Morning Light Mountain Lodge is our 5.7 acre dream come true on the side of Round Mountain in the Ouachita Mountains. We have several beautiful hiking trails and two breathtaking vistas at which to gaze at the picturesque mountains in the distance. “Meandering Trail” takes you to where the property borders the gigantic Ouachita National Forest. Keep going if you please. It’s 1.8 Million acres of wilderness made just for you! A true hunters paradise teeming with deer and other wildlife. The national forest is also accessible via Roger’s Pass and an easement. Bring your ATVs!If you like spectacular sunrises then this is the place for you. Just pray you have enough disk space on your camera! The Legendary Talimena Byway is just a few miles down the road; a 54 mile winding wonderland across the backs of the mighty Winding Stair and Ridge Mountains with dozens of pull-offs and vistas that are a feast for the senses. Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. Weekend Trip to Kiamichi Mounds
I loved my time spent on Drue’s property! Not only was he extremely helpful, but his property is very well cared for!
They also gave me the most delicious bright orange eggs!!! Anytime I noticed I forgot something or had a question, I got a message with a solution right away.
There is enough land that you can really be comfortable here and have a nice secluded peaceful time. Many oaks on the property and even oak firewood!! There was even a kindling pile ready to go when I arrived— there are a lot of small details like that.
It’s a real treat and a great weekend if you like fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, or just hanging out! Definitely recommend it 😇 !!

Jeana had great communication! She answered all my questions leading up to our reservation. She also gave me lots of great information about the campsite and what was available or what we would need to bring ourselves. Although we did not get to stay at her place in the end, which was entirely on our end, we do plan on doing so in the future. We were absolutely happy with Jeana, her communication, information provided, questions answered and her follow up.

We really enjoyed the view from the porch and the night sky! We did bring an ez-up, which gave us a place to hang out during the rain—the porch is obviously quite small. It was a short weekend, but it was the quiet, private place we were looking for!

It’s truly a hideaway! From the moment we checked in with the host on Friday, we didn’t see another soul all weekend — and that’s exactly what made it perfect. The peace and quiet here are unmatched. The forest around camp was alive with sounds of nature, and we even had a family of raccoons wander by one evening (so definitely keep your food locked up!).
The views are absolutely breathtaking — sunrise from this site is something you’ll never forget. I captured a few photos from sunrise and even some night shots, and they turned out incredible. This place would be magical in the fall when the colors start to change.
Just like other reviewers mentioned, having a 4x4 or AWD is smart. Our Crosstrek handled it easily, but if it rains, things could get interesting.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded getaway surrounded by nature, Hickman Hideaway is exactly that. We left feeling recharged and can’t wait to come back! 🌲✨

Loved staying at Buffalo Tree Ranch! The owner was super accommodating, even with my last minute reservation, and communication was great. It’s only about 40 minutes from the Ouchita NF. So if you’re planning on running some trails on the Oklahoma side but don’t want to worry about finding camp, this place is perfect for you. Very private and very little traffic noise after dark. I’m definitely going to stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Kiamichi Mounds
This place is awesome! First the host was great. Answered any questions i had and was very quick to communicate. The location is beautiful and peaceful right on the banks of the river with easy access to the water w a gravel bar and rock outcroppings. You have plenty of privacy and seclusion but it is only 5 min to town so very convenient too. They had fishing poles to use and i caught a fish on my 2nd cast. The area was all mowed around camp and very clean. There was a canoe and kayaks to use, a bbq grill to cook on, a fire pit with a fire already setup and plenty of firewood provided. The camper is older but perfectly clean and comfortable. Plenty of space to set up tents too. Drue and his family obviously put a lot of effort into setting this up and making sure i had everything i could need. I’ll definitely be back.

It's a very isolated and comfy camp site. We loved our stay. Only word of warning is make sure you have 4 wheel drive or at least are comfortable with a hike to the site. The owner was fantastic and we are very likely to return.

The camp host was amazing, he definitely helped us out. 4x4 required! We parked at the front and hiked in. But the camp site was great and right on the water. Highly recommend!

I camped for a week at the river site and it was a fantastic time. It is 100% private except for the occasional barge. The site backs up to forest which feels 20 degrees cooler so it'd be great during summer. The shade is plentiful! I will be back for sure. The path down to the site can be a little iffy so I'd recommend 4x4 if there has been recent heavy rainfall.
The hosts are some of the kindest people I have met. They are warm and genuinely care about your experience.

I loved this camping spot. Best spot I've ever camped hands down. The privacy and quiet is unmatched, but if you need anything the host David is a text away. You'll lose signal a few miles from the spot but at the camp sight there is the perfect amount of signal for keeping up with the weather or an emergency. Great fishing, plenty of firewood and tinder to scavenge. Beautiful views, very low light pollution at night. If you don't have a 4x4 you should pack a hand cart to help get your gear to the camp site. Bugs are a problem in any site as primitive as this, but I didn't get a single tick or bug bite. I treated all my gear, clothes, tents, chairs, even my dogs with permethrin (you can find it at Walmart or on Amazon), and I also paired that with picaridian spray on any exposed skin. Thank you David! for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. We enjoyed every moment at Hickmans Hideaway.

Secluded spot right on the Arkansas River. Tight double track to get back there but once you arrive it’s just you. We saw several barges come by and while the water isn’t clear you can walk for quite a while in no deeper than knee high water out into the river.
Cool spot for sure!

I had an amazing time staying here. Things didn't work out how I planned, due to the weather. The host was extremely helpful and verg accomodating with the changes. But it was a beautiful place with an amazing view. It's still a bit of a work in progress, but I'm excited to see when it's all done. Me and Vincent very much enjoyed our stay. 😊😊

Jeana is an awesome host. The camping spot is a wooded mountainside with plenty of room to explore and roam. The dogs loved it and we had a great time! There's a cabin and established RV spot being built on the land.

Great spot for a weekend getaway. The cabin has everything you'd need from cooking oil to utensils. You can stop at the grocery store, grab some food and head down and not need anything else to have a great time.
