The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in normal weather conditions. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. A new two person wood fired hot tub and cold plunge is now located just off the steps of the treehouse. (Contact us if you’d like to reserve it during your stay). NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery. Nero Coffee's mission is to create connection between people through sharing great coffee and conversation outdoors. I started Nero Coffee in 2019 and purchased 6 acres near DuPont State Forest to share my land and create my own coffee campground to continue growing the mission. Update for 2024! Nero Coffee's Camping Spot has three ways to camp. Site 1: Glamping in my custom built (and way too adorable) mini A frame cabin. This cabin is tucked in the rhododendrons for complete privacy. Enjoy the super comfy bed and unique lifting side door to let the outdoors in :) or Site 2: Camping with room for up to 8 guests. There are multiple sites and so much room to spread out for groups up to 8 people. This year I am only opening tent camping for one group at a time so you can experience the mountains in the most peaceful setting. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home. Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot. ----- Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :) I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore. You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. It's honestly the perfect spot for private, group camping and glamping up to 15 people. Just send me your date request and I will share a link to book if your dates are available. The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :) Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. The host had it perfectly clean and well stocked. It has a bonfire pit and a smaller fire pit for outside gatherings and the hot tub was immaculately clean, heated, and ready for use when we arrived. Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. I loved the small cabin #1 on Carrie and Tom's land. It was the perfect amount of space for two people. Tom was super friendly and made his rounds everyday to make sure we had everything we needed. The river was so close we could walk right down and fish. The grounds were well kept, clean and always kept warm in 20 degree low temps with plenty of heaters and an extra blanket to hang over our door for extra warmth. We will be coming back in the spring and summer and bringing friends for sure to enjoy with us! A+++++

The cozy cabin on wheels was the perfect spot for a Thanksgiving weekend camping trip with my son and dog. The cabinet itself was adorable and you could tell a lot of thought was put into the amenities. Even though it froze while we were there, we were snug as a bug in our little cabin. I loved that my dog could be off leash and play with the host’s dog and cat as well. Although the house was not far, we felt we had all the privacy we needed. Our host was just a message away from answering any questions we may have had and gave lots of local recommendations. We will definitely be back!

I was looking for a place to disconnect and do a little writing and couple of days at Bill's Cabin did the trick. If you don't mind limited electricity and cell service as well as fetching your water from a spring, this rustic cabin is the perfect place to escape and enjoy some downtime. Hartwell was extremely accommodating and with a good sleeping bag, it was plenty warm in late November. Highly recommend!

Had a great time in cabin #2. This is a rustic cabin next to a stream. Waze GPS got us right to camp site. Tom the camp host greeted us shortly after we arrived and was so helpful on tips to keep cabin cozy. He also gave us a map and excellent directions to Dupont Forest. Camp restrooms/showers are a short walk from cabin. Port a potty even closer than restrooms. Camp ground has a good vibe. Front door didn't lock. Smore kit for extra fee was awesome, also some assorted snacks available. There is a small store nearby to get basics. No phone or internet service available at campground. Relax and unplug!

My husband and I enjoyed the peace and sunshine at the A-frame! Directions getting there and to parking were easy, just noting that the road itself (last two minutes of driving) is a bit gnarly, but manageable (driving a RAV). A great place on the river. The bed was broken and not comfortable at all. It does not have a k cup just a regular coffee pot. Bring coffee filters and not k cups. The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in normal weather conditions. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.
