Grand Army Farm is a family owned working farm. We raise beautiful angora goats for fiber and have chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and meat goats. We serve local restaurants and participate in many local area farmers market. We pride ourselves in minimizing our carbon footprint, to the extent that we don't own any heavy piece of farm equipment, not even an ATV. The working portion of the game only accounts for 15 % of the land. What this means is that 85% of the wooded acres is available for you HipCampers to hike and explore. Of particular interest is the site of an old moonshine distillery hidden in the woods, a 20 min hike east of your campsite. Legends has it that the moonshine was illicitly produced during Prohibition and sold in the loft of our biggest barn where people would drink and dance the night away. The property boats of gorgeous mature oak trees, hickory trees and newer cedar stands where nature abounds. In the morning you may see the herons fly in or the Canadian geese come in.Learn more about this land:Pitch your own tent by our 5 acres lake. You will hear the frogs croak at night, see sights of blue herons or Canadian geese flying in, and hear our own geese and ducks greet you from across the lake. There are 20.11 acres of farm life to share with you. We do many things to help keep the farm going, and moving towards being self supporting. Such as pony rides, birthday parties, weddings, camp outs, and so much more. We sell fresh laid farm eggs for $5 cash a dozen. To purchase eggs, call or text Nancy (618)601-4645 Pony rides are $30 cash, and by appointment only. They are hand led, and approximately 20-30 minute. The child will be hand led around the farm. Travelers along Interstate 44 in eastern Missouri often recognize Eureka by the colorful roller coasters and thrill rides visible from the highway, thanks to Six Flags theme park, which is just one attraction that brings visitors to this small town west of St. Louis. Some use it as a home base for visiting the city, thanks to the short 30 minute drive into downtown. Others use it as a jumping-off point for exploring the natural areas that ring the city. Route 66 State Park and several nature preserves and conservation areas are found nearby, offering scenic spots for hiking and biking. Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park

With facilities built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Babler State Park prides itself for welcoming generations of visitors who have come to explore the woodlands and prairies or to gather with family. One of Missouri’s oldest parks, this is a good option for exploring Eureka or visiting St. Louis. The well-developed campground has spacious sites for tents and RVs, offering concrete pads and electric hookups.

St. Louis

While Eureka is a popular home base for exploring St. Louis, campers can also do the opposite, staying in parks, cabins, or glamping rentals closer to the city. A handful of urban RV parks provide easy access to St. Louis’s attractions, which include the sprawling Forest Park, numerous family attractions and museums, and a vibrant downtown, known as the home of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Gateway Arch National Park.

Meramec State Park

Another state park option close to Eureka is Meramec State Park, offering recreational opportunities along the Meramec River, which makes a slow sliver through the park’s woodlands and bluffs. Hop in or on the waters for boating, paddling, swimming, or fishing. An onsite cave offers fascinating tours. The park campground has sites suitable for tents and RVs, whether you want to dry camp or have electric or full hookups.
