We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there. This is our second Thanksgiving spent at the caboose. It was a great experience both last time and this time. Having firewood at our disposal is great; our dog loved to run up and down the hill; the house is on a busy road, but it never bothered us at all. Can't wait to stay next Thanksgiving. Thanks, Mark!

I am just sad that it was raining the majority of our stay. Would have loved to sit by the fire watching the sun set over the mountains. The hot tub was amazing and I would have loved more time in it. Mark was very nice, helpful with backing in, and informative on things to see in the area. We loved camping on Scott’s goat farm! The camping spot was set up with a campfire spot and picnic table, and there was a working toilet on site for us as well. The goat walk and the cows across the field were the best parts! The goats were really cool, and we got to brush them and learn about goat life. Would definitely camp here again!

Great spot. Scott and Heidi are some of the most generous hosts I have met. They are very warm and welcoming, and being greeted with a drink of my choice was an amazing way to unwind from a long road trip. The trailer was cute, clean and cozy. It feels remote and back country, and yet it was close enough to the Tail of the Dragon that I could be there at first light. I'd definitely do it again!

Weekend Trip to TeePee Village Ocoee Hiwassee River

What a value!!!!!!! 😍🤑 Dirk our host was very accommodating. We felt very safe and secure on site. We really appreciated all the communal amenities like the grill, hot tub, fire pit. Being able to bring pets with no additional al charge, also a big plus. Each teepee rental receives their OWN bathroom (away from the teepee) and each teepee has a mini fridge and air conditioning!! Dirk mentioned they might switch them out for heaters in the cold months. Also not mentioned in the listing, there is a stocked pond on site with small mouth and crappie. Special tip, the chilhowee recreation area can be reached in LESS than 20 min via Benton Springs road, which is a mildly adventurous, low speed gravel switchback mountain road. Any vehicle should be fine in dry conditions with minimal clearance. Excited to come back with friends and family!

For me, the site was close enough to other attractions but yet was also secluded. The site is perfect for people who either want to stay on site and relax or go explore the areas nearby.

Had so much fun camping out here on this cozy farm. Got there a little late but Scott was still accommodating, helping to get us settled and made sure we had everything we needed. The next morning, he let us pet the goats and told us a lot of interesting facts about them. 10/10 would camp here again!

Sharing a spot with Mark was nice. We stayed 5 nights. Upon arrival he met us and introduced himself. He is very pleasant and welcoming. He had a map of the Smokies and his wifi info. Which came in handy because there is zero phone service there ( emergency calls only) which is fine. We were on vacation. You will have wifi as provided. He had a ton of fire wood stocked. The hot tub was hot and ready to go with a ton of jets. We loved the hot tub under the stars. We never saw Mark , except for upon arrival and when we were heading out. Which was really nice.

Cute farm with some dedicated camping and RV spots. Access to hang with the goats, see a tour, hiking trails, a zip line, and backs up to a cow pasture. Quiet, semi-close together camping slots, friendly staff and their pups. Bathroom with shower attached to the house. I’d go again.

We had such an incredible time staying at Scott and Heidi's place!! I can't wait to go back; one of the coolest places. We stayed in the stargazers tent and it was SO cute and so well stocked. They built their own 1970's karaoke bar on premises where they made us drinks and sang some Tom waits songs for us. We had such a fun time hanging out with them and hearing their stories. I'll definitely be back through on my next road trip!!

We had a great time at Poppa Bear Cabin! The cabin was nice, the property was beautiful, and hot tub was such a nice touch after exploring the area. The hosts were very responsive and made us feel like VIP guests. There are cabins nearby, but our spot felt really private and peaceful. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to TeePee Village Ocoee Hiwassee River

Dirk was a fantastic host! The site has a great set-up: - Each Teepee has it’s own bathroom & shower - Teepee’s equip with surge protector outlets, AC unit, fan, and light - Gas and charcoal grill work great - Hot tub seemed to work, but we didn’t use it The spot is so easy to find, and Dirk met us as soon as we got there to show us around. He was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is nice and tucked away, so we felt secluded and safe. We were the only Teepee rented the nights we were there, but they seem far enough apart to not hear ovcupants of the other 2. The TeePee definitely got toasty from about 11 A.M. to sunset, but cooled off nicely as the sun went down. Sleeping temps were perfect (actually too cold so we turned the AC down in the night). Bed was comfortable as well. My girlfriend had never been camping so I choose this spot with it’s amenities, and we both had a great time! Both the Ocoee and Hiwasse were awesome!

3 nights at Nantahala Cabins

We rented this cabin for a family trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The location was great as it was a 30 minute drive to the park entrance which is short enough to be convenient but far enough to be out of the chaos. The cabin was clean and comfortable. It’s a little closer to the road than I’d prefer (you can’t see the road but you can hear it), but when we had the gentle hum of the hot tub or a fan then the road noise disappeared. Also, I was able to do some mountain biking at Tsali and the trailhead is less than 15 minutes away from this cabin, which was fantastic!
