Amazing spot, super private and great hosts. It is off the beaten path a bit. There is a bit of off-roading as the paved road ends about 2 miles before you get to your destination. The rv pads are a bit narrow if you have a slide and want to stay on the gravel. However it’s worth it!

Very nice owner. The spots had plenty of room and were well laid out. I did have to use my mascerator pump to dump the tanks due to the sewer connection being uphill from our tank hook-ups. If your tank hook-ups were at the rear of your RV this would not be an issue but ours are forward of the axles. The park is in a good and quiet location.

I have a rooftop tent and really enjoyed this spot. I had a wonderful quiet evening. Love that there is a shower and restroom right there next to the sites. Hosts were very kind and extremely responsive. Oh! And they even provide wood for your campfire, which is awesome. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area again!

Where to begin!!??? We absolutely loved our stay at BRCM!... we stayed in our camper on an electric site and it was fantastic from start to finish. Roger and Lela are just incredible people who have created a very special place. Between the swimming pool, bar and grill, playground, dogs, and general vibe, this place is a one of a kind getaway- more of an experience really. We loved it. And it's minutes away from the Current river where we set up for a few hours to have some river fun.
It's truly a family place- we met other campers/lodgers who had already been there several times, which i absolutely understand! This is a place you keep coming back to because Roger and Lela make it feel like home. We can't wait to come back!!!!

We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a great outdoor experience, whether you're planning to ride the trails or just enjoy the natural beauty. It's clear that a lot of care and attention has been put into making this a top-notch destination for both horses and ATVs.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any questions or needs we had.
Be sure you take the Hwy 19 to State Hwy N or else be prepared to do a bit of off roading before you get there.

The Big Rock Candy Mountain was a great spot for a long weekend with our RV, motorcycles and a float trip on the Current. We absolutly enjoyed the pool, the bar and grill for both a dinner and a breakfast, and some fantastic live music on the deck Saturday night! Great spot, we'll be back!

MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED CAMPSITE 31! IT WAS SECLUDED, SHADED, AND HAS GREAT VIEWS. YOU ARE NOT ON TOP OF YOUR NEIGHBORS. THE BATHROOMS WERE CLEAN. WE DIDN'T GET TO SWIM BUT THE POOL WAS CLEAN AND VERY INVITING. DOG FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. STAFF WAS EASILY REACHED AND NICE ABOUT ME CALLING TO GET FIREWOOD AND STAY AND EXTRA NIGHT. WE VISITED STATE PARKS CLOSE BY, THERE WERE PLENTY OF SWIMMING HOLES WE ENJOYED. THEY HAD A STORE YOU CAN CALL STAFF TO MAKE A PURCHASE, LIMITED MERCHANDISE. WE WERE ABLE TO RELAX AND ENJOY OUR TIME AND PLAN TO GO BACK AS SOON AS WE CAN!

As previously mentioned, the shower house is amazing (and has AC) but they also have a great set up around camp. You can be as primitive or comfortable as you'd like and the host family is incredibly welcoming and friendly. They went over and above and helped us with a couple small issues we were having. LOVED this campground. Hosts are awesome and communication is STELLAR. Very helpful with information and suggestions. Amenities are exactly as described. Store has plenty of supplies for the 'oops, I forgot.' Spots are not packed on top of each other. Campground is quiet and well maintained. Lots of extras (cornhole, tetherball, etc.). Did not encounter any issues, and I do not doubt that if we had, they would have been addressed immediately. I hope this is a representation of all Hipcamp suggestions!

This is a cute little spot that is secluded enough for me, but also close to gas stations, food, and grocery for emergencies. They are currently building a shower area as well! The hosts were incredible!!! They provided wood and even brought me farm fresh eggs to cook! You can take a short drive to the lake, or grab some food on nights you don’t want to cook. One of the best parts was the Wi-Fi. I’m used to not having any and get by just fine, BUT being able to cozy up in bed and pop on Netflix, YouTube, whatever you want was great! The locals are welcoming and nice as well. Overall it’s a hidden gem that I will definitely be back to visit! Thank you for a relaxing weekend!

We loved camping here! Big Rock Candy Mountain Retreat is an amazing place. The property is very well maintained and nice. Shower house and bathrooms are clean and better than any other bath/shower house I have used while camping. The owners are super accommodating, helpful and friendly. We felt very welcome and will were planning a return visit after the first night. The restaurant was amazing as well and had great food and drinks. I highly recommend BRCM to anyone traveling through the area. I can't wait to return and show others this fantastic property!

Where to go
Ozark National Scenic Riverways
Though the clear waters of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers form the basis of this national park, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways protects much more than the rivers. The region is home to historic mills, caves, architectural ruins, and scenic landscapes. Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and more can be enjoyed. The National Park Service offers public camping at Big Spring Campground, with both basic and electric sites available for tents and RVs. Glamping rentals can be found across the region.
Mark Twain National Forest
The Mark Twain National Forest covers 1.5 million acres in Missouri, protecting woodlands and waterways. This outdoor playground is home to hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, as well as prime locations for fishing and paddling. Near Van Buren, public camping is available at Pinewoods Lake Campground and Watercress Recreation Area, both of which have tent and RV sites with no hookups. In the surrounding area, as many as a dozen national forest campgrounds can be found.
Echo Bluff State Park
One of the Missouri State Park system’s newest developed parks, Echo Bluff offers a comfortable spot for exploring this region, starting with Sinking Creek, which runs through the park. Located just under an hour northwest of Van Buren, Echo Bluff has a modern campground with full hookups, concrete pads, free wifi, and more. Venture into the woods to find deluxe tent sites with camping decks. The park also offers cabins and a full-service lodge.
Clearwater Lake
Northeast of Van Buren, Clearwater Lake is another hub for camping and recreation. A number of private RV parks can be found nearby, as well as public campgrounds operated by the Army Corps of Engineers.
When to go
Summertime is river time in the Ozarks. The waters are bustling with canoes, kayaks, and tubes, especially on weekends. The weather will be hot and humid, but the rivers are refreshing. Spring and fall are scenic, with pleasant weather. The Ozark hills are especially delightful in the fall as they erupt in autumnal colors. Camping is generally not popular in the winter due to freezing temperatures, but some visitors appreciate the solitude and starkness at this time of year.
