Tucked quietly along the edge of Hanging Rock State Park near the Tory’s Den access, this primitive campsite at 1140 Tomahawk Rd, Westfield, NC puts you right at the doorstep of Moore’s Knob and Moore’s Wall. From the Tory’s Den parking lot, you’ll follow Tory’s Den Road all the way up a rugged dirt road to reach the property. The last stretch is rough and narrow in spots, so you’ll want to be comfortable on mountain dirt roads and ideally have 4WD with some clearance.
When you arrive, a roundabout dirt driveway opens into a private clearing with a 20' x 20' flat pad—perfect for tent camping or a small overland setup. The land was recently cleared, so it still has a raw, backcountry feel: expect stumps, roots, and uneven ground around the main flat pad, not a manicured campground. It’s quiet, heavily wooded, and feels like your own little slice of the Sauratown Mountains.
The real magic is the access: it’s roughly a 200-yard walk through the woods to reach Moore’s Knob Trail, and you’re less than a mile from the base of Moore’s Wall, with all of Hanging Rock’s views, rock outcrops, and classic hiking right at hand. Wake up, brew coffee, and you can be on the trail to Moore’s Knob in minutes without ever getting back in your vehicle.
On the property there is an old, abandoned cabin from a previous era. It is not safe or usable—for your safety and liability reasons, do not enter or touch the cabin or attempt to explore inside. Treat it like a posted structure and enjoy it only as part of the scenery.

A wonderful little campground with a clean shower house. Easy check in and quiet evening to get some rest after a long day. Walked the nature trail to the river and found it easy and scenic. I would stay here again.

The bathroom is super clean both for men and women. The site is quiet and the neighborhood is quite friendly. Two things to make the stay unforgettable. 1) the tent site should have water outlet for each station 2) the RV campers should clean their waste deposit on a regular basis. There was one of them that the place smells like piss. Sad to say that it was the only negative thing that almost ruined our stay. But still I would recommend the place for a nights stay. About 7 mins away to Pilot Mountain and 30 mins away from Hanging Rock State Park.

We loved camping at Garden of Eden! Our little girl loved the play/swing set area. It is secluded enough we felt safe. The sites are spacious and water pressure was excellent. Suzanne was an excellent host and very responsive to any needs or questions we had. We really enjoyed our trip! And will definitely be back and will recommend Garden of Eden to anyone!

Hot shower , very nice people, it's set up more for RV and trailer campers, but the one half that is grass is a good spot to set up a tent. Most of the spots had electric which is more than a typical tent spot, so that was nice. Super quiet

Great view of the lake, hearing the ducks early morning and throughout the day, my wife started feeding them before we even finished getting set up! We spent our 40th anniversary here last week and we were welcomed with balloons and a congratulations card left on our car windshield, that alone touched our hearts. We’ll definitely be going back here again!

Robert was very friendly and has a beautiful piece of land. We have a popup camper and needed a place to stay for the night and found this gem. It’s perfectly between Greensboro and Charlotte and a great spot to relax and enjoy nature. There is a pond, bountiful wildlife, and even a few outdoor pianos! If you’re on you’re way through or looking for a relaxing getaway then I highly recommend staying here vs the busier campsites nearby.

Was a solid experience overall. I had left my tent stakes at home and they hooked me up with a complete set. Camp was mostly quiet, though it also wasn’t full. A burn ban was in effect and every one was respecting that, which is also a plus.
Bathrooms were a mixed bag. Hot water reliable, but too hot. Design was nice and clearly new Toilet was good, but there was only one of them. Soap dispenser was out of soap. And they could do for a more powerful ventilation fan. Didn’t use the showers. Thh he e toilet and ventilation situation was fine as I was in late and out early, but I could see it getting gnarly on a busier weekend.
Will stay there againthough. The steam was nice and the crickets were peaceful. They had good burn barrels and picnic tables, plus great places for the tent. Lack of cellular reception was a bonus for me, as well.

We purchased our first new travel trailer and were dying to take it somewhere kind of close to home, but far enough away to test the actual ride with the camper. We went for a quick winter camping trip Pinnacle. Enuf about that tho - The campground was very nice, quiet, clean, and appears they just keep on working on making this top notch! We met Rekenna on Saturday of our stay and she was so amazing to meet and chat with. The Power poles, water and sewer hookups were wonderful, we had no problems even with 17-degree mornings! I would suggest heated water hose for any cold camping! The Bathhouses were super clean and warm! I'd totally recommend this for anyone wanting a quick trip. We don't have small children, but they do have a playground for the littles to play and the creek by spot 18, was beautiful! Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful space Rekenna!!! Oh and Pilot Mt. and Mt. Airy are close for good shopping and great food!
