Located in north western Hill County 15 miles from I-35, Hideout Ridge looks out upon the highest point in the county. Each camp site is separated by trees. A cedar bathhouse with a toilet and hot water shower is a five minute walk from the tent sites and non potable water is available from the tap. A fire pit is available except during dry conditions . There’s a small TV room/sitting area, an outdoor deck with a small patio table, and a private yard area with a fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill (bring charcoal and starter). You can even set up a tent in the yard — best of both worlds!
We sit on 3.5 acres with trails to explore. The property is fenced in, so you won’t accidentally wander off. When we moved here three years ago, the trails were very rough; we’ve been slowly improving them.
They’re by no means spectacular, but they’re fun — especially for kids looking for rabbits, roadrunners, toads, deer, and who knows what else. There are no creeks, ponds, or other water features, just good old dirt!

Weekend Trip to Hideout Ridge
Magnificent place! Secluded and quiet. Lots of trails to walk and find interesting things. Don’t be like me and forget to bring food and a way to cook it if there’s a burn ban because the stores are not exactly a 5 minute trip. We will be back without a doubt!
