Nestled between evergreen-covered peaks in Etowah and in the shadows of Pisgah National Forest lies Green Haven. With mountain views, rustic and comfortable campsites, and abundant plants and animals to appreciate, Green Haven is a peaceful destination to get away from it all and enjoy spending time immersed in nature and mountain solitude. Wildlife abounds in the area. Deer and white squirrels are a common sight. Tall white pines, poplar, and rhododendron shade the campsites. Enjoy mountain spring water during the winter and spring months (seasonal water supply). Build a crackling fire in the fire pit from available pre-cut wood and existing dead wood around the campsites. Hike the property on the designated trails and discover rock outcroppings, long range mountain views, fern forests, and a variety of wild mushrooms seasonal. Families, individuals, and groups alike enjoy camping here! We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 4 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property. Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More mountain biking at Ride Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek downhill mountain bike park 15 minutes away. The 7 mile paved Ecusta Trail from Horseshoe to Hendersonville is open, several miles away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

This property is situated on 50 acres, surrounded by private property with views of the nearby Pisgah National Forest and a 10 minute drive to DuPont State Forest. Campsites are adjacent to the French Broad River. Excellent fishing and boating. It is heavily populated by deer and other wildlife. For this reason, dogs must be kept on a leash. Please note that due to the campground being in low-lying land, the drive in is subject to being slick and muddy, 4WD is required. Message us with any questions. Due to the property proximity to the river and situated in floodway, the sites are subject to flooding during heavy rain events. Voluntary and/or mandatory evacuation may be necessary during any reservation due to high waters or forecast for high water events. If evacuation is necessary, unused portions of reservation will be refunded. Campers are advised to be self-sufficient with water and shower facilities. We do provide a port a potty and firewood is for sale on site (Venmo, PayPal or cash). IF YOU ARE CAMPING WITH A RV OR TRAILER, PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS A SITE. All sites can accommodate smaller RV camper units. However, larger RV's have limited site availability. Campsites are situated along the river edge. Embankments are steep and near deep water. Although not prohibited, constant supervision for children is a must to avoid serious injury due to natural hazards. This was the perfect spot for us to take our 7 year old grandson for a quick overnight “camping” experience while we were in town for thanksgiving. Perfect spot with great views. Rusty was rad and very easy to communicate with. He even hooked us up with WiFi password.

As it stands right now, its a great sight with beautiful views. Hookups are on the wrong side, so bring extensions. Once the other sites are finished, it will be a fuller campground for sure. As a solo sight, it was exactly what we wanted!

We truly cannot say enough good things about these hosts or this property! They welcomed me and my little family with more kindness than we’ve ever experienced traveling or even near home. I’ve been through a lot emotionally and physically, and we came hoping to heal they made us feel safe, cared for, and supported. From leaving an apple for my son when he qhickly needed some fiber, to helping with groceries and packages, to lending us a propane fire pit and giving my little one a tiny shovel, their kindness never stopped. We honestly felt like God placed us on their property for a reason. We are forever grateful. The property is immaculate with beautiful views. Even with a nearby road, it was incredibly quiet- early mornings and nights were almost ethereal, like being deep in the country. The pavilion was wonderful, and river access just steps away was perfect for skipping rocks and listening to the peaceful water. We also loved the community garden and the kind neighbors. Star gazing during the solar storm was completely amazing because of the extremely low light pollution from any cities. SHOOTING STARS GALORE! Ceaser's head was only minutes away and so was Cup & Saucer coffee shop that had amazing pumpkin spice lattes and an allergy friendly quiche! This stay was full of warmth and peace. These hosts truly feel like family to us, and because of them, we now want to move to the area. We will never forget our time here and highly, highly recommend staying with them. ❤️

Amazing views! Such a peaceful site. Please advise the host’s warnings about the road up and requiring AWD. We had a member of the group slide backwards and had to call a tow. The road is steep, but the views at the site are worth it!

Space for our 8-man tent (we are 2 folk, but we like the space), chairs, the picnic table, our own pop up table, and the "kitchen station." We did not feel crowded.

Chanterelle was an excellent site. Flat land on an otherwise very hilly terrain. A picnic table was provided; a fire pit was already in place. Free firewood was available, as well. Very welcome bonus. The latrine was beautifully built and exceptionally clean. It even had a stick broom to make sure there were no spider friends visiting you while you did your business. ☺️ The area was incredibly private. The only thing we heard were dogs a long way off. If someone would have been camping at Fern, the closest site to Chanterelle, we would have heard each other periodically, I'm sure. We hiked the roads of the property which was plenty of exercise for us due to the steepness and the length. We travel by minivan, so getting to the property was a bit intimidating because we don't have 4WD, but our minivan handled it. We would not have been able to traverse to highest campsite, but their instructions clearly say the one at the top of the mountain is for four-wheel vehicles only. The instructions for everything about this experience were very clear. Every time I had a question, the reply was prompt and courteous. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here.

We brought my 78 year old mother & she loved the easy walk to the creek & walking through the community garden & guessing what was planted. There was great communication with Jann & she made sure we knew about all the fun places nearby. It’s a wonderful location! We will be back soon!!

Big Rock campsite was incredible!! The most stunning views, plenty of space for tents, a lovely rock fire ring, two picnic tables, and the incredible bonus of firewood available to use! Also super nice to have the pit latrine nearby! The drive up is a bit intense, especially with the loose gravel. So I’d say you definitely need all wheel drive! We loved the hiking trails, though some of the signs in the trail were a bit confusing we found our way back around eventually! You’re not close to any water source, so keep that in mind, but otherwise what a stunning spot!

Beautiful campsite! Loved the privacy at chanterelle - fern campsite is around the corner and you could probably hear people, but definitely can't see them. Loved that firewood was provided as well, and it was absolutely gorgeous with all the fall leaves! Our dogs had a wonderful time.

6 nights at Little River Hideaway

We loved staying on Jann and Bill's Little River Hideaway, it was central to so many different experiences! Hiking, biking, town of Brevard is nearby for restuarants and groceries as well as a neat downtown area! While we were there at LR, there was a Jamboree in the Cedar Mtn area that we enjoyed. The campspot was very spacious and easy to get into, we have a 32 foot TT and had plenty of room to spread out. Our pups had fun as well, they enjoy when they have room to run! Thanks to Jann and Bill! We will return to their little slice of heaven when we are in the area!

The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful! We got stuck trying to make it up the mountain, and they went out of their way to help us and quickly set us up with a lower campsite instead. The site was beautiful and peaceful, and their hospitality made the whole experience so much better. Highly recommend!
