Go horseback riding at Sandy Bottom Trail rides, tube the French Broad River, go fly fishing in the clear mountain streams that run the length of Madison County or take an easy day relaxing in the cool waters of the Laurel River. The Road to the site is graveled and suitable for 2wd though it is steep. First road upon entrance is a shared road so please respect the privacy of neighboring properties (all to the left of the first road). As gate is squeaky upon leaving and entering, it is requested that all guests arrive before night fall an do not leave until morning.

RV Site 6 is our smallest site and is designed to accommodate vans or small tow behind trailers. This is a back in site and has a clear view of the rest of the campgrounds. Downhill are the firepits, picnic tables and deck, plus road to the bathhouse. Tent sites are to the right (not shown here) and in the forested area behind RV sites 1,3,5.

This campground has all the bases covered. There was a lot of charming cow mooing from a farm down the hill. I was shocked by the bathrooms. They are almost like little cabins. Made of salvaged materials with beautiful porcelain sinks and even one with a claw foot tub that looks out on a balcony with a view of rolling hills, wild flowers and pure natural beauty. There are so many thoughtful details that create a hospitable atmosphere. The tent sites are perfectly flat in little hollowed out half circles surround by ferns and beautiful trees. The RV sites have individual water pumps and electricity! There’s a picnic area with a set of big picnic tables and grills adjacent to a set of fire pits with Adirondack chairs. There is yet another communal space that is covered by a giant deck perfect for a yoga retreat. This is the perfect spot to host a large group or bring a crew of kids. Above the camp, they run the cutest gem mine I’ve ever seen. It has a lily pad pond that you can look out into while panning for gems. Tanya is the most gracious host. She was so welcoming and attentive. Thank you Tanya!

Beautiful land right next to a very cool gem mine. Bathrooms are excellent and it’s very quiet. Tent and RV spots available. Tanya was lovely as was her space. Easy to get around and to Franklin and other parts of Western NC to explore.

Great hosts - responsive and helpful. We ended up moving up the hill to Lijah’s Ridge - if you have the option pick that site. The views were outstanding and just enough shade to stay cool in. The horses visited us a few times - a fun experience for the kids. Port a potty was clean enough and hand washing station was a nice bonus. Beautiful sunrises and stargazing at night. Ended the trip by breaking down camp and taking a cold but incredibly refreshing shower. We will def be back in the future.

Super peaceful area while still being close to town, would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay down here. Smells clean in the area, and the crick and horses beside the campsite are a nice addition.

We loved the outdoor shower and how beautiful the area was. The hosts left books to read and games . Our daughter loved the hammock. Hopefully next time we will get to see the horses ❤️ will definitely be back. Hopefully earlier enough to be able to meet the hosts .

Janice was so nice and very accommodating! We stayed at the same site with the shelter up in the hill. Primitive campsite and very private which we loved. Had fires both in the evening and in the morning. The animal life was wonderful! My 6 and 8 year old little boys loved seeing the animals roam around. Great stay!

What a great find! Beautiful setting with wildflowers growing in the fields! The bathrooms are amazing. Very clean & great water pressure. RV spots are nice and level. Easy access to the place. Close to town.

🌿 5 Stars for the Owl’s Nest in Clarkesville, GA! 🌿 We just returned from an unforgettable 4-day stay at the Owl’s Nest, and we can’t say enough good things about this little slice of paradise. Tucked away in the beautiful Blue Mountains of North Georgia, the property is peaceful, private, and absolutely gorgeous — the perfect spot to unplug and unwind. 🌲 Our host William was fantastic — incredibly accommodating, hospitable, and friendly. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel right at home and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The site is well-marked and easy to find: just follow the Hipcamp signs — the parking lot is on the right , and the clubhouse is on the left. When you see those landmarks, YEP — you made it! 🙌 We spent our days hiking to waterfalls (Hemlock Falls, Anna Ruby Falls, Unicoi and Moccasin Creek State Parks), watching ducks and hawks, and soaking in the peace of the woods. 🦆🍃 We already can’t wait to come back in the fall to see the colors of the leaves and camp at the Owl’s Nest again. This place was very cute, off in the country but like 3 minutes from gas station and 10 from a walmart. The creek was nice and very cute decorated by the owners! Be sure to be careful if you have a small vehicle was a little hard to get our truck up the hill each time in the morning dew without our 4wd on. The horses were nice to watch in the distance. The shower and toilet was nice to use and covered by doors. The shower didnt drain, but I swept out the old water standing before taking a shower. Very convenient place to get to the pigeon forge area but still be off the beaten path.

I loved this hip camp I even extended my night an extra day! I enjoyed the water views and that it was very peaceful. It very close to Helen, Unicoi and other places to hike or explore so awesome location. I am not really sure how it’s set up though….if the lake site numbers matter or if it’s just first come first serve but I enjoyed it. The owners and other people that live on property were nice! And they have a full kitchen thats shared with the people who live there and bathrooms shared with them as well. For a campsite it’s nice amenities. Also includes free fire wood which is awesome!

The lake is beautiful. The host is welcoming and supportive, and also around just enough to make you feel welcome. The "Owls Nest" has some interesting history which we still have to explore. My wife and I stayed overnight with our pets and two adult children. Use of the bathrooms and shelter were re-assuring. With pop up summer storms, we had a place to get to for cover. We used the kitchen for after meal clean up. Thanks!

First off, this review is not for the tent 4 site, we had a 24’ rig, but decided to dry camp. Now that that is out of the way, this place was just amazing! Exactly what we needed. Quiet , peaceful, with amazing views! Brian is a very accommodating host, hardworking, interesting, respectful. We would absolutely come back here again and again. Thank you!

This no ordinary campground. Pause is an adventure that will feel like you are exploring your own private mountain nature reserve. Aramesh is 120 acres of Blue Ridge heaven with something for every wilderness adventure seeker: unmatched mountain views, lush old growth forests, babbling brooks, and miles of trails for all skill levels. The property starts at 3700 ft altitude, with summit at 4500 ft on the Glades mountain ridge. We have only a few campsites on the vast property, so the wind in the trees and birds will be all you hear. Come and stay with us and be renewed! IMPORTANT: 4WD or AWD is required to access our property. There is a sometimes steep and windy gravel road into Pause. Please make sure your vehicle has 4WD or AWD before you book. Campsites: They are 3/4-1/4 mile from the entrance. Some are accessible by 4WD. There may be some vigorous hiking involved, but the views are worth it. The pads are various sizes. Let us know what the needs of your party are and we can help you choose from the available spots. We also have several more remote “off-menu” sites for those seeking a backpacking adventure - ask for more information if your are interested. Hiking: There are several miles of trails on the property. They range from an easy slope to very strenuous. The entire property is fenced so you won't easily get lost. Your climbing efforts will be amply rewarded by stunning views, especially at sunset. Trail maps are available upon request. On-Site Amenities: we provide a clean porta-potty and running water that is spring fed. We ask that you follow "Leave-No-Trace" procedures during your stay. Off-Site Amenities: If you choose to explore the area : we are a 10 minute drive from I-40 Exit 24. Asheville is 45 minutes away; Waynesville is 25 minutes away. Presnell's Grocery (highly recommended, family-owned store that sells locally farmed products) is 10 minutes away from the property entrance. The Ingles supermarket in Canton is a 15 minute drive. You will find every kind of fast food in that area. There are also several excellent local dining options in Canton, Clyde, and Waynesville which we are happy to recommend to you by request.
