Tellurian Family Campground offers conveniently located spacious travel trailer, camper, RV and tent camp sites with incredible views and access to a pristine mountain river. The property consists of 93 acres and 2780 feet (1⁄2 mile) of river frontage on the First Broad River. The First Broad River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Smallmouth and freshwater sunfishing is incredible on this stretch of the river and there are also opportunities for mountain river catfish.
Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site.
Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We are located in a rural setting in the foothills on the edge of the South Mountains Range, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views.
Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. We know it’s a bit different; that’s what we like about it. We think our place stands out and, after visiting Tellurian, we think you’ll agree it does too.

The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

now called Joelton. I love the old name and I love that my family came through North Carolina to Tennessee, so I
decided to bring the name back east with me.
Creating Paradise Ridge as a permaculture paradise is my life's work. It is a slow and painful process in a world set on instant gratification but very rewarding to see it step by step each year.

Paradise Ridge is on a dead end road, with a gated community at the top of the mountain. It is a wonderful place in Fairview, NC. A small 5-acre lot completely off grid, we have no animals due to the storm that rocked the area.
Most of the property has been untouched for the past 30 years. The small area kept under hand is managed with a permaculture approach to make as little disturbance as possible and to keep it protected for the wildlife around the area. The property has been chemical free for the past 20 years under Paradise Ridge; thus, it has plenty of wild edibles around for your pleasure. Mushrooms, weeds and added edibles for your experience.
At the moment, we accept tents, hammocks, and the like for anyone to enjoy this little piece of paradise on Flat Top Mountain.
We are located between Asheville and Chimney Rock. There is SO much the area has to offer; it is too much to list here. You can find great food, good beer, and lively music in either direction from Paradise Ridge. Or you can enjoy a simple quiet shared camp fire area.
We are in the process of repairing fences, reseeding the pastures, and restructuring the hen house.

We really enjoyed Tellurian! We stayed two nights and found the campground to be clean, easy to navigate, and packed full of opportunities to explore the river and take in the mountain views. We look forward to coming back when it isn't so cold outside so we can fully enjoy the river. The bath house was great and the kids enjoyed hanging out in the lounge area when it was too cold to play outside. Can't wait to come back!

Hans' Summit Cabin was amazing! The cabin is fully equipped with propane heat, non-potable running water (from rain), and all the basic amenities. As regular campers/backpackers, we found it very comfortable. We loved exploring the trail leading into Pisgah National Forest and using Hans' bow and arrow for some target practice.
It was a short but steep hike up to the cabin, but it added to the 'off-grid' experience in my opinion. Hans was kind enough to transport our belongings in his ATV.
It was fun chatting with Hans about the area and his property. Hope to visit again!

Beautiful location near South Mountains State Park. The location was easy to find and easy to park the camper. The sites are long and spacious. Everything is well kept. The bathhouse was a nice amenity and very clean. There were two separate bathrooms each with a shower. The campground was very quiet. The perfect place to visit to see Fall colors!

Tellurian is a small quiet campground. We enjoyed a peaceful weekend with an incredible view of the surrounding mountains. The owners were friendly and available if needed. There is a bathhouse with a men's and women's bathrooms with showers. The campground is a short walk to the river...which in November is nice to see but I would think in the summer it is great for swimming. There was plenty of room for our dog to run...and did I mention the views?

We had such a great time visiting the summit cabin, and it was equipped with everything you would typically need on a camping trip! Hans was very nice and brought all of our things to the cabin, and we hiked the steep but beautiful trail up to the summit. We brought our two dogs that absolutely loved running around the property, and we even explored the trails in the woods behind the cabin and they were endless. We went on a chilly weekend, and were so surprised at how warm the gas units inside got to warm up the cabin! Such a beautiful cabin, and we cannot wait to come back again.

This was our second stay at this beautiful property, and we already know we’ll be back again! We’ve stayed at sites one and two this time around with family, and the views from each are absolutely breathtaking. The campsites are peaceful, private, and perfect for relaxing by the fire after a day of exploring.
Our kids especially loved spending time at the river, with the cooler weather this time, it made for such a fun experience. We even brought magnets and discovered some rocks that were magnetized, which turned into an unexpected little science adventure!
Jud and Amanda are incredible hosts. Their communication is top-notch, from clear directions and check-in information to thoughtful messages while you’re there, making sure everything is perfect. They truly go above and beyond to make your stay smooth and enjoyable.
We can’t say enough great things about this place. It’s the perfect mix of peace, adventure, and stunning scenery, our family favorite that we’ll continue returning to for years to come.

it was a great site. it was very nice to have all the dogs to play with. I was a little worried about the terrain seeing how it was was below. I-40 0 but it is near South Mountain so you are enrolling terrain with great views driving to the campsite. The river site #1 was quiet and easy to back into. Jenny came down and helped us settle in and had an adapter for our old fashioned 30amp plug. 10/10 recommend and will return. Morganton is a short 20 minute drive and offers plenty of diversions and dining if that's desired.

Wonderful view of South Mountain State Park as well as the night sky. If you are looking to spend time at South Mountain, Morganton or any of the surrounding towns this is a great location. Small campground with a handful of sites which is perfect for those of us who seek out solitude. No issues with the Full hookups. Worked perfectly.
