The bathroom is super clean both for men and women. The site is quiet and the neighborhood is quite friendly. Two things to make the stay unforgettable. 1) the tent site should have water outlet for each station 2) the RV campers should clean their waste deposit on a regular basis. There was one of them that the place smells like piss. Sad to say that it was the only negative thing that almost ruined our stay. But still I would recommend the place for a nights stay. About 7 mins away to Pilot Mountain and 30 mins away from Hanging Rock State Park.

Ararat River Campground
A wonderful little campground with a clean shower house. Easy check in and quiet evening to get some rest after a long day. Walked the nature trail to the river and found it easy and scenic. I would stay here again.

Hot shower , very nice people, it's set up more for RV and trailer campers, but the one half that is grass is a good spot to set up a tent. Most of the spots had electric which is more than a typical tent spot, so that was nice. Super quiet

Is very clean and safe but traffic is heavy to be slightly out in the country will def be back ..if you don’t want to hear road traffic get further off the road

Unlevel tent sites (mounds, dips, and slopes); tall fire barrels (bad for sitting round the fire to toast marshmallows or other camp cooking but we were told we were allowed to build a small fire on the ground); noisy roosters, dogs, and RV AC units; smelly men's room; no convenient trash cans (just dumpsters at the entrance and small bathroom bins); no recycling; no slop sink area to wash dishes; inaccessible water spigots at tent sites (these are in a buried bucket in the ground and you need to hook a hose up to it to get water); trash in stream (we removed a walmart bag that looked like it had been there for some time); no camp store; no host presence (notified host via hipcamp of an issue in the bathroom on first night [hand dryer falling off wall] and although acknowledged in app it was not resolved before we left 2 days later); hand soap in men's room empty our entire stay; curtains on toilet stalls weren't bad in concept but they were soiled; no cell service (TMobile) so unable to check in on arrival (had to drive up the hill and call the number for making reservations on the sign); no posted instructions for check-in at the campground; smoking posted as not allowed in bathroom but not enforced (the women's room stunk our second morning and butts on ground outside); no shelf in shower for soap/razor; available tent sites were inconsistent (some with picnic tables, some without; some with fire barrels, some without; electric sockets available or used by wifi extenders)

Reienna ids amazing and Araret River Campground is a wonderful, beautiful and friendly little community ~ we plan to be here for a few months. My cats are happier than ever ~ they love being outside and cuddle with us every night!

Campground was great .. clean and quiet.. was tons of people there... some lived there ...showers and a potties that flushed ... would stay again

Was a solid experience overall. I had left my tent stakes at home and they hooked me up with a complete set. Camp was mostly quiet, though it also wasn’t full. A burn ban was in effect and every one was respecting that, which is also a plus.
Bathrooms were a mixed bag. Hot water reliable, but too hot. Design was nice and clearly new Toilet was good, but there was only one of them. Soap dispenser was out of soap. And they could do for a more powerful ventilation fan. Didn’t use the showers. Thh he e toilet and ventilation situation was fine as I was in late and out early, but I could see it getting gnarly on a busier weekend.
Will stay there againthough. The steam was nice and the crickets were peaceful. They had good burn barrels and picnic tables, plus great places for the tent. Lack of cellular reception was a bonus for me, as well.

It was good for an overnight, passing through. Clean bath house and showers. The nature trail was a plus . The aesthetics of the camping spots were the drawback for us- no trees and rough gravel, with tight spacing.

The good: Amenities are fantastic. Heater in the bathroom. Hot showers with great flow. Good WiFi. Nice sitting sites - if a little tightly spaced.
The Not so good: no TP in the fine bathroom while we were there. Lots of roosters cocking off starting at 3am. They were confused, clearly, but they overpowered even the generators of the rvs. There was also a raging fight between a couple in one of the RVs around 4am. Everyone in the park was awake for that. But they were relatively efficient and by 4:15 the screaming had stopped. None of this is really the fault of the campsite (except maybe the TP situation). But you should know what my experience was the one time I stayed there.

The area smelt like rotten trash. The toilet has no locking door, just a curtain in front of it. There was no TP. At 2am there was a truck that pulled in with extremely loud music then disappeared.

Ararat River Campground
We purchased our first new travel trailer and were dying to take it somewhere kind of close to home, but far enough away to test the actual ride with the camper. We went for a quick winter camping trip Pinnacle. Enuf about that tho - The campground was very nice, quiet, clean, and appears they just keep on working on making this top notch! We met Rekenna on Saturday of our stay and she was so amazing to meet and chat with. The Power poles, water and sewer hookups were wonderful, we had no problems even with 17-degree mornings! I would suggest heated water hose for any cold camping! The Bathhouses were super clean and warm! I'd totally recommend this for anyone wanting a quick trip. We don't have small children, but they do have a playground for the littles to play and the creek by spot 18, was beautiful! Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful space Rekenna!!! Oh and Pilot Mt. and Mt. Airy are close for good shopping and great food!

Revennna went above and beyond to make my stay possible. I had forgot my butane stove at temp got down to 40degrees. I was tent camping so I bought an electric stove. She loaned me a 100 foot extension cord so I could be warm in my tent.
For that alone I’d go back. Good place perfect location to get far away in the woods

Overall it was good and a great price! Hosts were helpful, greeted us as we entered, and showed us the bathroom and where we needed to camp for the night.
The only surprise was that the fire pits seemed to no longer be used for fires and are instead filled with trash and used as trash cans. So we came in expecting to be able to have a fire but quickly realized that wouldn't be happening (it had just rained so maybe that was a reason, but we'd brought our own wood and couldn't use it). Again great price though and otherwise worked out great. Thanks!
