This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's top treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. There is a beautiful hike to a mountain lookout view of an amazing panoramic of lakes and mountains including Mt Washington and Pleasant Ski mountain. From 5 Kezars rd turn right onto Kezars Ridge Drive, the last camp road before the pavement ends.) At 0.6 miles keep right onto 5 Kezar Ponds Road. Look for a GLLT sign on the right. This is the Mountain Trail. There is a second access 0.5 miles farther west on 5 Kezar Ponds Road for Ron’s Loop. Here is a link for all Lovell Land trust trails: https://www.gllt.org/five-kezars-reserve 2 Local waterfalls only 2 miles away. Drive back out to 5 Kezars road. Take a right on the paved road. It will turn back into dirt. Keep on this road until you see a beautiful stone house on your left. Keep going just up the hill and you will see a right turn into the woods where you can park. There are no signs for Kezar gorge. Hike towards the sound of the falls. There is a small cave under the falls you can climb up into if you are a strong swimmer. There is a second set of falls if you hike down the river. A most magical spot for sure. Virginia lake is in the White Mountain National forest and is only 6 miles (n a ten minute drive away) Sometimes you have to hike in a bit to get to the beach. Shallow beach is great for children and dogs. Keewayden Lake Dam is a fun place to swim in a local lake. Weekend Trip to Emerald Green Cabin

We had the best time at Lisa's cabin. The cabin was super comfortable and accomodating. It had a everything we need for our stay, from plenty of kitchen supplies to extra blankets. The outhouse was also very clean and just a short walk from the cabin. We also enjoyed the walk down to the river. This spot really has it all. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Tuttles Homestead

Mark greeted us immediately when we arrived and was incredibly friendly and helpful. The cabin is clean and cozy. The composting outhouse was one of the nicest I've ever seen! Relaxing by the firepit on a chilly morning was wonderful. Could not have asked for a better stay.

Weekend Trip to Unplugged, No electricity, no wifi.

The cabin was adorable. I enjoyed my weekend “unplugged.” There are solar lights which work perfect when the sun goes down. The cabin contained everything needed for cooking. There were several options for additional lights if needed - including lanterns to take to the outhouse. I enjoyed a quiet and relaxing weekend!

Visit our Remote cabin with all the comforts of home. Cook dinner on the fire pit and then relax and enjoy the warm glow of the lights and look at the stars.

We loved our stay at Emerald Green Cabin. We have stayed at many off-the-grid cabins, and this was one of our favorites. Very clean and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the ease of the kitchen set-up with the propane stove. The woodstove kept us plenty warm during the cold nights. Apart from some of the places we've stayed, you could notice the care and thought put into the design, build, and furnishment of the cabin. The path down to the river was fun and well-marked, though the water level was a little low due to the drought...as we expected. Lisa was an excellent host, responsive without being intrusive. We highly recommend the Emerald Green Cabin.

I loved Sandi and Brandon"s cabin! The land is beautiful and you feel miles away and secluded from everyone else. The cabin itself is very comfortable, clean and cozy. They thought of everything! The covered porch was great and we enjoyed our fires in the fire . The sheep came to visit and were peaceful to watch. I 100% recommend staying here. It's so relaxing!

Me and my boyfriend recently stayed at this cozy cabin for a long weekend, and it exceeded all expectations — peaceful, rustic, and beautifully nestled in nature. The cabin was clean, well-maintained, and provided just the right level of comfort for a relaxing escape. Mark was incredibly welcoming upon our arrival. He personally guided us to the cabin, which sits tucked away behind his home — far enough to feel private and secluded, yet close enough for easy access. He even provided us with firewood, which made our evenings by the fire especially cozy. Throughout our stay, he was respectful of our privacy but checked in just enough to make sure we had everything we needed. His local recommendations were spot on and really helped us make the most of our time in the area. There’s a full bathroom with a warm shower just a short walk down by the main house, which was convenient and added to the “off-grid but comfortable” charm of the stay. Overall, a wonderful retreat for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. We’d absolutely stay here again!

Beautiful location, great host and overall an awesome place to stay! My wife and I plus our two dogs stayed here for my birthday weekend and loved it. Beautiful cozy cabin! Very quiet despite being relatively close to the host's house. Able to watch a thunderstorm roll in on the screened in porch 😍. Will definitely be back!
