Weekend Trip to Treehouse on the Creek
Steve was a wonderful gracious host. The treehouse was splendid. The trails are a nice short walk with plenty of critters. At night it looks beautiful seeing the fireflies fill the horizon. I only stayed a night but it was a lovely experience. Steve was very helpful and kind.

Steve was great! It rained the day before we came and he took the time to let us know it probably wouldn’t be so comfortable with all the mud and accommodated us in the town near by until it dried overnight! He’s super friendly and we enjoyed our stay! The property is amazing is great for a get away!

We just took a camping trip at the Oak View tent at The Park, bushy creek during our daughters spring break. Unfortunately it was super windy the entire time we were there, but we still had a blast. The tent is super well kept, decore is great and air mattresses were great. The location is perfect in that it is far enough to get a good drive going from Dallas, but still within 10 minutes of a store. We definitely plan on going back in the future!

Nice place. April was very accommodating. There was too much wind to say in the Teepee. We camped in tents. There was too much wind to use the water, we flew kites. We had a great time, but we were very flexible. Keep an open mind and you'll have fun, too!

We had a fantastic experience!! Beautiful land, adorable animals and tent. We had a great time walking down to the creek, and feeding the pigs!! The goats were so fun to see. The tent was very clean and had all of the amenities pictured (even the S'mores bucket!!). I will absolutely be coming back here to stay. Thank you for everything!

Perhaps it was because I was the only one adventurous (read as dumb) enough to go camping in winter, but I had this entire property to myself and it was nice! Took a stroll down the creek, fed some pigs and goats, listened to the coyotes at night (it’s the countryside.) Steffenie was nice, and had things available that I wasn’t expecting, like some fire pits and extra wood to burn, a nice loft couch to chill on, and even a port-a-potty, should emergency arise or one come unprepared (I was prepared, but nice to know about backups). The property was nice and clean, and nothing bothered me at all.

The tent and amenities were beautiful!! Stephanie provided extra cooking utensils, complementary s'mores and firewood. The pigs and goats were friendly and we were given permission to feed them as well. There was plenty of land to explore which the dogs loved! It all made for a really relaxing tech free weekend. Would definitely come back!

My 2 boys (8 and 10) had a blast. One of their favorite hip camps yet. We fished both ponds, rode horses and walked the trails. April was a gracious host and very patient and informative while teaching the boys some basics of horseback riding. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you for hosting us, April!

Weekend Trip to Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp
We brought our small RV and Tent and were in Tent Camping site 1 which had a picnic table, water and the restrooms were nearby. We went to the nearby Aubrey Oaks Alpaca Farm in the morning, (be sure to make reservations in advance), then went hiking on the Randy Bell Scenic Trail at Ray Roberts Isle du Bois State Park and then returned to camp for archery and enjoyed smores and campfire stories at the large campfire area. The campsite didn't have much in the way of shade, so consider bringing your own canopy or tarp. If you plan to go horseback riding or archery, be sure to coordinate with the host in advance and bring carrots to feed the horses. Great camping experience with the grandkids!

We're situated just outside Trenton on 55 acres of gently sloping terrain featuring a wide creek and expansive grounds beyond the Big Oak, perfect for exploration. Enjoy stunning sunsets, a clear view of the night sky, the tranquil sounds of the creek, and occasional visits from deer, all contributing to a peaceful retreat. Our property is evolving as we create manicured groves and open pastures for both our farm animals and guests. During rainy spells, expect some mud and occasional sightings of heavy equipment or tractors. Our livestock rotate between our two properties, so they may not always be here at The PARK at Brushy Creek. If you don't see them here, you're welcome to visit our other property across the road with the big green gate. Currently, there is no electricity or Wi-Fi on the property. Lighting is provided by solar power or batteries. Tent sites have access to a water spigot, and there's a Port-o-let nearby. This is rural country living; our neighbors' livestock and dogs may make sounds like bleating, barking, oinking, mooing, neighing, squealing, whinnying, braying, or whining at any time of day or night. We are conveniently located one hour north of Dallas Fort Worth, just 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, and within 10 miles of Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham. Trenton is only five miles away. Several lakes are nearby including Lake Bonham, Lake Texoma, and the new Bois' d Arc Lake. In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.
