The front area includes their home, garden (guests can take produce), and a shop for their turf business. Chickens roam freely near the host house, so pets should be monitored. There are also calm honeybees on site. Hipcamp sites are located at the back, along with a pond for swimming and fishing. From May to September, guests can use beach toys, a paddle board, kayak, and paddle boat. Hammocks and a large playground are also available for guests to enjoy.

You can camp, wander, head down the road to Viking Lake. Easy, relaxing and not too many rules. I don't do trash, unattended firepits or really loud gatherings past dusk. I love to camp but, this is our oasis. We also have outdoor dogs that help keep the coyotes and wildlife at bay. The means that they may bark at night.

We have a 5 acre suburban campsite that is quiet, yet close to amenities. Located in south Lincoln between Highway 2 and the city limit, near shopping, restaurants, and breweries. Our property has a small seasonal creek with a walking path next to it and through a forested area and meadow. Cottonwood Creek Camp has one RV site and one Tent site. This can be a peaceful place to stay for a quick stop, an extended stay or even during Husker game-day weekends. We are 6 minutes from Southpoint mall which offers a shuttle to Memorial Stadium. Super Target, Aldi's and many other grocery stores are only 5 minutes away. Disc golf and mini golf courses are 2 miles away. There is also access to the Lincoln bike trails via our residential streets. Laundry is available on site for an extra fee.

Our property is a quiet stretch of rural southwest Iowa farmland near Hawthorne, centered around a peaceful, stocked pond surrounded by wide-open row-crop fields. This isn’t a commercial campground—it’s a simple, private slice of the country where you can slow down, cast a line, float on the water, and enjoy true Midwestern quiet.
Set about a quarter mile off a low-traffic gravel road, the pond offers privacy, minimal noise, and very low light pollution. On clear nights, the sky fills with stars, and the sounds of frogs and evening breezes replace traffic and city noise.
The pond is stocked and open for catch-and-release fishing. Swimming is allowed, and guests are welcome to bring kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and other non-motorized watercraft. The shoreline is open for walking, relaxing, and finding your favorite sunset spot.
An old railroad caboose sits near the pond, adding a unique touch of character and history to the setting (interior not accessible).
This is intentionally a primitive camping experience. There are no hookups, no potable water, and no restroom facilities at this time. A 110V outlet is available near Site A for light-duty use, and trash drums are provided. Guests should come prepared and plan to be self-sufficient.
We welcome respectful campers who appreciate simple outdoor experiences—quiet mornings by the water, kids learning to fish, or peaceful evenings under wide Iowa skies. If both campsites are occupied, they sit across the pond from each other, allowing space and separation while sharing the same beautiful setting. We ask guests to keep noise reasonable so everyone can enjoy the calm atmosphere.
Access is drive-up in most conditions, though heavy rain can make the ground soft.

It’s a nice field with very pretty sunsets and Super clean. Walking through the field and to the water is relaxing after a long drive. The grass does need to be cut and sprayed. I had 3 ticks on me and my bf had one when we got back from our walk. Also it needs a dump station but with that fixed we would be back for sure.

Easy Access & Clear Communication
The hosts provided detailed instructions and amenities information before my arrival, which made everything seamless. The site was easy to locate - no wandering around in the dark trying to figure out where to park - and I was able to pull in smoothly for the night.
Comfortable Amenities
The indoor community space was a real highlight. It’s one thing to have a place to park and sleep, but having access to a welcoming indoor area made the experience feel more like a retreat than just a parking spot. It was clean, well-maintained, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay.

I stayed at the Fence Post in October, after water was shut off for the winter. HOWEVER, when I made the reservation, the host was very quick to tell me this… so I was prepared! Kathy was great about giving instructions to get to the spot (make sure you don’t come in too close to the building!), and how to leave if backing up was a problem. The area behind me was very spacious so it was “easy” to back out and drive out! ( I say “easy,” because I’m new at travel trailering and backing up isn’t ever really easy for me - yet!!). I was very pleased with how level it was - from a picture I had seen, I didn’t expect that! Woo hoo! Lots of green space available to walk the dogs. This was a one-night stay - just passing through. I noted that others discussed traffic noise. It is true, it is not too far off the road BUT, I didn’t hear a thing (& I didn’t have tv or music on!!)! I am happy to recommend it to other hipcampers! Thanks Kathy… and I hope you have a great winter!

Beautiful stay! If you want gorgeous sunsets this is the place to go! Devlin was flexible and easy to get a hold of! On hipcamp the bathroom is always something I'm curious about 🤣 so here's the info- it was one porta potty for the whole place. There are quite a few sites and a good portion of them were full (even on a week night) so you ended up sharing with a lot of people. There was no toilet paper, but I never messaged Devlin to let him know so that was not his fault, sharing with that many people means there's a high chance of no to so being your own. You should also bring your own hand sanitizer as there isn't any.
They had some pretty walking trails down to a river. The river seemed low so it wasn't much to look at. The stay was near a gravel road and large trucks seem to barrel down the road so if it's dry you get a whole wave of dust blowing off the road so the best campsites are going to be the ones further back off the road. I can't remember if the map has the road on it but we were in site 6 and it was on the backside away from the road for reference.
All in all a good stay, nothing crazy exciting but the lots were level and mowed and the host was clear and responsive, really what more can you ask for?

Nice comfortable spot for our trip across the country! It was great having the indoor space to get a good shower and do a little work before getting back on the road. Had a little trouble with the direction from hipcamp but when we used the actual address, we got there just fine. Arrived in the dark and it was easy enough for our small rig to pull in and turn around to back up, but a bigger rig should just back in from the road.

This is my 2nd Hipcamp experience and once again very favorable. Devlin provided quick response to my few questions. We would not have found this jewel without being on Hipcamp. Spaces are spaced a bit more than most RV Parks. Had I read the descriptive I would have realized there was water for RV's at the entry, good electrical connection. Love the location, dark sky and quiet. If you enjoy gravel bicycling, plan to spend a few days in this area.

We were a same day registration and were only there for an overnight, but we had a nice experience at Aaron and Megan’s property. Aaron met us there and gave us the information about the common areas, even though we did not use them, it was very nice to have available. The RV spot is on asphalt and flat which is nice. It is a back-in but there is plenty of room. It rained the majority of the time so we did not explore much other than to take the dogs for a walk in the neighborhood. The area is quiet and we had a peaceful night’s rest. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for something in the area.

Great little campground for relaxation or just passing through. Wide open spaces, path to rivers edge, spacious sites, fire rings, nice picnic tables, community fire pit, and white rock. Water fill available in 2 locations, and a porta potty. No dump station. The host was friendly and stopped by to chat. Firewood also available upon request at standard pricing.
