Avinger Station RV Park The History of the Station Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998. It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021 after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again. A dumpster is available for bagged trash. •A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required. •Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent. •The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must not be given out to anyone of your party. •Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while outside your RV at all times. •Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control, and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins are available for waste. •Use of generations is prohibited, expect during a power storage. •Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park is prohibited. •Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot (office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.) •Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you. 2 nights at Diamond JK Boyd Ranch

Pros: - Joe and Joe Sr. were so friendly and welcoming. They were the best part of this site. - They made every effort to accomodate our needs. - Beautiful land, very quiet. - Joe Sr. took us on a tour of the property, including his ATV area. - Lots of hang out spaces under covered areas, so could accomodate very large groups. Cons: - The Electrical box malfunctioned and we were not able to hook up our 50 amp. We tried the 20 amp but that ended up failing too. We ended up having to run our generator, but the hosts covered our gas. They felt so badly about this and were trying to fix the unexpected problem. - The bathrooms were very rustic. The women’s door was locked, and the men’s bathroom had flushing troubles. The inside bathroom was fine, but with 8 in our party, it was inconvenient to only have one bathroom/shower. There were no sewage hookups. - Spaces need updating - Price was high for partial hookup and out-dated, poorly functioning spaces

1 night at Avinger Station RV Park

This was my second stay at Avinger RV Park. I love the size of the park. I think there are only 14 sites on the property. There are plenty of pull through sites. It is very clean and the full time RVers keep their site clean. There is a weight room, bathroom with shower and FREE washers and dryers. They are renovating the station. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it's complete.

Weekend Trip to South Tyler RV Park

Location is easy to get in and out, and it is close to the main road through the town. The grounds are well kept and it was quiet. Site 38 was not level, but I was only there one night, and I chose to be along the back fence. They have larger, pull through spots that are more level in the middle row. Sites are gravel with full hookups. I only used electric and the post looked new and was clean. (no spider webs) They have a nice, clean laundry with clean newer looking machines, which was great since I needed to do laundry. They do not have a bathhouse or restrooms. It was a great spot to stay overnight and I was able to book the same day so it really helped me on my travels.

Weekend Trip to Texas State Railroad Campground

It was not busy at all when we went 2nd weekend in November 2024. We did change spots we were not in #5, we switched to #9. Only negative thing is that you can hear the road noise, no way around that though. I am sure it is a packed park in December because that is where the Santa Christmas Train is in Rusk, Texas!
