Great spot for dogs. A little close to the road, but lots of open space behind the house to stretch legs after a long drive.

A perfect stop. I stayed for one night during my travel south. It is a pull thru site coming into the property. I would recommend two water hoses and a back up electric extension as you may or may not need depending on your RV and where your hookups are located. Beautiful country. Good communication.

What a lovely site!
Super easy to pull in and pull back out. Easy to level. Felt incredibly private, despite being next to the owner's home. When we did see the owners, they were so friendly and kind. We were able to take our dogs for a nice mini-hike around their fields, pond and some mowed trails. We liked it so much, we stayed again on our way back home! (had been traveling from NE down to TN and back). We will definitely save this site and stay again if we go back down south in the future.

Staying at camp Douglass is always such a joy. It’s absolutely beautiful, well maintained, and we have been back more than a few times. We even got engaged there! I suggest it to anyone who even mentions camping, and we even got engaged there. Do yourself the favor!

Love the place, sunrise and sunset were picturesque. Even tho its near a road, there were barely any one passing by, the whole night we stayed there only 2 vehicles passed by. Recommend to everyone passing by the area, or even just for a little R&R. Will definitely come back if we have the chance :)

This was our second time at Camp Douglass. My best friend and I loved it so much the first trip, we couldn’t wait to bring the kids! Shane works hard on this property, and it shows. There were upgrades even since May when we were there. We booked a weekend already for next summer. We will come prepared with floats for the river. This trip the kids and dogs were able to walk over to the island and down the river. We had coffee with a beautiful view every morning. My friend and I agree, we’ve found one of our happy places!

We loved every minute of camping at Camp Douglass! The view out over the river is amazing and the water near the shore is shallow and perfect for kids to play in. The campsite itself is flat and clean with a perfect spot for a hammock and there is a shed full of firewood nearby. Although the train didn’t bother us during the day it continued over night and was not overly loud but might not be great for light sleepers. The gravel road to get to the campsite was manageable for our Honda pilot and would be an easy walk if using the parking area. Over all it was great and we will definitely be back.

It was a great stop over spot for me. I can’t comment on the area but it seemed friendly and quiet. The sewage setup was very easy. They had a water hose I used to fill up with. And the electric worked well. The property was open and grassed. The owner met me on arrival and was very friendly

Site was well maintained and clean. Check in insteuctions were clear. Nice spot right along the river, plenty of space and felt secluded. You can tell the property owner has spent time making the site nice. Included firewood was a huge bonus. Train runs through regularly fairly close but didnt bother us. Would return again.

Great time camping! The check in was smooth and the host was accessible to help locate the camp (it IS secluded so best to use the guidebook for reference photos). The train was a bit distracting at times, but we anticipated it from the initial description (no worries it tends to stop at night). Wood is available to build a fire and the porta potty was close. Lots of space and picnic tables to spread out if you’re in a group too. I do wish there was an easier access to the river directly from the campsite, but overall the stay was fun!

This was definitely one of our top favorite Hipcamps, and we only wish we’d had more time here! We really appreciated the helpful site information provided after booking, as well as the clearly marked location and detailed instructions when we arrived—it made everything so easy. The seasoned, dry firewood was such an over-the-top amenity for road-trip camping—what a thoughtful touch!
The campsite itself was beautiful with a lovely view and super easy river access. Everything was spotless—truly one of the cleanest and best-maintained sites we’ve stayed at. We will absolutely be back and are already recommending it to friends.

We stayed one night at the farm and it was really nice. We ran into Mary who was super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again. It was easy to find and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. It was also close to the interstate.

My friends and I had a great time camping here! The dirt road going to the campsite was very easy to drive on and some of our group even had low cars. We were lucky enough to be there during a black moon and the stars were amazing.

Where to go
Memorial Lake State Park
Explore 230 acres around the southern base of Blue Mountain at Memorial Lake State Park, where campers flock to enjoy fishing for northern pike, largemouth bass, yellow perch, trout, and muskellunge. The 85-acre lake attracts boaters with space for more than 50 moorings and two dock launch ramps. Park amenities include pavilions with picnic tables (rent in advance for privacy), charcoal grills, water fountains, benches, and restrooms. There are no campsites in the park, but private RV and tent campsites are available nearby.
Swatara State Park
Backpack along the Appalachian Trail where it cuts through Swatara State Park. The park’s 3,520 acres boast scenic landscapes with views of Swatara Creek. Hike through wetlands and forests for glimpses of local wildlife or visit park highlights like historic Bordner Cabin or Akrigg Falls, which remains flowing throughout all four seasons. Area campsites are situated in the rolling fields and woodlands close to park entrances. Cabin rentals are also available.
Stoever’s Dam State Park
Fish, hike, and canoe at Stoever’s Dam State Park, another popular Lebanon destination for Hipcampers. Brimming with flora and fauna, the park includes observation decks for birdwatchers as well as a 23.5-acre lake that’s stocked with trout. Other park highlights include the 125-year-old nature barn with special exhibits related to the barn and park’s history and a community theater. Look for RV parks and campsites near the park as well as within. Park amenities include pavilions, boat ramps, and restrooms.
When to go
Winter is off-season for Lebanon, but during mild weather, hikers can still be seen hitting the trails or snowmobiling. Peak camping season is summer, but spring and fall draw campers to Lebanon's outdoor attractions, too. Seasonal festivals and farmer’s markets add to Lebanon’s warm season fun. Campers can find some RV parks and campgrounds that offer year-round accommodations, but many remain open only for the warm season.
