that restores our soul. The view from our camper over the pier to the water was breathtaking!We loved the fact that we didn't have to share the site with anyone, Patricia and her husband were extremely helpful in giving us fishing tips and they had all manner of water "toys" available- kayaks, fishing poles, and even a couple of bikes! We are definitely coming back in warmer weather to take full advantage!

We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

If vineyards and breweries are your thing we are just 15 - 30 minutes from many fine establishments. A few of our favorites are Black Ankle Vineyards, Linganore Winecellars and Attaboy Beer. Antique shopping abounds in the nearby charming, little town of New Market. So you're hungry and have a hankering for local cuisine? Take a five minute drive to the quaint downtown of Union Bridge and visit one of the three delicious family run restaurants.
