Enjoy the calm, quiet serenity of the South Santiam River. Get back to the basics here and just relax and enjoy nature. We have a small cabin with a bunk bed, and a camping toilet is provided. Bring your tent or camper for extra room.
Our campsite is nestled among the trees next to the river. There's lots to enjoy. Do you like hiking? Silver Falls State Park is only 36 miles away. Boating? You can put in your kayak/canoe at Gills Landing in Lebanon and float down the river back to the campsite. Fishing? Bring your fishing pole and try catch and release in our pond. Swimming? Take a swim in the cool water. Of course, you can just relax by the water's edge and enjoy the tranquility provided by the soothing flow of the river.
This 192 sq. ft. cabin is very basic. There is no shower, but there is a portable toilet with a wash station located outside. We do provide a full 5-gallon water cooler for drinking since there is no running water. For cooking there is a 24" Blackstone 2-burner griddle, and small propane cans are provided. Also, the cabin is furnished with a small supply of pots and pans. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

Jay and Tamara (Ruby’s grandparents) bought this acreage in 1998 and are excited to share their special place with other people who love the outdoors while being with family and friends.This is a rustic, off the grid, cabin experience that you will never forget. Almost 200 acres of forest are available to explore. Winter, our second granddaughter is expecting grandpa to get her cabin finished soon.Cabin with loft can sleep 6. Think of it as camping with walls and extras thrown in. Air beds provided, bring your own sleeping bags. Outhouse provided. Additional tents and people are allowed for an additional 15.00 per tent/2 people. Additional RV’s are allowed for 15.00 per RV. Area for tents and RV’s is large grassy wooded area. Great for large gatherings of friends or family who enjoy camping. Fire pit and bar-b-que provided, pavilion for shelter at fire pit area is in the process of construction. Mountain bike/hiking trails run throughout property as well as National forest trails within a few miles. North Fork River swimming 10 minutes away. Golf course across Westoak Rd. Sit on the porch and enjoy the solitude only minutes from Oakridge. Grocery store, etc... all available in Oakridge. Beautiful, safe and secluded. Elk, deer, and other forest critters live here too. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

We are close to Mallard Creek golf course, Oregon Jamboree, excellent turkey hunting in the area, 30 minute drive to OSU, about 1 hour to University of Oregon. Great central location to explore the Willamette Valley.
Kitchen has small refrigerator, coffee maker, griddle, hot plate, toaster, microwave and a gas grill outside. We do not have an oven or stove. We supply plates, cups, utensils, paper towels, etc. Bedding and towels also provided.

Also each upstairs bedroom has a hanging bed with three 8 foot skylights above for indoor star gazing. Original artworks from local artists are throughout the home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.
You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.
The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Such a great spot, when I read the other reviews saying you just need to pack food and clothes they weren’t kidding. Literally everything else is there (bedding, pillows, French press, blackstone, pots and pans, paper towel, dishes, cutting boards, silverware). I brought a jet boil for hot water to make coffee in the morning but otherwise didn’t need anything else I brought.
My dogs loved being able to roam free with us, my little dogs are impossible to camp with at regular campgrounds because they bark at everyone. They loved this spot!
The water was high and fast in April so I didn’t paddle board but I did put my toes in the water and look for cool rocks. Such an amazing spot.

Ruby's cabin is nestled amongst beautiful cedars and pines with a view of a large green meadow out front. The cabin is cozy with 2 comfy twin beds, a nice table and chairs for games and eating and our absolute favorite was the wood stove. It has plenty of windows and a great loft for extra sleeping space. The outdoor kitchen is conveniently located and very well stocked. We went on several long walks exploring some of the 200 acres the cabin is on. We saw deer during our walks which was extra special. Ruby's cabin is a little slice of heaven!

Weekend Trip to Ruby’s Cabin
We loved Jay's well thought out cabin. Everything was stocked well, clean and cute. Next time we are only bringing food and clothes, and our dogs.
Our dogs played ball in the front yard off leash and had a blast. We played board games and got the peace and quiet we much needed. Many trails on the property to walk. Many forest service roads and places to explore. There is a binder in the cabin with really good local information including swimming holes. We definitely want to return.

Ruby’s Cabin felt like such a treasure to me. My family loved the open spaces and scenery, plus the cabin and the outdoor cooking space. We got to explore the surrounding area on foot through the trails and my girls rode their bikes around the cabin. Jay came to greet us and let us know if we needed anything, to just ask. He was so friendly. I really can’t wait to go back.

Their property was so beautiful and peaceful.
Our family had an amazing time! They had an incredible cabin, camp kitchen had everything you could think of. The bathroom was so cute and wonderful to have. So much space for all our kids and dogs to run around. The showers were so fun and we enjoyed every night sitting around the fire pit that was available.
Jay has really thought of everything, he was so kind and hospitable. The site was so clean and beautiful, such attention to detail. Our whole family kept saying how amazing this place was with every new amenity we found!

The cabin and surrounding property was so wonderful. Close to town yet it felt like we were far far away. And it all to ourseleves!
So many thoughtful amenities such as towels, tea and a tea pot, cooking oil and spices. Books and board games.
It was clean and welcoming. The water felt great and was ready for us to spend all day down at the waters edge. Definitely will be back and would recommend this to anyone wanting a special getaway.

Weekend Trip to Ruby’s Cabin
More amazing than the amazing review. We loved the quiet environment. Perfect cabin. Extreme attention to details. Just bring pillow cases, towels, and some beddings + food. We did not miss anything. Confortable, clean, well appointed. Plenty of portable lights, and despite the lack of connectivity we had loaded our devices with movies and recharged them via portable power banks or car. Cute loo. My only mistake was to not download maps / AllTrails. Gps does not work and only ATT works in town. Owner was welcoming and shared his recommendations for hikes - we went to the lakes 45 mn drive away. Hard to imagine what could make this little paradise better. We will be back.,

Very peaceful and quiet. The cabin was clean and came with everything we needed to make our stay cozy including coffee and tea. Our dog loved being able to be off leash so he could wander around. We had a great time splashing around in the pond and river and found a crawdad. The one thing I would maybe change is that I wish the cabin had blinds or curtains so we could have slept a little longer.
