We'd noticed as we evolved that we felt generally unfulfilled by the direction society had gone. That our biology and our brain's wiring just didn't naturally mesh when forced to blend with the masses. We had come to learn that we are far from alone, and that made us feel a little less weird. Still, we thought the answer called for more, maybe even drastic action if we could muster the courage. We were thinking a full retreat and redesign, but had very little resources. Can a family use their own minds and hands, with some grit, to handcraft a home and life that felt right? That they didn't even want to vacation from? I don't know, but we decided to try. We still are. Have we done it? You be the judge. In 2019 right before the pandemic, we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. A project in practicality and passion. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living and find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...all while keeping it classy ;-) At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. Rosewood Farm and Agripark is my home. I honestly had about the most amazing childhood one could have on this very land! We hunted, fished, made mud pies and played outside for hours, as long as we were in shouting distance for supper time! I am so fortunate to be the daughter of two amazing parents, who had a dream to build a working farm from nothing more than a logging trail in the woods. They built a 3 story, 10,000 square foot house by themselves- while raising a family! We have 200 acres of farmland that features rolling hills, multiple ponds, creeks, farm animals, show horses and countless wildlife viewing opportunities. Wild turkey and deer roam free all over the farm, coveys of dove fly out from the pastures and trails, and coyotes howl in the night. Listen to the frogs croaking, crickets chirping and whipporwhills calling every evening under a magical blanket of stars. Take a nature hike through the trails that meander through the woods around the park. Our newest venture is to offer primitive camping and some cabin rentals around our 60 acre Agripark! For those wanting to step it up a notch, we have erected a large concrete floor, covered event barn (for parties, family reunions, weddings, cowboy church, etc..,) and also a huge petting zoo barn with an area behind it for pony rides and 4-h/FFA functions. Also, a greenhouse is being erected next, that will teach people about aquaponics and hydroponics! Many things are on the immediate horizon for this special property. While we are under heavy construction at the moment in some areas of the park, many amenities are currently available. Why not unplug from the daily grind and spend time with those that matter most? My goal is to make this land as magical for your family as it has been for mine!

Weekend Trip to Heirloom Hamlet

Spent 2 nights on Curt + Ani’s property. It was such a treat! Absolutely will be returning for more solo, me-time. It’s the perfect blend of lowkey glamping (stayed in the unit with ac) + outdoor living. Everything about the unit was intentional, from the name, design, craftsmanship, to the books on the shelves. You can see the effort and love poured into this place. I went to a show in Folley Beach Saturday night and arrived back to the property around 2:30-3am. Felt completely safe/ease, sat outside in the screened in lanai looking at the stars and listening to instrumentals (very quietly) until almost sunrise. When I return I will have zero plans, park my car, and escape reality the entire time.

3 nights at Edisto Island Vacation Rental RV

This was our first time at Edisto and this rv was in the perfect location! Bonus points for being dog friendly. Felt very private and we really enjoyed seeing all the birds and frogs. Really appreciate that Ron left us a state park pass. Beautiful beach that wasn't crowded, even on Saturday. I've had bad experiences with RV beds, but this one was extremely comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. I was worried about the AC keeping up in July but it did a great job and kept it chilly. Just a note, if you are taller than 6 ft you won't be able to stand up straight in the shower, but the shower head is detachable so you'll still be abe to shower fine. Would definitely stay here again!

We had the best experience here! The tent cabin was cozy and comfortable, while the space still provided a camping experience. Just the right amount of amenities and comforts while still being in nature. The kayak tour was a very easy, laid back self-guided tour where you go with the current and can take in the sites. A friendly cat buddied up to us on our stay too- added bonus. And the farm store has some very tasty honey. We definitely recommend this experience.

Carla was out of town during our stay, but was very helpful from the moment we booked until she handed communication over to John (who also lives on the land) John was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, calm & steady, and made sure we had everything we needed to have a lovely weekend. He was also full of day trip recommendations that we’re excited to try out on our next visits! They seem to be well-traveled, open-minded people that immediately made me feel comfortable and safe. We’re pretty low maintenance, so the air-conditioned, large tent with a comfy bed, composting toilet, and access to a shower felt like such a luxury! Even during the brief thunderstorms, the tent was a delightful place to be. The amount of personal space we had was also a treat. John was always a text or call away, but the campsite is tucked back in the trees just enough to feel a total sense of privacy and peace. If you’re used to actual camping, this place is an absolute luxury retreat. If you’re expecting this to be an airb&b, don’t. 😆 Overall, I definitely see myself returning, and would happily recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Weekend Trip to Laurel Oaks Estate

We absolutely loved our stay at Laurel Oaks! We took out the Jon boat while it rained in the pond, saw the gator Stephen and even a river rotter in the pond doing some laps! Caught a crappie and enjoyed good drinks, laughs and memories outside on the property. We did stop by the game room for an hour or so and played some darts and pool and enjoyed ourself. Had some good food and drinks at near by restaurants. The little AC struggled in the little bear cabin at night however, it still provided some relief from this brutal summer heat while we slept. The tent was clean and had everything we needed. I also loved the little shower and sink set up they had it was very refreshing to clean up in. I would highly recommend! I will say I did at one point fall out of the Jon boat into the pond, it’s surprisingly deep. I would not recommend taking a plunge as I did especially knowing Stephen the gator was a few feet away watching me struggle to get back in the boat while I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. 🤣

We enjoyed our stay at Spacious Skies Campground Peach Haven! We stayed in one of the cabins and it was perfect for what we wanted. We wanted to do all the camping things, but with two littles it was unrealistic to stay in a tent in the middle of the summer heat. So getting a cabin was a great solution! It was more than enough to provide us a little bit of comfort from the heat. The cabin was supplied with a lot more than what we were expecting which was nice if we had come unprepared. It’s not a 5star hotel, so you’ll find a bug or two and it’s very basic. But it was perfect for our trip! The campground itself was great as well! The workers were nice, they had a lot of activities for the 4th of July going on, and it had everything you would want from camping and still close to civilization! Would definitely recommend.
