2 nights at Wurtsboro Ridge Retreat

This cabin was exactly what my partner and I were looking for for a quiet two-day retreat that felt outdoorsy without all the work of true camping. Space heaters and a woodstove kept it fairly cozy for cold November nights, and there was a ton of wood available for the outdoor firepit. We enjoyed exploring the collection of board games and CDs inside, plus outdoor badminton and frisbee under the lights. Beautiful clear stargazing, and easy driving distance to some great hikes.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It was quiet and relaxing, but there was a cool town nearby to explore if I want to see other people. There were tons of games, so you would never need to feel bored, but also a TV just in case as well. The ability to just pick fresh herbs from outside always makes me feel great. I really felt like a friend was welcoming me into their cool house.

Great trip, lots to do in the area, easy to hike to and from, and even easier to jump back in the car and head to the various state parks in the area. Good location. Photos could use some updating, holes in the bug net in the tent, small ones bit still noticeable. Bring some tape maybe. Very nice firepit as well, and it came with potable water and a two burner stovetop (propane)

Weekend Trip to Catskill's Le Petite Cabine

Le petite cabine is the perfect combination of civilization and simplicity. We had a rainy weekend and so enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof, the birds and the river and that’s all the sound there was! It was incredibly private. The outdoor shower was incredibly refreshing. It is a 5 minute drive from the town of Narrowsburg which has all kinds of restaurants and shopping. There is direct riverfront access. The site is good for all seasons and the host provided wonderful instructions and recommendations which helped us enjoy our trip so much. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore.
