Weekend Trip to Tuttles Homestead
Mark greeted us immediately when we arrived and was incredibly friendly and helpful. The cabin is clean and cozy. The composting outhouse was one of the nicest I've ever seen! Relaxing by the firepit on a chilly morning was wonderful. Could not have asked for a better stay.

Weekend Trip to Tuttles Homestead
Me and my boyfriend recently stayed at this cozy cabin for a long weekend, and it exceeded all expectations — peaceful, rustic, and beautifully nestled in nature. The cabin was clean, well-maintained, and provided just the right level of comfort for a relaxing escape.
Mark was incredibly welcoming upon our arrival. He personally guided us to the cabin, which sits tucked away behind his home — far enough to feel private and secluded, yet close enough for easy access. He even provided us with firewood, which made our evenings by the fire especially cozy. Throughout our stay, he was respectful of our privacy but checked in just enough to make sure we had everything we needed. His local recommendations were spot on and really helped us make the most of our time in the area.
There’s a full bathroom with a warm shower just a short walk down by the main house, which was convenient and added to the “off-grid but comfortable” charm of the stay.
Overall, a wonderful retreat for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. We’d absolutely stay here again!

We spent a few peaceful days at this cozy cabin, and it was just what I needed. Nestled in the woods but not too far from the main road it offered complete quiet—a perfect place to unplug and recharge. The surrounding land was beautifully kept (lots of dears) with a very clean rustic outhouse and a modern shower. Huge thanks to the Tuttles for hosting us—they’re truly wonderful people. If you get the chance to visit, definitely ask them about their 3D-printed toys. Such a fun surprise! We will definitely go back.

We rented a Jayco camper that made our stay easy and more comfortable. It was right on the river- we enjoyed waking up and watching the ducks go by. We spent a ton of time outside, grilling, having fires and spending time/ laughing with friends. Lots of things locally to do as well. We went apple picking and to the local fair! We got some time kayaking in the river too which was peaceful. It was a nice, quiet getaway, and the owners are lovely people. Be prepared with all your own camping gear. Though the camper was very comfortable, we were lucky we had everything we needed. You will need all your own kitchen gear: a grill, pots/pans, plates, mixing bowls, etc. We would def come back, especially since it's only 1.15hr from home. Thanks for a nice stay.

We loved the Suncook River Camp and staying in the blue Avalon vintage camper. The camper was perfect with its vintage charm and comfortable bed. The site on the Suncook River was great. Our 7yo daughter loved the clean pool, the outdoor movie night, and fishing/canoeing/tubing in the river all weekend. We caught some nice yellow perch on nightcrawlers.
The campground was large enough to have amazing amenities (Hot tubs and sauna opening soon) but not overcrowded. The hosts were very responsive to requests such as firewood orders. Great trip overall!

What a gem. We were driving up to Bangor, ME for the Labor Day weekend and were having a hard time finding a spot when we found Suncook. What a find! Our spot was right on the river and just around the corner to a clean bathroom and showers. The campgrounds had several options for staying including yurts, domes, tent sites, rv sites and even classic furnished rvs. They have a pool, bounce house, playground, a big firepit area and an outdoor kitchen where they looked to be building something new. We would definitely come back when in the area and recommend coming and seeing them! Bonus, dog friendly and a dog washing station on the side of the bath house if needed.

The island was a beautiful spot. I went with my girlfriend and my seven year-old daughter and what a trip that was. I purchased a 4 hp Evinrude engine to hook up to our canoe to get us and all of our stuff out there we had three dogs and three humans so it was quite a few trips and I Accounted for that ahead of time. To paddle would probably take 5 to 10 minutes, but is an easy ride. Plenty of flat spots to set up a tent. The only thing on the island is a dock and a propane griddle which came in handy so we didn’t have to bring all of our cooking stuff. There is a fire pit already established, but you’ll want to bring Firewood. The island has medium vegetation, cover enough to get a little bit of privacy, but may want to consider bringing a tarp or situating your temp in a certain way as to have privacy to change, etc.. parking is at the public beach. It can be a bit of a bummer coming back bringing your stuff from the beach up the hill, but wasn’t terrible. Recommend bringing a wagon dolly or wheelbarrow to get your stuff down to the water would probably make it easier but definitely wasn’t too bad. There’s a grocery store, Ocean State job law and hardware store not even five minutes down the road if you feel like there’s anything you forgotten all in all would definitely go back. The island was very clean with great wildlife. I never thought we would get used to hearing loons.

My husband and I had a wonderful and relaxing time in the Pink Lark camper at Suncook River Campground! It was the cutest little get away, and the staff were so nice and helpful with anything we needed. We will definitely be returning to try out some of the vintage campers, buses, and dome tents!

I loved camping on Duncan Lake! This was a great spot, close to everything (having Hannaford 4 min away for ice & drinking water was very convenient!), the road noise is a little loud but that’s to be expected due to the location. Our dogs loved swimming all day long, kayaking and exploring the island. I already want to come back!

Absolutely loved our stay on this beautiful lake island! The campsite was peaceful and serene, with enough space for our group. There’s just enough room for 6 tents. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding around the lake, and the 10-minute paddle from the boat launch was easy and fun. Of course, no outdoor adventure is complete without a few unexpected surprises, most of us got stung by some pretty mean wasps that have nests on the island so proceed with caution, they really hurt. The lake was perfect for a relaxing getaway, and we will definitely be back again. Thanks to the host for providing such a lovely spot to enjoy nature!

Really awesome spot for tent camping! The island is easy to access and has nice tree cover, so even though there are houses nearby it feels very private. Paddleboarding over from Cleveland Beach takes 10-15 mins. Levi is a great host and was very responsive and accommodating! Cannot recommend enough - we will definitely be back!
If you are camping with dogs, I do recommend checking the local town pages for their summer fireworks schedule before booking. The night we stayed there was a show across the lake that went until 11pm. Luckily our dogs don’t mind fireworks so it wasn’t an issue, but definitely something to keep in mind if you have an anxious pup!

Perfect spot for tent camping, the lake is so clear and clean and the dock was really convenient and nice to sit out on! The island itself is beautiful!! Plenty of room for 8 people, we did not pack light so we brought inflatable rafts to tow our stuff over and it worked great! We were there on the 4th and got lucky with the neighbors shooting off fireworks!

The girls loved exploring every corner, and we loved slowing down and enjoying each little moment.
