The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower as well. My husband and I stayed for a long weekend getaway, and while we love to travel and airbnb all the time, we both agreed that this space was one of our most favorites! The cozy tent-cabin had every amenity we needed while being perfectly simple and romantic - even providing a handful of tea light candles and large glass holders that we graciously took advantage of. We appreciated all the blankets that had us snuggling up together in the cooler temps, as well as the gas heater on the colder night - and because it had doors like a tent on either side we were still able to enjoy breathe taking fall colors while relaxing inside (temperature allowing). The kitchen amenities were perfect for us - we love to cook and thoroughly appreciated the sink, dishware, and gas stovetop - as well as the smokeless fire pit. Everything was clean and exceeded expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

My family and I loved camping out at Sarah's tent. Great location next to wonderful hiking (Elk Knob) and close enough to downtown Boone/Blowing Rock to go grab food or shop. The tent itself was better than I could've asked for. It was clean, spacious and had most everything you'd need. In fact, we ended up bringing way too much stuff that we didn't need because Sarah already had it provided at the site. Check in was super easy, Sarah met us at the end of the road and directed us up to where the site was. You would definitely need a 4x4 vehicle, but if you had to it wouldn't be too bad of a walk into the woods. The site itself was surrounded by large trees on the side of a hill with pretty great views through the trees. The leaves were starting to fall so we got to see the hills across the way. While at the site, it is super quiet and private. You feel very secluded with no nearby campsites. We especially loved this because when trying to book campsites at other spots, there is usually sites within view. You don't need to worry about that here, which was our favorite part about it. I think this will be a spot we come yearly around fall to enjoy the leaves, hiking and cooler weather. We loved it! Thanks Sarah!!!

I loved staying here! The tent was very nice and had everything I needed! It was a little cold at night while I was there, but the pellet heater helped keep the space warm! Such lovely hosts and the views from their property will set your soul at rest. Everything from the tall trees that embrace the cabin to the beautiful songs of nature. Unfortunately the forecast had my husband and I in house slippers and napping during the entirety of our visit but it was exactly what we needed. The first morning we lost power but Greg was so kind to stop by and offer to pick us up some breakfast as he made his errands and Marsha kept us updated on things until the power was back on. The cabin was so clean with a relief to us as we don’t wear shoes inside and all of the linens, towels, throws etc were all perfectly clean as well. All the amenities were well provided and well thought out. This is the coziest place I’ve stayed through HipCamp and we can’t wait to come back to explore more of the area before snowfall.

Single lady just camping with her dog and we had a fabulous time. Very private and I felt safe, surrounded by trees. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time I was there and we had to hunker down for 24 hours, but we stayed completely dry and the campsite offered every amenity that we needed. Super comfortable. My only complaint is that the internet can be slow at times and I wasn’t always able to watch videos on my cell but I suppose the heavy rain could have also been effecting my reception. However, unless it’s pouring rain I imagine most people wouldn’t even be on their phone watching movies. There’s several nature related activities to do in the area and it is just a short drive to Boone and Blowing Rock. Pluto and I will definitely be back for more glamping fun.

Had a wonderful stay over 4th of July weekend at Rugby Creek, just a stone's throw from Grayson Highlands. Lodged in the "Neighbor" trailer at the top of the hill, cozy and private with a lovely overlook of the property. Owners are kind and accommodating; I highly recommend scheduling a tour of the property to meet all the animals and learn their stories, including the famous Fabio and Sadie, the sweetest mini donkey ever. All of the residents are clearly very happy and well cared for, and I basically had a private petting zoo all weekend. Would love to go back!

Such a peaceful retreat, with everything you could possibly need! Jodee has this place set up with all necessities, and the pellet grill was such a dream to use, that now my hubby wants one. Lots of wildlife- deer grazing, random white floof of a dog, the sweetest kitty under the tent, loads of lightning bugs- our reactive dog was able to be off leash, and loved his creek play, but we had to keep him tethered most times, due to these unexpected, random visitors. Several great nearby hikes that were in the info book, and dog friendly. Even in late June heat, we were comfortable with the fans provided, but did enjoy our extras from home, for porch sitting. Amazingly, no issues with mosquitoes, and I'm one that attracts them. Plenty of hot water in the shower, and so nice to bathe outdoors- there could be a bit more of a shield from the road, but I didn't feel exposed. Our weekend had some heavy storms, and there were no leaks or concerns with the tent, and it was amazing to listen to the rain on the "roof". Definitely somewhere I would recommend, and come back to!

Sarah’s side of the mountain, and the magical space that she provided for guests was so lovely. The wall tent was very spacious and had both front and back decks. It feels very private and serene in the woods. She has thought of every detail and her design of the space is delightful. She has everything set up for a comfortable cozy mountain getaway. I would definitely, and hope to, stay here again! Nature Bonus: My friend and I got to see the WNC summer specialty—blue ghost fireflies— late at night after our campfire went out.
