Our little homestead is run by a mother daughter team. We raise sheep, chickens and grow a large garden and several fruit and nut orchards. We are also in process of building structures using mostly natural materials. You are welcome to hike into our woods to find a private spot near the waterfall or higher up the mountain. Also feel free to stroll through our pastures spotted with peaches and hazelnuts and watch the sheep graze. Note: RVs and large trailers cannot be driven onto our property due to the curvature and narrowness of our driveway.

Brian has created something so incredibly special here! We stayed at Diamondstone and he has added many special touches- the electric candles, little propane stove, wooden benches and handrails....
He is also INCREDIBLY responsive! We could not figure out how to work the padlock to get into the cabin (note: the numbers must be lined up in the GREEN section of the lock) but he answered right away even though it was 10pm (second note: there is no cell service there so you have to go a ways to find it).
The cabin is not insulated and the stove does not put out much heat, so if you're coming in winter make sure you have good cold weather gear. My son set up his tent outside and as we both brought winter gear we had an wonderful, peaceful time reconnecting with nature and each other.
Thank you Brian for being a wonderful host and creating such a special place.

I cannot emphasize enough how beautiful this spot is. The stream, the trees, the quiet. I have camped in almost every state, and this is easily one of my favorite sites. The road in a bit bumpy, but doable. I easily made the trek in a civic. The road is also great for taking a scenic walk. The covered porch was perfect for a rainy afternoon, and the heater was a welcome addition on cool autumn evenings. Close to the stunning Joyce Kilmer Wilderness & Nantahala National Forest. I hope to come back again!

We loved this site! The creek is so peaceful and the cabin was perfect. The site is easy to find using Brian’s directions. I’d recommend getting there before the sun goes down because it is very dark (but great for stargazing!).

I couldn’t say enough nice things about this spot. It’s GORGEOUS! You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of a waterfall, it’s so peaceful. The barn itself is so cute. We were there for a girls camping/slumber party weekend, and it was just the perfect backdrop in every way. Briana and her mom were so kind, and really responsive when we needed something. It really was a 10/10 experience.

Weekend Trip to Mountain Creek Rest
Perfect spot to disconnect and be in a serene place all weekend! PLEASE BEWARE there is a giant active yellow jacket nest right on the bank of the creek at the site. If you have kids or are allergic, just be mindful. Brian was very easy to communicate with. The directions he sends you beforehand are spot on and we had no problem getting there. We did download an “offline map” (iPhone) before we lost service which was great to use on the way out of there. Wasn’t necessary but it was helpful. Even during the day, the cabin is pretty dark so bring extra lighting. Everything was very clean. The wood stove kept it nice and cozy. We will definitely be back!

This was a wonderful stay. The barn had essentials and was as beautiful and rustic as the pictures. Hosts were responsive and helpful during our stay. My pup loved getting to explore the trails and getting in the water. My only note is to confirm your route to get to the homestead goes through Walnut. Coming from Georgia, my GPS directed us up the mountain and led to a dirt road that was too steep for my car to make it up and drove an additional hour around the mountain to the other side with limited cell service, having to ask a neighbor for directions once nearby. Once we did find it, it was worth all the effort! There were plenty of blankets when I was a little less prepared for the cool nights. We will be back!

Great place! My daughter and I enjoyed staying here. Far away from town and close to a roaring creek. Nature surrounds you. Cozy beds and a gas stove in the kitchen. The cabin is large enough you could fit a tent in it if you wanted 😉. Table and couch and a close by composting toilet. Plus excellent wifi. Would make a fantastic place to write a book or work remote. Now that its getting cooler- make sure you pack warm clothes and a flashlight 💕

Overall excellent experience, the neighboring campsite is just close enough to hear them if they’re loud at all, but otherwise no complaints. Unfortunately the neighbors had two very obnoxious aggressive dogs one of whom even ran over and bit my foot (lightly) the first day. Thankfully they left after the first night and we had the rest of the time to ourselves. We stayed during the last week of July and the water was cool but refreshing, our 8yr old loved playing in the creek. Bring a fan for the cabin if you’re coming during summer, but it’s cooler there than in robbinsville or out on the lake.

I have to admit I was a little anxious driving as far in as we did for this site - but it was well worth it. Do not pass up saving your directions sent to you ahead of time! Also definitely pack everything you need if youre not planning to venture out anywhere as coming and going takes a while. The cabin was lovely and cozy, plus the sound of running water made it even better! It felt like a dream that we had the whole spot to ourselves. I would highly recommend for a creek side camp spot! It was a well stocked cabin for an unplugged trip.

I had a truly lovely time at the studio barn being immersed in nature! The waterfall is right next to you and creates a unique experience with many trails on the property to roam. The host was extremely kind and generous, it was a pleasure to meet her and hear about her homestead. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a little adventure/oasis and to gain insight and education into farm life!

Such a great stay that we added an extra night! The perfect blend of on site amenities like a propane cook top and water to wash up, and time in nature. Enjoyed walking around the property and the sound of the creek all night. Will probably book another stay here in the fall, I'm sure it's beautiful.
