What a great site! I returned to this hipcamp because of the privacy, ease of booking and communication, and of course the site itself. Even with a frosty layer of snow we had no trouble getting to the site. The fairytale lights in the tree made the site feel more enchanting. This time I even preordered some fresh eggs, which the owner’s thoughtfully brought out and had ready for me soon my arrival. I truly look forward to returning once the weather warms up. Thank you for letting stay!

Had a great stay over thanksgiving. Site is awesome and wonderfully maintained. Has plenty of room to swing around and set up how ever you like. New power pole with 50 amp, 30 amp, and 20 amp plugs on dedicated breakers.

We loved this amazing camp, peaceful and quiet and great for our dogs. The site is very spacious and easy to get in and out, even with a larger RV. It’s nice to be so close to the water. One of our dogs is reactive and this is a perfect Hipcamp for him where we can all relax together. Will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed this Hipcamp site. The hosts were quick to respond and even set up the fire pit with wood. It was private, clean, and even lit with lights in the tree above the picnic table. One of the things that I loved about this site is the ability to buy fresh eggs or firewood if needed. I will definitely remember that in the future when I return.

This spot was amazing and exactly as advertised. It was so quiet and peaceful, but we weren't so out in the woods that we felt uncomfortable or too isolated. The layout is simple so setting up our camper was easy, and the area is cozy.

So much fun over the weekend with beautiful clean grounds and an awesome band and bon fire. Small town but nice wood walks and a farmers market nearby with great veggies jam and bread. A wonderful weekend in Maine!

Mountain Brook Hideaway has just become our favorite Hipcamp! This is what all Hipcamps should strive for. Beautiful, private location, with so many hiking trail options. Level parking area with power, picnic table, Adirondack chairs, kayaks and a pond! The perfect fire pit was awesome. One of the trees lit up at night!
David and Laurie were perfect hosts. We will definitely be going back!

We LOVED this peaceful and pristine site. David and Laurie welcomed us in and were easy to reach. The sunrise and the sounds of wildlife added to the charm. Owners took great care and thought in this site. Level gravel site, fire pit with Adirondack chairs, new picnic table, and firewood on site for purchase through an app. The fairly lights in the tree just added to the night time ambiance. Oh, fresh eggs available, too! Because we have a reactive dog, Hipcamp gives us access to awesome, single sites like this. Would definitely return.

Serene and lovely spot. Such a gem that we truly enjoyed exploring, our dogs loved playing and swimming at the waters edge and the string lights, chairs, and kayaks were such thoughtful touches; we loved exploring the pond with the kayaks. We weren’t able to meet our hosts due to inclement weather the day we were supposed to get there, but were able to communicate the entire time. Highly recommend

We had a wonderful stay at Sun Retreats Wild Acres! Check in was smooth and hassle free, and the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The cabin itself was spotless, comfortable, and very relaxing. The location couldn’t be better, just minutes from the beach. We would definitely recommend staying here and are already looking forward to coming back!

Our stay at Mountain Brook Hideaway was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how spacious, quiet, and private the site was—it felt like our own little retreat tucked away in nature. We loved having the water all to ourselves, which made mornings so peaceful and gave us plenty of opportunities to sit back and watch the birds flying over.
Kayaking was one of our favorite parts of the trip. There were so many cool places to explore—hidden crevices, winding passages, and even several beaver lodges that the kids were so excited to discover. It really felt like a hidden adventure at every turn. Back at camp, the kids enjoyed hours in the hammock while our dog loved being able to roam freely and safely in the wide open space.
Our hosts, David and Laurie, were wonderful. Before our trip, they even sent us information on local hiking trails, which we really appreciated—it made planning so much easier and added even more fun to our adventure. On site, they made sure everything was just right, and it was such a treat to be able to purchase firewood right at the campsite. We even got a dozen fresh eggs from their farm, which made breakfast around the campfire extra special.
Everything about Mountain Brook Hideaway exceeded our expectations—the peace and quiet, the natural beauty, and the thoughtful touches from the hosts. We left feeling refreshed, happy, and already planning our next visit. This place is truly a gem!

We had such a wonderful stay at Iris Meadow Farm! Cheryl and Michael are kind, welcoming hosts and their property is so peaceful. We especially enjoyed visiting with them during our stay. We’re extra grateful for their help during our chaotic morning when our little dog decided to make a break for it through the pastures and backyard—they were so understanding and helpful! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful getaway. We’d happily stay again. 🌿🐾
And check out their sweet little farm store! We left with some treasures and ate some of the farm fresh vegetables with dinner!

Where to go
Along the coast
Drive alongside the Atlantic Ocean, where state parks sit right on the beach. History lovers will enjoy the military history of Odiorne Point State Park. Further down the coast, you can fish, swim, and picnic at Rye Harbor State Park or Jenness State Beach. After a dip in the Atlantic, check into your campsite. RV, cabin, and tent campsites dot the area, so you can easily find one, no matter where you stop.
The Great Bay
Head further inland without sacrificing your water access. The Great Bay River runs just outside Portsmouth, while the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge spans more than 1,000 acres. The trails are suitable for all kinds of hikers—not to mention unique birds and wildlife. See what you can see. Portsmouth, NH camping is as enjoyable around the river as it is the Atlantic Ocean.
Pop into Maine
You’re as close to Maine as you are to New Hampshire, so don’t ignore the parks and beaches across the border. Hike at the Kittery Town Forest, or, if you’d rather a taste of local history, learn all about the military at Fort McClary State Historic Site. You can spend the night in the state of your choosing. But, before you head back to New Hampshire, savor a lobster roll at a campground with a picnic area.

The Atlantic Ocean gets cold even in the summertime, so if you want a seaside getaway, come in the warm months. With your choice of beach, you can spend the day fishing, hiking, canoeing, and swimming. However, don’t overlook Portsmouth in the off-seasons. The city offers plenty of indoor activities, so you can easily plan a winter camping trip to explore museums and military sites.
