Our peaceful 20 acres has a good mix of woods, wild meadows and maintained cleared areas as well as a small pond, all of which can be explored via our nature trail. Enjoy the sounds of nature and an incredible night sky.
FIREWOOD and seasonal farm goods are available for purchase at a self-serve stand (several payment options available). There is also a wonderful sauna on the property that can be reserved (go to sauna to reserve a time).
Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound.
Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

The modern, yet cozy, Carpenter's Cabin has a small footprint of 934sf but explodes with over 1700sf of interior living space over four floors and another 600sf is available on the three decks. It was an absolutely beautiful little spot. Nestled in the woods, listening to the owls and coyotes at night over dinner. We are an off grid/ back pack camping couple but will definitely be going back to visit the sugar shack. The town is also very friendly and quaint. We had an amazing time just being out in nature and marking another camping trip in the books.

We stayed for 5 days in the sugar shack cabin and it was the coziest experience ever!! Aimee is such a great host and made sure we had every we needed. The wood stove keeps the cabin really warm even in the middle of a snowy night, we accidentally made it too warm one night and went on a night hike in the snow, the most beautiful experience ever. Oh and if you see a little orange cat, that’s Aimee’s cat Tangie, he likes to say hi to the campers!

The Sugar Shack is the perfect secluded primitive stay! Be prepared to take one of the wagons if you packed a lot of stuff. Aimee did a fantastic job utilizing her land for campers, It’s family friendly and there’s plenty to do. The wood burning stove was the perfect addition to our cold autumn evenings, it makes it so cozy while settling in for the night. When we first got there, Aimee had the stove packed for us already and a bundle of wood. I would recommend a trip here 10/10!!

The cabin is a little small, but it comfortably housed my wife and I. Everything was very clean with all of the amenities that we needed for the weekend. A very nice spot for a weekend retreat for two people. There's also a huge stack of western and war DVDs if you want to check those out!

We really loved the porch and deck:) perfect to sit outside, watch the sunrise and listen to the nature. What an amazing 4 day trip. We wished we could have stayed even longer! Only complaint was the grill was a little ify with no drip barrier between the flames and the propane tank from a safety stand point.. perfect get away!

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
This place was truly magical. I did not want to leave. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and spent the weekend snuggled in the woods at the Sugar Shack.
We enjoyed all of the trails connecting through the property, took advantage of the sauna, and took some homemade goodies home from the farm stand. I'd love to go back in the winter and enjoy the wood burning stove inside the shack. It wasn't quite warm enough for us to take advantage of it this trip.

We had a fantastic visit to Williams cabin and land! My dog had plenty of woods to explore and my fiancé and I had the peace and serenity we were looking for. Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
We have never had a bad HipCamp experience, but Aimee’s farm far exceeded our expectations. Fruitdale Farms is an absolute gem of a retreat. It’s obvious that Aimee puts her heart and soul into this land. The Sugar Shack is such a charming place to unwind and reconnect with friends and nature. We can’t wait to return with our kiddos and friends to try out one of the beautiful campsites on the property. We will be back again and again. Thank you, Aimee!

The cabin was new and had most of what we needed. It was really pretty and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I took a bath in the big soak tub and that was probably the highlight of my long weekend. It was amazing. If I were giving stars, I would give 4.5/5. I can't give it a full 5 stars because it wasn't as advertised in a few ways. I believe that some pictures got mixed together for all of the cabins. I was expecting a hot tub and a picnic table on the deck. It was still beautiful and the stars were amazing in such a dark area. William was very kind and I felt comfortable being around him. He brought me wood in a frontloadet and only charged $10 for more than enough for the weekend. to He seems to be building 4 or 5 different things at once. It was a little dusty because of the gravel road, but I was expecting that. I had wished there was more access to walking trails. There may have been some, but they were not immediately obvious. So I guess my recommendation to the host would be to adding more information about the property. There was also no wifi. I personally didn't need it. My kid was with us. They suggested starlink would probably work there, so I suggest either not saying there is wifi or getting wifi that will actually work. Great trip, mostly.

The sugar shack is a gem tucked away in the woods with the most beautiful views. We had to opportunity to look at all the tiny houses Aimee has on her property and they all had there own unique charm. We will be back!

Sugar shack was well placed (next to a small creek with a mini waterfall... Wouldn't be surprised if the water flow is 14 gallons per minute for the waterfall)... There are trails to walk on, which is a positive.

2 nights at Fruitdale Farm
this farm has been on my Hipcamp wishlist for a while now. finally, everything lined up to get to sneak away for a parts of three days to celebrate our nine year anniversary. off-grid and disconnected enough to have some peace, but just enough cell signal to handle life as needs arise.
everything is beautiful + well thought out. the other cabin and camp sites looked adorable. but I’m very grateful we got to experience sugar shack. it was nestled back in the woods with plenty of privacy. the trails are well marked. and everywhere you look are little pockets of love + intention from Aimee’s hands. you can tell how well she loves the land here.
the woods are rich with life. fungi, wildflowers, 17 year cicadas, her chickens, cats, and fish. the sauna was a real treat. the pond was fun to play in, some of the fish even let me pet them. I went to the sauna and alternated from sauna to shower, as it instructed, and felt a deep sense of peace. the walk back to the cabin was perfect.
the cabin itself has everything basic you’ll need for coziness and meals and lighting. it’s so charming. every aspect of life there became so dear, however brief.
if I have one singular thing that could be improved, it’s the shower attached to the host residence. my husband is horribly afraid of spiders. and the biggest wolf (?) spider stared him down in there preventing his time there to be as magical as mine. bugs and spiders are expected. but may be good to keep up on.
