A network of trails criss-cross the creek and wind throughout the property under a peaceful canopy of large beautiful trees. Don't be surprised if you run into deer, squirrels, or roadrunners! Our property is home to a wide variety of hill-country wildlife. - Each of our campsites are private and surrounded by forest. - Each site has a fire ring for campfires - Our trees are our most precious natural resource and set this campground apart! All of our sites are hammock-friendly. - When you check-in, just text us, your host will help you find your campsite. - Some sites are drive-in where your vehicle can park right next to the fire. Others are walk-in and require a short hike of 100' or less from your parking space. You can indicate your preference during booking or at check-in. If you want to drive right into your site, Campsites 2, 3, 6, and 12 are the sites you want. Some of our campsites are more secluded than others and offer extreme privacy in the most beautiful settings we have to offer. If you're looking for a wilder campsite surrounded by huge old trees and all the peace the woods have to offer, just request Campsites 4, 5, 7, or 8. Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring. Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite over rough terrain. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful! Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you. We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. Please use it and put all your trash in there. Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property. Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! For their safety and the safety of our livestock please keep them leashed while on property.

Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare. The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable. We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm. We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025. If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping. We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.  Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare. The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable. We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm. We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025. If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.  Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. Fernweh means "a longing for distant places, a yearning for travel." My place in the Hill Country welcomes and satisfies that yearning for getting away and losing oneself in nature. The sunrises are spectacular and watching the deer, birds, rabbits, and other fauna is fun. It's a beautiful place for relaxing and star gazing at night. There are no bathrooms. You must bring camping toilets and take out your trash. If there isn't a burn ban, you may use the fire pits we provide. The grounds are perfect for tent camping. Our property is right off Hwy 16 eight miles to downtown Kerrville and the Guadalupe River, 34 miles to Fredericksburg, 15 miles to Medina, and 29 miles to Bandera, TX. During May 26 to June 12, you are one tenth of a mile from the Kerrville Folklife Festival. Consider this a stopping and resting point between your adventures in the Hill Country! Only tents are allowed. No pets and only adults, please. Mostly flat terrain. Dry ground January-March and pretty lush during April-June.

Leann's land is in a remote, beautiful part of Hill Country --we were the only people camping on the property so it was extra quiet and peaceful. My 9 year old roamed the property with his trusty map and felt like a true explorer. The campground is close to Garner State Park and about a half hour from Lost Maples.

Great experience. First time camping out doors with the family, not very far out and really accessible. We had called the owner and he quickly answered, definitely giving it a 5 star review. Only thing that would make it better, is haveing a little better directions to the camp sites, other than that, we will definitely be going back soon

My fiancé asked to go camping for her birthday, and we settled on this place. We showed up in the dark to our tent sight because she wanted to get her hair done that day also (don't ask), and because we weren't familiar with the area, we asked a local sheriff's deputy for directions. He told us where to go, but we accidentally ended up in sight 7 instead of 1 (our fault, it was dark). We realized our mistake the next morning and called the front desk, and they were incredibly kind. We insisted we'd pack up and move, but they didn't care, as nobody else had site 7 booked. We enjoyed a great time of calm walking trails and lovely scenery. My fiancé had never seen a ring-tailed cat, but we saw one fight over a tree with a couple squirrels! (Fun to watch for me). Long story short, this is a great, calm place for RV, camper, and tent sites. Btw, site 7 for tents is the best one. It has a table, water spicket, porta-potty (very clean), and is right next to a trail entrance.

This place is almost paradise. The only thing missing is water in the river, not the property's fault though, and any separation of space between RVs. I enjoyed everything about Alamo River. The location is remote and quiet. The paths were very open and well kept. The staff is awesome. The cleanliness of the park is immaculate. The stars above were incredible. My neighbor's were great. Checking in and extending was incredibly easy...I could go on but you know you need to book already!!

I have nothing but great feels for this patch of nature. I stayed a week. I enjoyed walks, peace and quiet and literal tranquillity along with campfires and cooking on the open pit. The best part was when the neighborhoods close by calmed down and it was nothing but stars, crickets, frogs and critters. I had the best time, and my cats enjoyed watching nature through the windows long after I fell asleep The Lost Woods are very primitive and in town, but I recommend 100 percent. Tent, camper or RV (31ft like me) go visit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Camping at Lost Woods Site #1 was a perfect last minute camping getaway. We were able to park 2-3 cars, have plenty of room for our tent, and cook and enjoy “caveman” tv (sitting around a fire, with the fire pit on site. The trails were an added bonus to enjoy. James was responsive and communicated immediately answering any of our questions. We have recommended Lost Woods to other friends.

I sleep in my truck topper so backing into the site was nice and easy. It's close to the nicer side of San Antonio but secluded at the same time. You can hear traffic during the day but it's dead silent at night. It's also far enough away that you can still see the stars. Plus, there's some friendly farm creatures in a pen near the site that are cute to check out! The trees are dense enough you can't see any other sites from your own too.
