Peaceful and beautiful. Stayed for one night end of May. It was hot and we camped in a shady spot. Thankful for the wheel carts. Randall was a great a host and we enjoyed the fire he started. We survived our first thunderstorm and slept peacefully. Will be back in fall!

Randall was very accommodating and had great communication! I stayed in the treehouse with my 2 kids and we all loved it and slept well. Its a very peaceful area and we were able to enjoy waking up next to the pond, catching a few fish and getting on the water with kayaks and paddleboards that were available to use. Definitely made some memories!

We had a great time camping here. The spot we had was surrounded with trees and pretty secluded, it provided us privacy. In the morning, I love watching sunrise in front of the pond. By nightfall, you can hear the sound of nature- birds and more. It was a very relaxing weekend. Randall was a pleasant host. Long hikes are not possible, but there are pathways to walk around. Great option for primitive campers. Water is available but you need to walk from point A to B. Overall experience, great!

Our small Girl Scout troop really enjoyed a laid back first time tent camping experience here at Llamaland Ranch. We opted for the pavilion site so we had access to running water, electric outlets, a really nice grill, and a small mini fridge. It was the perfect set up and for an experienced camper like myself it really felt like glamping. Judy and her son were very helpful and friendly. They provided plenty of feed for us to feed the Llamas and we didn't have any issues with them. The llamas were very gentle and curious. They came and went several times during our stay to visit us and other people in the other campsites. It was a beautiful place and I plan to come back out with family and friends in the future!

Welcome to Texas Safari Camp Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 900 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals. Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts (with as many as 40 people) for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and creating new friendships and memories. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House overlooks the front pond and features a queen bed, a smaller bed in the loft, electricity, lights, a fan, screened operable windows and outdoor table and chairs on the elevated deck. There is no heat or air conditioning in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink and faucet.

Property has been in family since 1987. The land has a rich history of wild boars and other wildlife. There is a live creek that runs along one of the property lines and is 50 ft deep. Pastures are mowed three times a year and always look beautiful. There is some terrain that is rough and the land has not been traveled. Bring machetes and a compass (We are not a rescue team). The land is ready to be loved by our visitors. The llamas will come to greet you and so will many more things in this wonderful place. We are conveniently located in a secluded area, but just a short drive from many local conveniences. Come enjoy the beautiful landscape and make memories you can treasure forever. In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.
