We are a husband-and-wife team that purchased raw land in 2020 and have been building Glamping Canyonlands ever since. We privately own and operate a sustainable off grid property. We proudly run our business off solar power. We have a recycling and compost program along with happy pasture raised chickens and free range kittens. We work to reduce waste by supporting businesses that focus on the environment, health and using non-plastic products where we can. We use simple, clean, natural cleaning products. We do not use single use plastic and provide washable cotton paper towels and hand towels. We work with locals to bring you tours, pastries, breads and hand crafted souvenirs for you to remember your trip. We have a mix of different unique units so there is something for everyone. 3 bell tents, 1 stargazing lotus tent, 1 safari tent, cedar pod, moon stargazing barrel, solar powered casita and an unfurnished high rise tent. We have 22 acres and we are currently using around 5 acres. We like to space out our units so there is privacy at every units. We have a communal kitchen that is equipped to make some gourmet meals. Flat top grill, BBQ Box, pizza oven and a stove. Communal modern bathrooms with hand towels and bath supplies are available. Sauna is available to our guests along with coffee and breakfast delivery. Late check-ins are available. Located on private and rural land 40 mins South of Moab and 40 mins from the entrance of The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park (the hikers paradise park!) Our land borders Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands and State Trust Lands which means you have a panoramic view of the desert landscape and dark skies. We are surrounded by Dark Sky National Parks, State Park, Monuments and communities. Because of this, light population is almost non-existent. We built this place to be an escape or a place to unwind from our busy and loud daily lives. Embrace the break from the daily grind and find space here on the open desert. We opened to our first guests in October 2020 with only 3 bell tents, 1 bathroom and a kitchen inside a tent. There is a community space just down the road that offers early morning meditation, ecstatic dance nights and other events. There are two spaces for guests, one is a Japanese camper-van that can comfortably sleep 2 (maybe plus 1 child on top bunk). The other space is a camp room inside the community home. The room is tiny, best for 1 guest. All guests may use the bathroom and kitchen inside the home. We keep an Ahimsa space and would like guests to respect that, No smoking or substance use on the property. Please only vegetarian foods inside the spaces. All cleaning products, bathing products, sheets and towels are natural and organic. There are house pets, a cat and a boxer dog. Setup your tent and enjoy some respite before and after exploring the beautiful canyons and desert landscapes that surround the Desert Moon and beyond. We have 2 showers, bathrooms, potable water, picnic tables, and wifi on site. There is also a covered seating area for guest use by our Inn. There are 5 campsites total. Please note, the Union Pacific Railroad is right across the street, with trains passing by multiple times a day and night. There will be noise at night. Campsites are relatively close together so you will likely see other campers during your stay. Also, there is not a lot of shade on the property so be prepared. Thompson Springs began as a railroad stop on the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in the mid to late 1800's. It soon became a shipping point and community center for local farmers, cattle ranchers and sheepherders. It is now a ghost-town with a population of 50 people. The Desert Moon has a true wild western past. The old dancehall on the property, The Cactus Caberet, once served as the town bar and brothel. We are currently in the process renovating the dancehall into a venue for live music and retreats. There are 8-12 staff members living on site in their personal RV's at all times. We are a small community of artists, builders, and adventurers. We are constantly working to improve this property that came under our ownership in July of 2020. Feel free to come say hello and ask us about what we are building here! Thompson Springs is a true "ghost town" with no retail or restaurants except a 7-11 off the I-70 exit. The towns of Moab and Green River are only a half hour drive away and are full of regional and eclectic restaurants and shops. The Desert Moon is located just four miles from the Sego Canyon Rock Art in the Bookcliffs featuring pictograph and petroglyph panels from three different Native American cultures: Barrier, Fremont, and Ute. Be sure to check them out! There are miles of off-road trails accessible from our property. Some require a 4x4 vehicle or dirtbike, but many are well maintained enough for almost any vehicle.

Weekend Trip to High Sage Hogans

We had such a great stay! The tipi was a really cool and unique camping experience, close enough to Moab to get to everything easily, but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle of town. It was peaceful, quiet, and exactly what we were looking for. Our favorite part of the trip was definitely Ringo, the sweet dog on the property. He “showed us around” and played with our dog the entire stay. Watching them run and explore together was honestly a highlight. Danny was incredibly kind and hospitable. He checked in on us, made sure we were comfortable, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his guests having a good experience. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We have never glamped before staying at Glamping Canyonlands. What a great find through hipcamp! Close but not in the crowds to explore The Needles District. Erik and Keshie’s thoughtful touches and witty humor made the stay fantastic! They really have thought about all the small details needed for a great stay. The ability to cook over fire or use the community kitchen (thankful for the french press), the showers/toilets, hammocks with shaded picnic tables. The kitties and chickens were fun to see and was great reading about their story on how they built Glamping Canyonlands. Stargazing at night and quiet mornings. We can’t wait to come back and bring friends!

Loved the tipi Glampcamping, lots of amenities to keep you comfortable. Beautiful view of ridge in Moab, small dog park for dogs to run off leash and complimentary coffee and pastries at their office made it extra special. I also have to praise them for fixing issues we had when we first arrived, very considerate and good customer service.

Danny was amazing! I love camping and staying at places where hosts put in effort to create a relationship with the people staying. We loved Ringo (the dog) as well and Danny even offered us some fresh veggies from his beautiful garden. I honestly cannot wait to come back to Utah just to hang out and stay a couple nights. 11/10 and 6 stars (out of 5). If you love people, dogs, farm animals, gardens, and watching the sun rise in the Utah desert, this is the place to stay! Thank you Danny. We’ll be back.

I absolutely love this place! The vibes and aesthetic of it are perfect; Keshia and Erik have beautiful taste. The place was immaculately clean - cleaner than some hotels, and this is an outdoor accommodation. The facilities were always available and very tidy, full of any supplies you could need. The sauna was such a highlight and easy to book. There were even kittens and chickens running around, which added so much to the experience. Our space felt very private while being close to the amenities. Keshia and Erik make it look easy running this place! 100% will be back!

We had a wonderful time. This was our first time glamping and camping in general. Beautiful well kept property. Tents were super cute and spacious. The weather was perfect and we slept very comfortably at night, no heater needed. Loved the little details with signage and lighting. The kittens and chickens made the stay extra special. Awesome location close to the national parks we went to Canyon Lands and Arches. I would absolutely recommend!
