We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have three dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

A New Summer Tradition
This is our second year going to Rusty's and we'll most likely return next year! Heather and Jay are very helpful and their property offers a secluded escape in the woods.

Great rustic camping spot!
We love Hipcamp and are always looking for great places to stay! We stayed the weekend at Jays Retreat and were greeted by them when we got there. They took us back to our site and sold us wood. We stayed at site 1 with the perfect view and entrance to the creek. We explored some other sites and site 3 is bigger and has a creek view also. We will definitely be going back and will try site 3 next time! The animals were awesome and Rusty the steer knew his name!

Beautiful Farm Stay
We had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the trails, old barn, and farm animals. They have a great set up and were great to chat with. Jay helped us fill our camper up with water and get parked at the RV site. Would like to come back and tent camp along the stream next time!

Outstanding place to camp or stay if you're in the area. Jay is an incredible host and gave me a tour of the property upon my arrival. I had a great, rustic campsite right along the river, a much better experience than camping at one of the local state parks. The loft looks incredible too.

A Hidden Gem
Rusty's RV Resort is neatly tucked away in a small woodsy area surrounded by crop fields. This gives both the isolation and privacy that make a great campsite. The expansive flat fields also leave plenty of space for the beautiful cloud formations. Perfect place for cloud gazing! Jay wasn't there to greet us but his wife Heather was and she went out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of! She switched us to a campsite that better fit our needs since we were in tents, not an RV. It was pretty hot out so we cooled off in the creek. Heather mentioned putting the chair in the water, which my mom loved and was very thankful for the recommendation. The water was too shallow for kayaking but it was perfect for watching the crawdads. We bought some firewood ($10) and had a nice campfire. Our site was beautiful and private but still had easy access to the vault toilet. The trails are fun to explore and there's a cute bridge over the creek that we all loved. Rusty and Lexi were adorable too. I'd definitely recommend staying here! I want to go back already for a longer stay. Very good vibes.
