We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There are chickens and Brindle the barn kitty. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Our resort features 10 fully furnished cottages and 39 concrete RV sites with full hook-ups to accommodate RVs up to 40’. The cottage homes sleep up to 6 adults and include a bedroom, bunk beds, loft, full kitchen, laundry, and a full bath. While staying at the resort, enjoy our heated pool, modern clubhouse, and convenient laundry facility. Also, you can’t miss the panoramic view of Sandusky Bay and Cedar Point!

Sandusky was recently voted the #1 Best Coastal Small Town in USA Today. This is the second time in the past 4 years that Sandusky has won this honor! There are many great shops, restaurants, and activities in downtown Sandusky. Then you can head down route 250/Milan Road, and you will find the Sandusky Mall, larger department stores, fast food, restaurants, movie theater, and much more! The name of our farm- EarthColors came about because I have not only fruits and vegetables but also grow a variety of plants and flowers that can be used as natural dyes. Our property was part of another farm that was split off because 18 acres is a conservation area which is non farmable land. We are lucky because it lay neglected for decades and never had gmo crops planted on it. I grow everything organically and our free ranging hens get only non-gmo grains.

My son and I camped on Emily's property for 5 days, set camp up right next to the beautiful pond where you can fish or go swimming. The property is absolutely beautiful with trails you can walk an explore and watch wildlife everywhere. Would totally recommend great place to relax and unwind. The site was nice; an wide open plot of lush grass with tall shrubs encircling it so we weren’t right next to the road, although it was audible still. Right next to the Lefurge Preserve, which was really beautiful the morning we dropped by. Lyanna was very responsive and kind!

I hammock camped in a beautiful site next to the pond. Compost toilets were nearby and very well taken care of (these are small, self-contained toilets that may not be a great option for larger individuals), with a full shower and bathroom at the retreat center up front. Water pressure in the shower was VERY low, but it was as expected for a small earth-centric retreat center (if you need a shower while the retreat center is in place or find yourself in need of water pressure to blast off a long day, the TA truck stop is 15 minutes away and offers private showers for $17. Tent camping area had a few gorgeous trees protecting it and a fire pit for use.
Owners were very welcoming, met me at arrival and provided a tour of the retreat center, map of the property, and information on anything I needed.
Excellent property, would absolutely stay again.

Earthwell is a wonderful place to unplug and immerse yourself in nature without feeling completely cut off from humanity.
The retreat has charming, well-stocked cabins that felt cozy and homey. Firewood and amenities were thoughtfully provided. Outhouses were well-maintained and managed odor surprisingly well.
The property itself is stunning: grass trails wind through meadows, forests, hills, and streams, with a pond perfect for paddling (canoes, kayaks, and a paddleboat are included). Wildlife is abundant- fish, frogs, and turtles in the pond; hawks, bats, and countless birds overhead; and even the distant calls of coyotes and foxes. The diversity of trees- walnut, oak, maple, and pines- made the terrain lush and vibrant. Nights brought a gorgeous starry sky and mornings offered beautiful sunrises.
The host, Emily, was warm and welcoming while providing plenty of space. Chelsea, just ten minutes away, makes for an easy day trip or supply run, but you may never want to leave the property.
Overall, Earthwell is a fantastic spot for several days of peaceful retreat and a place that captures the best of Pure Michigan.

Victoria's property is absolutely beautiful. So quiet & peaceful. The night skies are absolutely stunning with all the stars. I bet you can see the Milky way during a new moon. My husband & I watched 20 Cranes fly over head & land in the marsh behind our campsite. So much wildlife to see & hear. Fell asleep listening to frogs, insects, & coyotes yipping in the distance. Highly recommend an escape from society to her peaceful slice of heaven.

Tent camping at Mystic Hills was peaceful. The land was spacious and open. The fire pit was nice. There was no need to build our own. I enjoyed that convenience. Can't go wrong with having a place to make s'mores!!! The hosts were amazing. They were prompt with any questions when I asked. They were friendly and engaging in conversation. If tent camping in Michigan is your goal, Mystic Hills is definitely the place to stay. It's also convenient for access to Ann Arbor.

It was a beautifully scenic quiet homestead with plenty of nature sounds. I saw and heard all types of animals. Walking through the mini trails/path on the property made me feel like I was in a mini labyrinth, which was pretty cool.
There were milk crates full of firewood that you could purchase for $5, and the crates were the most perfectly curated bundle of firewood I’ve ever purchased. The wood was chopped and packed nicely in the bin along with some sticks and kindling, and even some birch bark (which if you didn’t know, is a natural fire starter), it was a thoughtful touch.
The port-o-John was just a few steps away from my site on the hill top, and it was very clean. There were also solar torches right outside of it, so you could find your way in the dark after the sun goes down.
I got a little isolated storm that passed through halfway through the evening which is no biggie for me, I’ve camped in the rain before, but I wanted to mention it because after it passed, I saw the most beautiful double rainbow I’ve ever seen in my life!!! I was very fortunate to see it!
The owners even let you walk through the garden which I did the next morning with coffee in hand… it was a very nice stroll looking at what they’ve grown and watching their bees working as well.
There were no ticks when I went. If you’re deterred by the tick comments, just know when they are the most prevalent during the season, and know how to deal with ticks in general, and I think you’ll be fine.

Beautiful, serene tent, camping space on a super clean swimming pond. You will need to cart your belongings to your site (they provide the carts) but it’s a five minute walk and I did it in three trips for a full weekend. For me, it was 100% worth it for such a bucolic spot and great hospitality.
