The Monarch Cabin sits at an elevation of approximately 8,600 feet on the west side of Elkhorn Peak. It is surrounded by more than 300,000 acres of public land with 80,000 acres of that being designated as a roadless area. The nearest human inhabitance is in the Historic Town of Elkhorn situated a bit more than 3 miles to the south and a drop of about 2,000 feet of elevation. During the Summer, enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and trail running on maintained and unmaintained trails. Climb peaks with incredible views and fish in mountain lakes. Spring time provides opportunity to experience the splendor of the wild flower season. There are so many flowers that the whole area is alive with the aroma and multitude of colors. If you are lucky, you may see new born wildlife such as deer, elk, mountain goats, fox, moose and many others. Winter time lends to incredible back country skiing, split boarding, and snowshoeing. The sunsets are typically spectacular while enjoying the views and solitude. Book for a time of full moon and with a clear sky a moonlight ski or walk is amazing. From the West there is the Muskrat/Tizer Lakes trail which is a maintained, designated hiking/biking trail. To the south is an unmaintained, extremely rough forest service road leading to the cabin. To the east there is a trail to the top of Elkhorn Peak and to Crow Peak, the two highest peaks in the Elkhorn mountains. To the north there are trails leading to most anywhere in the Elkhorn Mountains. Tizer lakes are only about 3 miles away on an easy maintained trail. From there there are too many destinations to name. Hiking and biking is limited only by one's own ambition and skills. The Elkhorn endurance run is a well known event that has it's longer race route run right through the property. At the end of a hard day of adventure, relax in the wood fired sauna and enjoy the amazing sunsets. If you are lucky, you might even hear elk bugling in the valley below (September/October). Most people access the cabin by hiking, biking, snowshoes or ski's. If one choose to drive, a 4 WD truck would be a must and would still be difficult. Areas above the cabin are for non-motorized use only.

Short drive to Twin Lake Trailhead, Georgetown Lake and the Town of Anaconda. Twin Lakes Trailhead(3miles from tipi) open up opportunities to hike into several high alpine lakes and access the Continental Divid Trail. You can hike right off the property onto Forest Service roads and trails. Fishing and boating at Georgetown Lake. A wonderful location between Yellowstone National Park and Glaicer National Park. I'm a outdoor, horse enthusiast doglover Montana woman. I'm sharing my property because this is where I go to unwind and relax. Unload the horse,unload the dog and leave the phone in the truck. The tipi location is in the mountains and primitive road getting to the tipi. Recommend a a high clearance vehicle. Dog friendly tipi please be consider and be a responsible dog owner. Our ranch is cozied up along the Blackfoot River and 9 miles away from Brown's lake, both of which are excellent sources of recreation. We are located off the highway on the back county road. This pristine camp spot is on our 5th generation cattle ranch and depending on the grazing schedule you may be serenaded by the sound of soothing "moo's" from our cow and calf pairs as you fall to sleep. Along with our cows, there are chickens and horses nearby, as well as multitudes of wildlife. Three couples of Trumpeter Swans call our pond home, as well as ducks, geese, loons, sandhill cranes, and a whole cascade of other bird varieties. Deer, grizzlies, black bear, badgers, elk, foxes, and rabbits also call our ranch home and can usually be spotted nearby. The camp site itself is along our pond. This pond unfortunately does not have any fish, but it is very relaxing to paddle a kayak or canoe in and out of the willow branches that surround it. You will have a quiet, serene and private location, hidden by the canopy of willows that grow along the pond. The views are spectacular and the nearby activities make this a great spot for any outdoor enthusiast!

This five-acre oasis was once a landscape nursery. So given the close proximity to downtown we are a hidden sanctuary from the outside world, secluded by cottonwood trees and mature foliage. The site now serves as a wedding venue and offers views of Mount Helena to the South and the Sleeping Giant to the North. Learn more about this land: Pitch a tent in our aspen grove or park your camper/RV in the grassland field. You're close to downtown with lots of privacy/scenery. You'll have views of regal Mount Helena to the South and The Sleeping Giant to the North. The South Hill trail complex is a great place to explore as well as the Scratchgravels. The Missouri River is only 20 minutes away as well as Lake Hauser and Canyon Ferry. If new to the area and interested in history, we recommend the Tour Train. We also have several great breweries - our favorites include Ten Mile and Blackfoot Breweries (a perfect stop you can ride to after a trail ride/hike in the South Hills). This site is perfect for those wanting to explore Downtown Helena, it's renowned trail systems, but still sleep under the stars. Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them. There is water throughout the property that you are welcome to use for cleaning, but it is not potable.

We don't know much about the history of our property but we can tell you that we plan on keeping it forever. It has absurdly good views at the top and is the perfect amount of remote and accessible for us.Learn more about this land:The property begins at the base of a small mountain and goes straight to the 6000' peak (and a little past). Great views, silent surroundings. You will very much be in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy it. There is a natural spring on the property from which you may get your water. Please no relieving yourself within 100 feet of the spring or uphill from it.

We had a late arrival, and an early morning, but after we settled in, this was such a dreamy stay! It was an adventure to get there in the dark, and we were careful on the rocky road up to the spot. Our host recommends a higher clearance, which is necessary. The sky is so big up there! Wow! The stars!!! The tipi was very cozy, and the bed was super comfy. ... And the morning - the coyotes yipping in the distance, a screech owl, the expansive view of the mountains in every direction, sunset colours with the tipi in the foreground... it was truly a one of kind experience. Our only regrets is not having more time relax and enjoy, or use all the amenities, like the outdoor shower (it has hot water!). Our host was so wonderfully accommodating as we scrambled to make arrangements. Thank you for everything! And for sharing this beautiful chunk of Montana with us. (And ps. We loved Anaconda too... such a charmer of a town!)

Denise's tipi is well-situated and has a lovely view. We experienced a really spectacular sunset while we had a late dinner. There are some extra perks in the campsite - a picnic table, a firepit, an outhouse, and so cool to sleep in a real bed while still having the 'camping' feel. I would recommend being sure to have camping supplies on hand like water and a stove for cooking & you will have a truly fantastic experience!

Our family really enjoyed getting to stay on Denise's land. The Tipi was comfortable and Denise gave thought to details. There was plenty of firewood to enjoy a romantic fire under the stars. There was a coffee pot, water and coffee with a propane camping stove so we could have coffee in the morning. It was pleasantly quiet and rustic. A real outback experience while still having all the essentials. There even was a heater in the Tipi to warm up while getting dressed. 1st time staying in a Tipi I really could imagine Indians. I definitely would recommend if you enjoy having unique experiences. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

I loved tent camping here. Lots of space to dry our our items from being previously rained on in glacier. A great spot to regroup and relax. I couldn't find the sign for our spot but there were other campers and we figured it out.

If you’re looking to camp on top of a Montana mountain like the tv show Yellowstone, then this hip camp is for you. The tipi sits a little downhill from the cabin, but you still get amazing views from the campsite as a whole. Be warned you will need a high clearance vehicle with 4-wheel or all-wheel drive to get to the site. Overall an incredible experience.

Our family really enjoyed staying on Ana's land. It feels so private but is close to anything you want to see in and around Helena. The potties were very clean. We had a large space to set up camp. I would definitely stay here again!
