Bringing a pet? They are very welcome here, however, we now require a $30 pet fee due to additional cleaning and potential damages. Please add this on to your booking.
By June 1, 2025, we'll be adding two spacious yurts, each accommodating 6-8 sleeping bags or cots - perfect for families, kids, or groups looking for a unique outdoor stay.

The campsite overlooks over 600 acres of peaceful grassy knolls which takes the viewer back in time. See below for a bit of local history and things to see while in the area. Our campsites are BYOS sites: We do not provide outhouses or tent potties at our sites, so you must bring your own. We do, however, provide a full restroom with shower/bath at the main house during reasonable hours and have a septic for you to dispose of your waste (during open hours) so you don't have to travel with it. Welcome and we hope you enjoy yourselves and get a glimpse of a little bit of what our tierheim visitors enjoy when they come here.
Local History
About 65 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, near the junction of Highways 81 and 17, was a sign that said: "Welcome to Rush Springs, home of 1500 happy faces and a few old soreheads."
Now the sign says: "Welcome to Rush Springs." Also, there is a giant
watermelon slice indicating that Rush Springs is also the Watermelon Capital.
Rush Springs gets its name from the large springs near the head of Rush Creek from which the town gets its water supply. It is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) settlements in Grady County, Oklahoma.
The history of Rush Springs may be divided into six periods.
The first period leads up to 1858. The springs served as a camping site for Indian tribes from very early days. The Wichita Indians settled on Rush
Creek about four miles southeast of the present town around 1850. It was at this place that the famous "Battle of the Wichita Village" was fought between the Comanches and the United States Calvary on October 1, 1858. After this battle, the Wichitas fled to Fort Arbuckle.
The second period deals with the Chisholm cattle trail (1865-1892). Thousands of heads of cattle were driven northward across the territory over this trail from Texas to Kansas. This trail passed about one and a half miles east of the town, and the springs served as a watering place for the cattle. This trail ceased to be
used after the railroad was built across the territory in 1892. Parts of this trail can still be seen today.
The third period covers the years 1871-1878. Fort Sill had just been established. Supplies had to be shipped to Fort Sill from points in the eastern part of Indian Territory. After the building of the railroad across the eastern part of the territory, Caddo became the main shipping point. Rush Springs was between Caddo and Fort Sill. A stage stand was built and a little town sprang up. When the government freight station was moved from Caddo to Texas, the little town nearly died.
The years 1878-1892 make up the fourth period. The "Huntley Ranch" was established on Rush Creek near the site of the old Wichita Village. The ranch became a stage stand and a freight station for local settlers. A post office, known as "Parr," was established at this place in 1883. In 1892, this post office was moved to Rush Springs.
The fifth period begins in the year 1892, when the Rock Island Railroad came through the springs. It became a government freight station to Fort Sill for nine years, resulting in rapid growth of the town.
The sixth period dates from 1901 when the Rock Island Railroad lines were extended to Fort Sill and Lawton, thus ceasing the freight trade at Rush Springs. The town has since depended on ranching, farming and oil interest for its existence.

We have 161.64 acres which has 4 gravel access points at different parts of the property. The property has several oil sites and it does have cattle, however, it has largely been untouched since the 1970s, meaning we have old growth and new growth for trees and natural habitat for wildlife. This property has been in the family for almost 5 generations and we are working to rebuild after nearly 50 years of no activity.
From my covered front porch I can hear owls, coyotes, hawks and other birds while watching deer munching in the open meadow.
The property has three low water level ponds, meaning no fish - but the opportunity to hike, bike, horseback ride or UTV into and out of the creek(s). Up and down rolling hills. Watch a thunderstorm roll over the horizon while watching lightning from miles away. Enjoy stargazing and naming that constellation.
The ponds do not have fish, but we are going to be stocking them within the next year.
There are plenty of open spaces or covered (by trees) spaces to camp.
We are working to restore the property including rebuilding several structures that were destroyed in the May 3rd, 1999 tornado. So, there is always a project or two in progress around the early 1900s homestead.
We do not have any prepared sites so, you can set up camp near the house for easy access to potable water or out in the pasture. The choice is yours! Once you arrive we will work with you to help you decide.

Rush Springs gets its name from the large springs near the head of Rush Creek from which the town gets its water supply. It is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) settlements in Grady County, Oklahoma.
The history of Rush Springs may be divided into six periods.
The first period leads up to 1858. The springs served as a camping site for Indian tribes from very early days. The Wichita Indians settled on Rush
Creek about four miles southeast of the present town around 1850. It was at this place that the famous "Battle of the Wichita Village" was fought between the Comanches and the United States Calvary on October 1, 1858. After this battle, the Wichitas fled to Fort Arbuckle.
The second period deals with the Chisholm cattle trail (1865-1892). Thousands of heads of cattle were driven northward across the territory over this trail from Texas to Kansas. This trail passed about one and a half miles east of the town, and the springs served as a watering place for the cattle. This trail ceased to be
used after the railroad was built across the territory in 1892. Parts of this trail can still be seen today.
The third period covers the years 1871-1878. Fort Sill had just been established. Supplies had to be shipped to Fort Sill from points in the eastern part of Indian Territory. After the building of the railroad across the eastern part of the territory, Caddo became the main shipping point. Rush Springs was between Caddo and Fort Sill. A stage stand was built and a little town sprang up. When the government freight station was moved from Caddo to Texas, the little town nearly died.
The years 1878-1892 make up the fourth period. The "Huntley Ranch" was established on Rush Creek near the site of the old Wichita Village. The ranch became a stage stand and a freight station for local settlers. A post office, known as "Parr," was established at this place in 1883. In 1892, this post office was moved to Rush Springs.
The fifth period begins in the year 1892, when the Rock Island Railroad came through the springs. It became a government freight station to Fort Sill for nine years, resulting in rapid growth of the town.
The sixth period dates from 1901 when the Rock Island Railroad lines were extended to Fort Sill and Lawton, thus ceasing the freight trade at Rush Springs. The town has since depended on ranching, farming and oil interest for its existence.

We have 161.64 acres which has 4 gravel access points at different parts of the property. The property has several oil sites and it does have cattle, however, it has largely been untouched since the 1970s, meaning we have old growth and new growth for trees and natural habitat for wildlife. This property has been in the family for almost 5 generations and we are working to rebuild after nearly 50 years of no activity.
From my covered front porch I can hear owls, coyotes, hawks and other birds while watching deer munching in the open meadow.
The property has three low water level ponds, meaning no fish - but the opportunity to hike, bike, horseback ride or UTV into and out of the creek(s). Up and down rolling hills. Watch a thunderstorm roll over the horizon while watching lightning from miles away. Enjoy stargazing and naming that constellation.
The ponds do not have fish, but we are going to be stocking them within the next year.
There are plenty of open spaces or covered (by trees) spaces to camp.
We are working to restore the property including rebuilding several structures that were destroyed in the May 3rd, 1999 tornado. So, there is always a project or two in progress around the early 1900s homestead.
We do not have any prepared sites so, you can set up camp near the house for easy access to potable water or out in the pasture. The choice is yours! Once you arrive we will work with you to help you decide.

Amie's land was a good spot for a quick overnight stay. I had a little trouble finding it but it's literally at the corner of the cross streets she mentioned in her instructions. (Just look for the little welcome sign!) Know that you're parking amongst tall grass depending on the season and be mindful of any critters that may call such a beautifully untouched area home.

Delightful! Courtney is an awesome host! The campground is small (currently 8 sites) and no frills. Most of the other campers seem like long-term folks. All sites were neat and tidy. The campground itself is quiet. However... it is close enough to Ft Sill artillery range that firing might rattle the windows.
Wifi is provided but I didn't use it. Tmobile Home Internet had 2-3 bars 5G. Verizon was about 1-2 bar LTE. I was able to work during the day using the Tmobile.
I saw spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is close. Stores in Lawton are about 30 minutes away.
This is my kind of campground. I would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

I really loved the openess of the camping spot at Blank Canvas Hip Camp. The owner Amiee met me on the road adjacent to her property just as a huge thunderstorm was rolling in and directed me to the camp entrance. Set up my trailer on my spot just in time to watch a terrific lightning show against a vast north Texas backdrop. A great memory of my trip thru the length of Texas and one of the reasons I enjoy using the Hipcamp app so much! I would highly recommend Amies Hipcamp if your traveling thru North Texas.

Honest review. Darrel was amazing. Wears a lot of hats and makes sure we are taken care of. He suggested to use the restaurant bathroom from 30 min before open to 30 minutes after close. During the night there are camping toilets in private rooms behind the restaurant. Not my favorite but they have long open hours so it really is for just in the middle of the night use. We decided not to cook but there were grills available outside. Had a few common seating areas for watching sunsets and sunrises. Common campfire that Darrel started and provided wood for, himself. We ate all our meals at the cafe. They are very considerate of food allergies preferences no sugar or lots of sugar if needed. Full bar, the chocolate drop martini was delish. Coffee was awesome. Had almond and oatmilk low sugar. Healthy choices from quinoa, black bean burgers house cut fries, latino favorites like hueve rancheros, teas, yerba mate, beer. Turmeric lattes. Very fresh tasting and yummy. They had real egg or imitation eggs or “cheggs” also had real chicken or crushed chickpeas in the quesadillas. Lots of choices. Servers were prompt and kind. The room was cute in decor, bed was comfortable and I have lower sacrum problems and it didn’t hurt to sleep on it. I was hoping there would be a tent heater but there was not one so we used the blankets that were very comfy on the bed and an extra sleeping bag and was very cozy. The tents did have condensation. An authentic opportunity for a stand out adventure can be discovered in Southestern Oklahoma at The Healthy Hippie Cafe within the charming town of Medicine Park! Well said that it is a full sensory experience set in the parameters of the wildlife refuge where both primitive and canvas tent dwellers can enjoy the beauty of the surrounding hills and view of Mt. Scott upon sunrise. A lovely trail ascends to a panoramic perspective of the historical towns settings. We heard coyotes calling out after sundown, the lovely fall breezes passing through the tent windows, the brilliance of the stars, and even a hooting owl passing by!
We traveled here to celebrate our youngest son's 6th birthday. He enjoyed every minute of it! The hosts, Darrell and Kelli are super personable and make themselves readily available. This little piece of property is set off the main road adjacent to The Healthy Hippie Cafe. However, with the exception to the minimal passing vehicles in the earlier evening and some talented musicians that could be heard in the distance, all was brought solely to the sounds of nature alone soon after. We slept in the Shiloh tent. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Bathrooms are available and an outdoor shower if that suits you.
We started our morning with a short hike on the property and breakfast in the Cafe. Super! The bar provides many fantastic options. GREAT coffee! REAL food! Ambiance is legit. This place is crushworthy. Thank you, Darrell & Kelli!

Weekend Trip to Hippie Hill
I really enjoyed my stay at Hippie Hill! I booked the Zion Tent for my first night of my stay in the Wichita Mountains. I had never been to the area and it was nice to have a stay in town to get the lay of the land before venturing into the park. The bed was super comfortable, and the tent was nice and warm and protected me from the heavy winds. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. It is right in the center of the town and the cafe provided a delicious meal and coffee before I started out on my hike the next day. My only critique is that the guest outhouse was locked overnight, but I was able to use the cafe bathroom during business hours. There is some road noise so it’s not necessarily a secluded sort of experience. But it was nice to enjoy a soft bed after a long day of travel before camping the next 2 nights! Again the owners and the cafe were really nice. I’d definitely recommend this spot for someone who wants to enjoy Medicine Park during their trip to the Wildlife Refuge.

It was a lovely place, though the drive ways were quite narrow. Our trailer is 28 ft and would be workable, but a longer one may be challenging, depending on the driver. However, because of the proximity of cellular, radio transmission towers and a wind farm, my wife was unable to stay as she is highly sensitive to both EM band radiation and high voltage electrical fields. It's unfortunate because the host seems genuinely wonderful and the area was really nice. I did not have a reaction and think I would have slept very well, but my wife did and couldn't stay in the area, so I would recommend it for anyone who is not EM sensitive, but not for anyone who is.

I really liked this place for many reasons. The location was great. Far enough from the town medicine park to get away from live music and people talking but you’re a hop skip and jump from freshly made coffee, healthy tasty breakfasts and and bag of ice to keep your cooler stocked. There a very large covered patio to protect you from heavy rains and also you can hang out inside until the storm passes through. This place is special because the customer service is always there constantly checking in with you to make sure you’re doing ok. I would also add that Darrell is a ninja when it comes to topping off your coffee. Somehow me managed to get in there undetected while I was siting in my chair and reading a book on the patio. Didn’t realize until he was long gone and back behind the bar. Darrell and Kelli are one and the same. You can definitely tell that they care and that makes all the difference in the world when choosing where to go and spend your money!
