Super cute little fishing cabin that was stocked with everything we needed for a small thanksgiving celebration with our adult kids and pets. We enjoyed fishing at the lake just around the corner. Our only drawback was the burn ban that prohibited s'mores over the fire pit each night, but we can only blame the Texas weather for that. We had a great stay and would come back again. Thank you Joy!

3 nights at Deer Trail Cabin sleeps 6

This place is awesome. The interior is like a luxury cabin with all the amenities and comforts you have at home. Excellent air conditioning, amazing waterfall shower, WiFi, and so many other great features to the cabin make it the best cabin we have ever stayed at. The host Tanya was friendly and had very fast responses to any questions. The location is in an RV park that has charcoal grills, players for the little ones, and great open areas to run with the kids or dogs. It was extremely quiet in regards to neighbors. There are some animal noises from geese and a few dogs but we felt that added to the country feel. A mile or so down the road is one of the best lakes in Texas and since it’s a state park it’s extremely safe and a pristine environment. A few minutes down the road in the opposite direction is a Dollar General for all the items you forgot or want some extra snack or drink. We will absolutely be coming back in the near future.

We ended up being the only 2 campers on the property when we went but still had a very family feel as it is not very big but nicely spaced. We plan on visiting again. I had such a great experience at this campsite! Wonderful secluded spot where you really feel connected with nature. Lots of land you can explore and my dog was able to roam around freely. Host was very nice and responsive and even helped fill up our air mattress when our air pump wasn’t working. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice camping spot near the water!

We really enjoyed tent camping at Camp Joy! We felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves and fully took advantage of it. Paddle boarding in the morning, afternoon and evening with our dog while watching the sunrise and sunset was pure bliss. Unlimited firewood was a huge plus and boy did our steaks taste better than ever cooking over it! Eating under the stars surrounded by the sounds of frogs was magical. Lastly, having a flushable toilet and hot shower was an added bonus. Definitely recommend a stay here!

We loved staying at Camp Joy! The land was beautiful, the bathroom was clean and the shower was really nice. The view of the water from our tent was so beautiful and it was so peaceful. There is some road noise but it wasn't overbearing. An abundance of firewood was already provided at each campsite as well which was great! We did have a puppy come visit us that wandered onto the campsite from across the street. We didn't mind and he was super friendly. We actually really enjoyed the little guy, haha. We also saw the cat Duchess that lives on the property who was sweet as well. Overall it was a trip full of animals and beautiful views. Will definitely want to come again!
