Twisted Oaks

32 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · San Marcos, TX
. Twisted Oaks is located on 20 acres of tree lined Texas Hill Country nestled in the heart of San Marcos. I've been here over 35 years. I work on my property and from my property. My shop is away from campsites but is ON the property. If seeing a tractor while you are hiking around offends you somehow this may not be a good choice. I have taken a lot of care and pride in my work on twisted oaks. We have 10-15 campsites all named after the colors in a rainbow. We offer rentals of kayaks, coleman camp stoves, triple burner propane very large, mr buddy propane heaters jackery 1000 watt and bluetti 600 watt solar generators or a tent if this your first time. payment for extras can be cash or Venmo. If you have any special needs please feel free to contact me. thanks and hope to see you soon. to reduce impact on our property we limit the vehicles to 1 per site any extra vehicle is $5 smalls $7 trucks. This fee is used to do mulching and road repairs to keep things smooth. If you decide to change dates there will be a $25- $50 fee based on your total booking We sell seasoned oak and juniper hardwood. We are a small microbusiness and would really appreciate if you purchase wood here rather than at a large box store. It is your choice but just so you know you will get twice the wood for maybe half the price. We sell a large wheelbarrow load for $20 or half load for $10. Kindling is gratis. Please check the weather forecast before booking. Texas weather can change on a dime. Also if it is raining in Austin or San Antonio it may be bone dry here. We can not be responsible for the weather or your selection of gear. I prefer winter camping with a nice fire and a cup of coffee. We have invested in clothing and gear to withstand below freezing temps. When campers book we go through a routine to make sure all sites are ready for YOU. There are times were we have had to change or modify our plans to accommodate our "guests" . Changing dates will incur a small fee. Please be fair. Our cancellation policy is strict and it it set as such to protect campers and host alike. We set a high standard for our camp but this is to ensure that all campers will have a great experience. Pay attention to the rules. Using common sense is what we ask. Treat our property as you would have us treat your place...it's really that simple. Hope this does not scare you away. Read the reviews and you will see the common thread is that we are nice helpful folks. See you soon!

We love preserving and celebrating nature as we incorporate and teach our regenerative and permaculture farming practices throughout our land. We have a full time nature academy and Farm School for kids and several livestock that call this land home. Currently we have several cows and beehives with some donkeys, Shetland ponies, and chickens on their way soon! Double Rockin' M Ranch

8 sites · RVs, Tents34 acres · Spicewood, TX
In 1978, my grandparents bought 35 acres in Spicewood, TX with the goal of building their very own home. Together, they built an authentic log cabin, complete with weathered wood and mud-packed walls. Before my grandfather passed, he spent many weekends holding gatherings with friends, hosting shows for local Austin musicians, and providing family with an escape from bustling cities. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his piece of the countryside with those he held dear. Now, in hopes of keeping my late grandfather's memory alive, we are inviting campers to come enjoy the land he had loved for so many years. We are not a business or rental company, we are a family. The property is owned and maintained by my grandmother, my mother, and myself. All profits derived from Hipcamp go back into supporting the property so that we can keep it in the family for years to come. By staying with us, you are directly supporting our family, for which we are extremely grateful. Amenities shared between the sites include a private toilet, potable well water, a large picnic area, an electrical outlet that can support 2 plugs, 2 contained fire pits, and 1 chimnea. Please do not hesitate to contact us for special requests, questions, or concerns.

Get Away Cabin @ Mandala Hills

2 sites · Lodging5 acres · Austin, TX
This sacred land is an oasis for healing in nature. It is undeveloped and solely used for private stays and small events/ ceremonies. You will feel a wave of comfort the moment you arrive.Secluded and private, find yourself connecting to the land with your friends, family, or yourself, here at Mandala Hills. Surrounded by oaks and cedar trees, you can relax in nature. The area has incredible sunrises and sunsets, so close to downtown but feels like you're far away in the country. There may be wellness classes being held further down the property. You are more than welcome to attend. Hiking, swimming, and kayaking are within a 20-minute drive! These destinations include Barton Springs, Lady Bird Lake, and Wildflower Centerlots.  Art and food are close as well when venturing into Austin which is also only 20 minutes from our oasis. Other cities are not too much further with Johnson City, Fredericksburg, San Marcos, and Dripping springs being 45 minutes or less of a drive.  A bit about us.  We are a family of 4 who lives on the land next door. This is sacred Native land where you can feel the healing energy. You may even find an arrowhead. The host is here if you need them, but you are able to enjoy your solitude. Respect the land and the cabin, they are very special. This is not a party place, rather a place to just BE.
