Nestled outside the village of Stillwater, NJ right across the Appalachian trail and the Kittatinny Mountain Ridge, Camp David sports three luxurious log cabins: > Bell's Cabin- Main cabin that sleeps up to six > The Chatham House- Sleeps up to ten > Chief's Cottage- sleeps up to ten All cabins have their own separate listing and can be booked together or combined. The main cabin, Belle's Cabin, is made from hand hewed logs and is the only cabin furnished with a king size bed. All cabins have climate controlled heating/cooling units as well as hot water. Camp David was originally a German hunting camp at the turn of the 20th century. It was later donated to the Boy Scouts in the 1940’s. By the 2000’s, it was left abandoned at which time I purchased it and began to restore it back to its true form while maintaining the cabin life integrity. I am a contractor and arborist by trade and the last ten years I have worked hard to bring the site back to life. The camp consists of 13 acres abutted by 100's of acres of state park land. There are two stocked ponds connected by a cascading stream, multiple fire pits with seating, furnished gazebo with wood stove, picnic tables, and multiple park benches located throughout the property. The kitchen on the main floor has everything you need to enjoy your meals. Pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and spices are all provided for our guests. For our outdoor grill, we give a propane tank. We also offer linen and towels. The home has a free WiFi connection and cable TV. We try our best to make your stay as comfortable as we can. I loved everything about Fernrock. I woke to the beautiful winding brook and the mossy rocks, did yoga with the sunrise. Everything was so intentional and lovingly infused on the property. I was at a workshop during the day and Sandy and John were so kind to make a fire for me to arrive back to. A beautiful space to be in nature.

Lovely place for a peaceful retreat for a chilly November weekend, even with a 5 year old. Sandy and John were such kind and welcoming hosts. The red cabin is an updated church camp cabin, with electric radiators and a modern wood stove for heat, a pretty cool composting toilet (indoor), sink+shower, simple kitchen with induction stove, and 2 bedrooms with linens and towels. Our 5-year old loved the tree house, fairy house, labyrinth, meditation stations, boat and Pooh's house and library. And we got really good at shuffleboard! Would definitely recommend and would like to go back.

Sandy and John could NOT have been better hosts. They are wonderful, lovely people who welcome folks onto their property to explore and reconnect with nature. The cabins are exactly what you need for a short stay. The property is magical with hidden gems all throughout. If you happen to wake up at 3am like I do, you cannot hear the highway. At a certain point just before dawn, the highway and crickets are silent. It is truly one of the most peaceful places just outside of Philadelphia. We stayed with family friends who were staying in one of the two cabins on the property. Plan a magical retreat with your family or loved ones and let Sandy and John teach you how to reconnect with nature!

This was our second time starting at Fern Rock. We stayed in the cabin by the creek this time and it was just as beautiful and calming as our last visit. Is a great place to visit with the kids and have fun in the woods, following the creek, and playing in the huge yard. Of course, we can’t forget about the labyrinth/maze; it’s my little guys highlight and we can spend hours entertained there. It’s always a good time and nice knowing that Sandy and John are so close by.

It was so peaceful. The remarkable thing was that even though it was really hot in Philadelphia, only an hour away, it was cool enough at Fern rock to need a little blanket in the evening. The cabin was spotless and in incredibly good shape. Sitting on the screen porch was like looking through lovely picture windows. Sandy and John were readily available but not intrusive in anyway.

Sandy and John put thought into absolutely every aspect of this hipcamp. It was not just a place to stay, but a whole experience. The mossy landscape by the creek, the privacy, the craftsmanship of the treehouse, the offerings of the meditation walk, the little details in the home, the chickens roaming around, floating down the stream — we felt like we were living in a fairy tale. Moreover, it can be very expensive to experience this type of thing these days, and we appreciated that the cost of the stay was reasonable. Thank you for offering a part of your world to others!

I definitely recommend this place to anyone willing to enjoy nature. We went hiking along the creek and it was a nice walk. We enjoyed getting our footwear full of mud and we were also able to catch and release river crabs. That's an amazing experience. Sandy is such a sweet host. We me John when we were leaving because he is always working. Fire pit in the labyrinth is such a great experience.
