Quiet getaway in the pines! Welcome to the Holmestead, our own little slice of Montana that we are really excited to bring back to life and share with YOU! We are small town Kansas natives who fell in love with Montana over 15 years ago. This property is equal parts privacy and concience, you can enjoy the peace and quite of nature while also having the ability to hop over a few miles to our little town for groceries, a local beer, or to gas up your car!
The Holmestead is a rustic dry cabin on 5 acres nestled between Mill Creek and a seasonal run off stream with easy access to the highway and only a 10 min drive to Missoula. A queen bed, futon and air mattress are available for sleeping!
Family and pet friendly property with plenty of space to pitch a tent next to the cabin if you have more guests in your party (tents will be an additional fee, $10 per person in addition to the 4 person cabin max). Excellent cell service if you have Verizon or carriers that pull from those towers.
Attractions: Walking distance to forestry service roads. 15 minutes to the Missoula Airport and an additional 10 minutes to the heart of Missoula and all it has to offer. If you are looking for more adventure there is always an endless amount of recreation near, whether you want to drive 5 minutes to mountain bike or 3 hours to Glacier National Park, there is something for everyone! If you have questions about fun things to do please reach out to us!
Parking: Reserved parking for guests in the main driveway or in the clearing near the cabin.
Water: Portable toilet onsite, sealson warm shower and sink also available, we recently upgraded to a JOOLCA hot water system so guests can have running water and a warm outdoor shower. We provide 5 gal of potable water in the colder months and have running water nearby for easy refill of water containers if needed in the warmer months.

Pets allowed. We do have 2 very frienly dogs that roam the property freely, if you pet is reactive please let us know so we can monitor our dogs when letting them outside to do their business. Please be sure to pick up after your animals.

The Second Living Unit is a well kept 2018, Jayco travel trailer with slide-out that sleeps 4 comfortably (up to 6), and has full utilities (water/power/sewer) and includes A/C, 3 burner range, microwave, bathroom with standup shower (5 gallon RV water heater), outdoor shower, private master with RV Queen mattress. The rear living setup allows for a large living/dining/kitchen area. The futon folds down into a full bed, and the dinette drops into a double futon 4” pad for extra campers or sleeping separately.
This private parcel shares a forest service boundary on one side, and is adjacent the road on the other, but the cabin and RV are set as close to the FS boundary as possible and there is a large, 1 acre clearing with plenty of additional parking areas. Enjoy the forest service access and nearby Jim Creek with public access just across the bridge. Check out the pair of nesting Common Loons at Peck Lake. Get out of the tent and enjoy a cozy night inside. Outdoor string lighting and an adjacent forest service campfire ring makes your evenings something to remember.

Notes: There is plenty of additional parking, but no additional RV hookups. Tent camping is not recommended at this site, nor is outdoor cooking since there is a high density of bears in the area, but campers are welcome to stay and there is room inside the dry cabin for your gear! Along the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route GDMBR (bikepacking route) on Peck Lake Road, in the Swan Valley, Montana, a short walk to Jim Creek for a crisp plunge.
This hard sided campsite hosts a Remodeled Dry cabin with Power and Queen-Double bunk bed, dining table with chairs and a covered porch. The Second Living Unit is a well kept 2018, Jayco travel trailer with slide-out that sleeps 4 comfortably (up to 6), and has full utilities (water/power/sewer) and includes A/C, 3 burner range, microwave, bathroom with standup shower (5 gallon RV water heater), outdoor shower, private master with RV Queen mattress. The rear living setup allows for a large living/dining/kitchen area. The futon folds down into a full bed, and the dinette drops into a double futon 4” pad for extra campers or sleeping separately.
This private parcel shares a forest service boundary on one side, and is adjacent the road on the other, but the cabin and RV are set as close to the FS boundary as possible and there is a large, 1 acre clearing with plenty of additional parking areas. Enjoy the forest service access and nearby Jim Creek with public access just across the bridge. Check out the pair of nesting Common Loons at Peck Lake. Get out of the tent and enjoy a cozy night inside. Outdoor string lighting and an adjacent forest service campfire ring makes your evenings something to remember.

I ended up at Cody’s at kind of the last second and he and his wife were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. The space is really clean and well kept. Me and my dogs slept great. I would have booked another night but had plans for the next evening already. I highly recommend this spot - a steal for the price.

We loved our time at Sanctuary Farm. The farm itself is on a private road, off a minor country road in a heavily treed area - The drive there is spectacular. You know you are in for something special! The yurt was placed well away from the owner's home, which gave lots of privacy and the night sky is DARK, so perfect for stargazing. The composting sawdust outhouse was a short walk from the yurt & surprisingly pleasant - no odor or flies and plenty of ventilation. 1000 times nicer than a port-o-potty. The solar heated camp shower provided by the host worked great. Just be sure to shower in the evening after the water has had all day to heat up! The optional breakfast was delish - definitely worth the cost & we ate out for our other meals, so never used the outdoor kitchen. We enjoyed our time here & would definitely recommend it to others seeking a stay off-the-beaten path.

We stayed in the dry cabin while traveling home from our hiking trip. It was perfect! Cody and his family were very welcoming, to include his dog! The cabin itself is amazing! It’s clean and well taken care of. There is also a little seating area down by the creek to hang out and enjoy the sounds of nature. We also saw a ton of deer around. I would 10/10 stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time here! We stayed a night as part of our honeymoon traveling through Montana. It is very peaceful and quiet, beautiful surroundings with the mountains and creek, and the animals are really sweet and fun to be around. The bed is super comfy and cozy and we slept so well in the A frame. The camper with the shower is really cool and the hot shower was a very nice treat. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with Geof. Would love to stay here again some day!

This place is magical! The little seasonal creek in front of the cabin, the tall cottonwoods, the bigger creek tucked into the trees and even the purple flowers of the thistle as you walk the trail to get there were all so beautiful. We spent our days on the cabin porch listening to bird song and enjoying visits from the hummingbirds, Pumpkin the cat and the friendliest dogs who brightened our mornings. Cody was an awesome host, accommodating and helpful. Having spent most of our journey tent camping, the cabin was a luxury - clean and cozy with comfortable beds, a powerful fan for a warm day and a little grill and hot plate for warm meals. We loved it so much we extended our stay by a day and can't wait to go back!

2 nights at Mission Falls Ranch
My husband and I were warmly welcomed by Geof when we arrived. We camped by the river, which lulled us to sleep every night. The bed was comfy and large. I get cold easily and was concerned that the A frame would be too cold in the middle of the night. My husband and I slept like a baby and I was not cold at all. The outhouse was near by. I learned that pouring bark in the toilet will keep the odor down. There was a converted a small trailer into the cutest shower and dressing area. Only had an issue with controlling the hot and cold water but all else was great.
Their dogs are well behaved, love to play catch. One pup in particular was clearly playing hide and seek. He would bring the ball or stick and then run to hide behind a near by bench and would peer through the slats until I threw the ball or stick. He would appear and go after it and do the same. None of the dogs jumped on us or were pushy about playing.
It was devastating to hear that a guest ran over and killed one of these precious members of the family. Please be careful when you drive onto the property. Pets are part of a family and are loved just as well. Please be cautious.

A little taste of Heaven! Sanctuary Farm was a peaceful retreat. The yurt was rejuvenating and comfortable. Everything was a perfect balance of both comfort and function. There was electricity and minimal wifi, which was wonderful to be unplugged for a short while. Matt met us upon arrival and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and he gave us privacy and was respectful. Water was provided upon arrival which was much needed. We loved seeing their kittens, goats, sheep, and cattle dog Huckleberry. I definitely recommend the breakfast, the sourdough waffle sandwich was delicious and he was so kind to accommodate my vegetarian preference. I wish we could have stayed longer. I enjoyed reading the guestbook of all who have graced the sanctuary. It was the perfect start to our trip. A creek ran right through the property, which was wonderful to listen to from our home-away-from-home. It would be a pleasure to visit again; I highly recommend staying here if you’re anywhere near the area. It’s worth the drive, and has a saloon not too far up the road. Five stars and hope to be back soon. So peaceful and comfortable. Thank you, Matt and Liz!
