It all started on a first date in Boston....Nick had to excuse himself to take a phone call. His cow had fled its pasture. Much to Tara's surprise in that moment, this man she had just met was finishing his engineering degree at Northeastern, but was simultaneously building a homestead in Vermont.
Fast forward 7 years, and here we are, building the life we only dreamed of.
We yearned for simplicity. Deeper connections to our surroundings and mother nature. A calmer sense of place. The satisfaction that comes from growing food. Creating with our hands. A quiet, beautiful, private setting with brook side camping, and glamping! Located three miles up on Stoney Brook road, with a beautiful stretch of the brook passing through the property. Currently in the winter months, we hope to provide a little “Snow Town” in Known Town. For the hardy winter campers and Van Folk, we have our 30 foot diameter Geodesic dome, and/or park and plug in options. In addition to being close to several major winter resorts, we have started our own private trail system for various levels of back country skiing, and snow shoeing. Know Town welcomes well mannered dogs (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. We sell firewood for dome and campfires, and guests are welcome to scavenge the plethora of downed dead wood on the property.

Staying at the Dome in Know Town is truly one for the bucket list!
The hosts are welcoming and so helpful. We stayed for three nights and even in the chillier weather on late October nights, the easy set up made everything a real breeze. The out house is extremely well kept up with and the land around the Dome gives so much to do and explore. If you’re thinking about it, BOOK IT! You won’t regret it 🙂

This was the perfect “glamping” spot! Tara has the space supplied with everything you may need. We especially enjoyed cooking our dinner over the fire, and sleeping to the sounds of the wood stove burning at night. Be prepared for the sounds of wildlife (coyotes). We never encountered them and always felt safe, but could certainly hear them! We would definitely return to this spot.

WHAT A MAGICAL SPOT! The sounds of the brook were lovely, and watching the sun light up the mountain foliage through the giant dome window was so beautiful! We did not brave the shower, but the wash station was super helpful and the hosts had thought of everything a person might need while out there! Loved the hiking trails and having dinner over the fire right next to the water. And of course, who could forget sweet Halo, the Dome Dog! Truly a memorable trip! As we were driving away, my son was already asking when we’d be back! Thank you for everything Bow!

The Dome provided such a unique way of glamping on a great plot of land right next to a river. You have the natural soundscapes all night! And one of the nicest outhouses we have ever seen! They’ve done such an amazing job with it all and we are hoping to go back one day.

Very Friendly and helpful hosts. Bow was kind enough to build us a fire when we came in, as it had started to chill off. Gorgeous dome! They had just set up the electricity so we had lamps in the space and an electric burner to make coffee. The property they are building is really quite remarkable and astounding. Right on the river with a fire pit and chairs riverside. I would highly recommend staying at this unique and memorable place! We will hope to catch a concert there sometime. Rebecca & Nico

By far the best camping experience we as a family have ever had. Everything from the warm welcome for the host Bow and wife Lori, to the amazing dome experience was absolutely perfect. They are really putting together something amazing. My partner and I camped with our son and golden retriever. The swimming was ideal, cozy nights by the fireplace making s’mores were also perfect. I cannot recommend enough a stay at the dome at Know Town. We will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

The Dome was a complete delight. 5 star glamping interior setting w glorious forest views and river sounds with a dirty feet, unplugged, crystal clear water situation right outside.
Lori and Bow are not even done yet with the space and land and it’s already a wonder to behold and a pleasure to enjoy and escape to. Many thanks for having us!

Bow & Lori are gracious and thoughtful hosts who made my stay at the Dome a truly relaxing one. The bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The property is peaceful and beautifully maintained, with plenty of space to wander and enjoy nature. Duke, (my dog) made quick work on running across the field to greet Bow’s dog, Halo. The sky, was the main reason I came to Vermont as I was very impressed For a city boy. Sitting on the deck with the trees outlining the sky to evenings under the stars, everything about the stay made my day & night. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to unplug and recharge in comfort and style.

We had a great time at the Dome with three kids 4-6 years old. The swimming hole was a highlight, as were the daily bonfires on the riverbed. The dome is quite well equipped, with plates, silverware, glasses, cups, coffee maker, hot plate, pans, a charcoal weber grill outside, and a (non-potable water) dishwashing station, among other things. Convenient to Killington, stores 10-15 min away etc. but felt remote.

The dome at Know Town is extraordinary! The hosts were very kind and helpful. They greeted us and showed us around. They have an amazing set up. Much care and creativity has gone into the area. The dome is set up practically and nicely. It has everything you need and more to make it homey and comfortable. In fact, they finished the outdoor sink the morning of our arrival…made cleaning dishes and washing up easy.
The natural setting is beautiful. We always go to Vermont in the summer to swim in its holes. The holes in the brook were crystal clear and easy to get into. The whole area is quiet and peaceful. We will have to come back!

This dome is great! Large and spacious. You are out in nature, but with a dash of convenience. A perfect place for the last minute get away that I booked with my wife. Watching fireflies while inside is pretty cool.

My husband and I loved being able to stay at The Dome with our pups for a night. The river is absolutely beautiful, we went in the swimming home as well as the falls. The property is private, well taken care of and soooo peaceful! The Dome took out breaths away. We knew it was still a work in progress but we absolutely loved it. We’ll be back here in no time! Thank you for having us.
